Oooh! :)

I'm beginning to get a little bit excited (as well as nervous) about seeing the play on Saturday now.

Thanks again for sharing Matty :)

quick tip on where to sit during the show based on my experience in studio 1. if you say the 'stage' is based on the back wall being the front view. i sat in the second row on the seats under the balcony area. i'd recommend you sit here or stage right for the best view of Andrew doing his thing... assuming the performance covers the same 'area' each time.

see link to floor plans below:

http://www.arcolatheatre.com/about-arcola/spaces-and-hire-2/studios-1-and-2

on the pdf for studio 1 my seat is under the balcony so not shown. so i'd suggest you try here or on the 4 rows to the right. hope that helps and makes sense!?

We saw "Conquest" yesterday and it was fabulous! Thoroughly enjoyed the performances and the story and yes we got to meet Andrew afterwards. He is a very lovely young man and so gracious with his time. He signed our programmes and posed for pics and chatted with us for a bit and was impressed and I think a bit touched that three of us got up at 4am and travelled so far to see the play. Also got a hug. Absolutely lovely man and so gracious. Will talk more when I get home as am posting from my phone at the moment.

Sounds so amazing Lisa! thank you for giving us your roving report, I hope you're home safely now!

I think Matty said he only has net access at work... I am sure he'll be over this tomorrow!

Well i loved the play. It was one of those that you still went back to in your head and thought about long after you've watched it. That in my mind, makes an excellent play.

All of the performances were excellent. I was enchanted by all of them but i did like Andrew's performance as Seiffert particularly. He played his role with particular vulnerability. The Indian headdress was especially enchanting and have to admit, he looked utterly adorable in it.

We didn't sit 'front and centre' in front of the performers, we were sat to the right. So when Andrew was eating those meringues, we were sitting behind him, second row. I think in total there were perhaps 30 people there watching. I was particularly impressed by the meringue eating scene, he has to eat four of them twice a day. Now that is dedication for you.

The '179 steps' scene was adorable too. Made me smile, why i have no idea.

We met Andrew later on, we hung out in the small bar area and he appeared within five to ten minutes after the performance ended. I kind of took a step sideways, sort of waved at him and he smiled and came over. He introduced himself to me and my three companions with a lovely smile and a handshake, saying 'hello, i'm Andrew'.

We chatted for a few minutes about the performance, about Being Human, the BH fandom and how much Cutler was liked/loved. He seemed a little bit taken aback by that and genuinely bowled over and i told him to check out the Blog. He couldn't tell me if he's back for s5 (which makes me think that the blog hint 'he will rise' pertains to his character) and he was touched by the fact that three of our group (including me) had travelled so far (from Newcastle) and got up at 4am to see him and his play. He signed our programmes, graciously (and quite happily) agreed to photos and did so. We all got hugs and i got a squeeze of the arm and he was gone.

There is something about the Being Human actors that i think set them up slightly above the norm. I've been very lucky to be able to meet both Damien and Andrew within six weeks of each other (Andrew saw Damien in Leeds, said it was fantastic, mentioned 'lovely' Kate Bracken coming to see CotSP just the other week) and both of them have been completely charming and utter gentlemen. There is something about the cast, they're so appreciative of the work, the recognition and the quality of the scripts they get from BH, Andrew thinks Toby is a genius.

So there it is, my account of a very lovely, memorable day.

great review - sounds like you guys had an amazing time. any plans to upload your photos? i agree that BH is vastly under-rated in terms of acting talent & writing. all the leads - original and new line ups have been incredible in BH and beyond. i easily see Damien and Andrew reaching Aiden style 'hobbit' success in a few years time!!

The pic is on my Twitter account, same name as here. It isn't protected so feel free to have a look, my pic with Damien is also there.

I was going to add something else and i've completely forgotten. confuse

really new to twitter - about a week & half so just getting the hang of it. just found your photos with andrew & damien - both really nice. read you are just starting to watch Monroe - enjoy. i know andrew has done series 2 recently!? also if you didn't see it last year i'd advise tracking down 'frankenstein's wedding - live in leeds' that was on BBC Three. it & andrew obviously were amazing! unfortunately not out on dvd - but probably lurking on the internet somewhere.

Yeah, i'm two episodes into 'Monroe' and enjoying it. Mullery seems rather sweet at the moment but he hasn't had all that much to say just yet.

I've been told that i have to track down 'Frankenstein's Wedding' and i think my best bet is You Tube so i will once i've watched all of 'Monroe'. Love his singing voice (have seen a singing clip)

I remembered what i was going to say earlier!. I tweeted Andrew on Saturday to say thank you for taking the time to say hello to us northerners and wished him best of luck with the rest of the run and he responded! He said thanks for coming and that he enjoyed meeting us. Bless him, a sweetheart through and through and i can't believe he's only 23!, i have nephews that age and it makes me feel positively ancient.

Is anyone else planning on seeing this before it closes next week? I'd like to go, but don't fancy going on my own.

Great to read your reports everyone who went and fantastic to hear Andrew is also such a nice guy :D I was very sad I didn't get to see Conquest either, but living through you guys makes it a bit better :D Thanks so much for sharing your stories of the play and meeting him :)

And after I gave up seeing Cutler again in series 5, I now have rekindled hope.. Thanks for that Andrew :p

Hi San, thank you..your comment made me re-read the thread, I had overlooked that part about Cutler in your post Lisa! Cutler was a great character, the nature of his demise (wow... FX WIN!) seemed to guarantee he was proper dead :( but anything can happen in BH universe.....fingers crossed for his resurrection!

Something else Andrew shared about Cutler's final scene when he's melting and fiery and whatnot.

Make up took forever but he told us that apparently on the night that the final episode aired, his sister in law had to take his 12 year old niece out of the room because the make up was so realistic and she was really disturbed by it. I can imagine it can't have been very nice seeing Uncle Andrew looking like that, even if it was just pretend.
