Anyone fancy joining 'Team Damolition' for the Rugby World Cup?

Damien has put out an invite to join his Fantasy Rugby League!

 



More Info from Fantasy Rugger website:
 

Welcome to Fantasy Rugger – the statistical approach to rugby.

For the World Cup, you will need to pick a team of 25 guys that you think you can manage through the Group Stages. You have a budget of £1.25 million to do this so make sure you use it wisely. 

From this squad of 25, you will then pick a team of 15 for each Round. You will only receive points for the players in your starting lineup – unless one of your starters doesn’t play in that round, in which case you will receive points for your substitute. If he didn’t play either – you will get no points for that position. 

Before the World Cup kicks off you can make unlimited changes to your squad. Once the World Cup kicks off, you will be able to make 3 changes to your squad of 25. If you want to make more changes outside this, you can, but each change will cost you 20 points. 

And then it's Knock out rugby.

Come the quarter finals, you will pick a new XV each week. You have the option to make unlimited changes each week - but you have to stay within the weekly £800,000 salary cap.

Yay! Tell me how to do this! Also, I have no idea about rugby. I've tried to watch it, rules in hand, and it still baffles me. But I'm in, if you want to play.

Really wish I followed the rugby. I'm not brave enough to go in and play blind. I'd make a huge mess of it.  

Plus it's not clear, are you joining his team or playing against him?

Fantastic! I don't watch sports or follow rugby though so, not for me.  But I think it's nice that he's doing this and interacting.

My understanding of it whimsy is that each team would be competing against Damien but that anyone joining through his link would all be in the same league. I'm not sure if that is any clearer ?

 My thoughts exactly....interaction! 

TJ - you don't need to know anything about the rules of the game, you just pick a team and play manager - and you get points according to how well each individual performs in RL..... it would be more useful to know the players (which I don't!)

Don't know if he meant this invitation for his friends or everybody, but I think sense he tweeted about it's a open invitation!

Unfortunately I have no idea either how to play and I don't follow rugby, so I won't be part of thisbiggrin I wonder what prizes he will be arranging...

He loves the BFI and goes to the London Film Festival every year. I remember him tweeting about some of his favorite films in years past. I wonder what he'll mention this year?

So, I made a team for the fantasy rugger.  I don't know the game, but I wanted to play along as he seems to be keen on having fans join in the fun and will offer prizes.  And there are only 13 teams so far in Damien's league.  If anyone is on the fence I suggest you just do it, because the more the merrier!  Deadline is 8pm 18th Sept. (which I'm assuming is UK time)

 

There is an autofill function, or if you look at the Fantasy Rugger twitter acct they've tweeted what some of the pros have picked.  Or like me, you can make your life harder by researching, agonizing over choices, playing musical trading-off when you use up all your budget and still have subs to fill... then still manage to not know what the hell you're doing nor pick anyone the pros picked. LOL  But anyway, it's Damo & Damo fans twitter time, so should be fun!

 

Wonder if we should start a topic for it?

I've entered a team, but I have to confess I didn't pick the players.  Rugby used to be my fella's thing....he played in youth teams at county level, did a Sports Studies degree....  He doesn't really watch it, apart from the six nations, and when I suggested he entered a team he said he didn't know who's playing....but then last night - out of the blue - he offered to put together a team for me to enter.   I just came up with the team name!  I suspect he didn't want to take responsibility.....for all I know he's totally set me up with a crap team!  We shall see.....

So...much to my husband's dismay his carefully selected team have been replaced by players who are largely likely to go out in the first round!  My guess is that I accidentally hit 'autofill' on my touch screen before I entered it (it did seem to take a long time to load!) Oh well....
