You mean the plot itself? or the decision made by his character? I loved Damien in this, though some of the things happening to his character Jacob were difficult to watch! It is incredibly compelling, and as a short film is an impressively dramatic thriller, maybe because of the nature of Jacob's dilemma?
It was def overwhelming and in that sense hard to get your head around!
You know how you can watch a film at the cinema and come away with an indelible feeling in your soul? this little film did that to me, in less than a tenth of the time!
First impression was that it was like an extended movie trailer.
Second and most important impression was WOW! it was intense, atmospheric and just wonderful. Damien was such a presence and i couldn't take my eyes off him on screen. This just proves what a talent he is, i found it and him spellbinding. Loved the music at the end too.
i absolutely love this film! i think the entire story is told brilliantly in such a short period of time.
when the guy is ragging damien around in the chair he looks genuinley in pain! it makes me wanna jump in the screen and punch him in the face! (the guy doing to ragging obviously) lol
i like the twist at the end when jacob decides not to go back in. It makes a change to show a side to a character you wouldnt normally see!
Cant wait until damien is in a full length movie.......2 1/2 hours of #themolonyeffect!!! *sigh* go on then ;) lol xx

Me too, Su! if Damien has such presence in only a short film and is able to convey such intensity, imagine the kind of leading man in a film he would be! although...there are aspects the film industry and kinds of films that in my opinion compromise art ..for example that would change the ending of this short film into something more hollywoodified..and I guess I see Damien first and foremost as an artist...so imagining him as an action man or something maybe difficult for me..although hang on..........actually Damien in any kind of a film would be awesome and he is chameleon like talented enough to be able to pull anything off!
the twist at the end challenged me, and that made it an even more powerful piece. Quite a bold thing to do in terms of writing.
I had a look on Amazon and nothing. Haven't checked anywhere else but if Amazon don't have it then i don't think anywhere else would have it. I could only speculate that it's been downloaded, burned onto a DVD and sold like that. Check e-bay perhaps?
Hi Lisa I did an extensive web search and came up with zilch too...so came to the same conclusion! The film must be on a recording somewhere though..and it is a shame that a multi award winning Hanna Maria Heidrich film short is not available to purchase.. I would and I know many other fans would too!
On the subject of wanting a full length film of this, apparently Karen Gillan is on board to do a film called 'Occulus', which is a feature length remake of an award-winning short film of the same name; so the precedent is definitely there for such things to happen. Although, like with her film, there would be no guarantee they'd use any of the original cast.
I went through a stage where i was addicted to watching it :') just on youtube for hours on end flicking between the videos xD .. really inspired me i wrote loads of poems about it and stuff lol Xx

Anyway, must dash. Friend about to kill lots of people.
I really enjoyed this movie and I'm not usually into shorts. The non-linear structure gave an otherwise straight forward tale lots of intrigue. And as Sue and domino mentioned, that wold be a rare ending in a mainstream feature.
Maybe it's available on a compilation of shorts?

how very true UJ, the structure really does add to the tone and complexity! testament to the young director for that unique storytelling?
Available in any format would be delightful, all my searches - for compilations or otherwise = have proven fruitless, but maybe someone else will have more luck!
