As I said at the beginning of the forum, I am not one for intruding in any way or expecting anything in return from the actor we all admire, heck the man gives enough already in his performances and that is why we admire him riight? But because I have had to come to the sad conclusion that travelling to 'Travelling Light' and supporting Damien's latest work is not possible for me right now due to my healht, I wanted to just say a thank you in some way and let Damien know that he is an inspiration to me and others, in fact the idea of being able to see him perform some time in the future is a wonderful focus in my recovery that I am grateful for!
So..The flowers I sent to Damien from us all here at the forum, and all his twitter fans, have arrived! Here is his reply to us all on Twitter!
Forgot to say that it's such a shame you can't come to Travelling Light. Let me know if you want anything signed or for me to give a letter or card. I'll certainly tell him I'm a member of here - I'd be very proud to.

Hi Laura and oddoneout, the flowers were from us all! So nice of Damien to respond, I hope he can feel the appreciation and happiness he brings, from his fans... he deserves to.
ooh, I hadn't thought about the red connection Laura, good thinking! I do have flowers that have special meaning to me, but didn't think in that way for these ones for Damien, don't want to impose my stuff, just wanted something bright and beautiful and celebratory that would bring a smile and say a thanks. Sunflowers are so.... sunny and happy faced, lillies are exquisite, the colours are really summery and warm. (I surely hope it didn't feel an imposition.. after all he doesn't know us guys but we at the forum spend all this time talking about his work, must be kind of odd for him.)
Yes, I don't think i have been so frustrated in my life that I cannot see Travelling Light.. not only because I know it would be an epic play to experience and Damien's performance, but because I want to show support. But I am happy so many fans have and will be seeing it, and it is so kind of you to offer, I just hope you guys have an amazing time and would love to hear all about it after, in glorious detail! Not long now until you go is it?
That was such a good idea. Well done you. I love the ones you picked too. Were they your faves or, as flowers have symbolism, so they mean anything. (Oh alright, what I'm really trying to say is which of the red ones mean "red shield" :D)

I'd tell you about my visit in March, but I'm not sure about spoilers. Maybe tell you all about the May adventure. By the way, did you deliver them to the National Theatre? (I'm looking at the desk that they're on. Looks like an office!).

Ooh, i am liking your signature Laura! Yes, to the Lyttelton on the re-opening night, but I am not sure if Damien himself received them at that time.
Yay! I know Eileen, really cool of Damien to reply at all, I am so glad he liked them, and hope he approves of our little forum over here. Lol, little beginnings lead to great things, and this is just the beginning of the forum supporting what will no doubt be an ever growing and successful acting career for Damien!
What beautiful flowers and what a sweetheart to let you know he received them :)
totally ruby...it was a really lovely thing for him to do. I am still doing a double take on it and blinking. Somehow not being able to see Travelling Light doesn't hurt so much now :)
Really colourful aren't they Lau? they were delivered on the opening night of the final run of Travelling Light at The National Theatre
It is a bit of a myth that men don't like flowers.. I have arty male friends (in the classical music world) who receive flowers on opening and closing night performances. I think it is a lovely thing.
