Second episode was so much better than the first. They even did something different with Daleks. Hurrah! And what used to come across as arrogance with Clara now comes across as confidence. Interesting, and a relief.

I watched the opening episode and all the way through too! the second lost my attention unfortunately... cannot put my finger on why.

The first episode felt a bit self conscious in terms of trying to address the whole new Doctor thing.... Clara being chastised at the beginning was like the writers chastising the audience for missing the previous Doctor? And.. what you said UJ! they don't need to pander to the critics just have confidence on the decisions made and let Peter Capaldi do his thing. It was a bit hard not to see the baddie from The Three Muskateers in him though...

And of course... it was hard not thinking about 'what if' if Damien had been cast as the Doctor - considering he was up there with the bookies favourites - or Danny Pink!

I thought the second episode was better but I also kind of lost interest half way through too.  Like you, Domino, I can't really put my finger on why. I did like Capaldi better in this one though.  He seemed more himself and less frantic, which I am happy about.

I think I'm just majorly bored with Clara and her relationship with the Doctor and there is nothing for that until she leaves. No offense to the actress who plays her.  I think I just fundamentally don't like the character.

Same feelings here. I think Clara's character is holding doctor back, he is more darker and he is trying to convince her all the time and it seems that Clara took HUGE step back from doctor after he changed. I just wish she would go, new doctor needs different kind of companion. No offence either for Jenna, but it seems that changing the doctor changed her too. This ep was better, but, not great.

You know domino, i watched the second episode which introduced Danny Pink and i couldn't help but hear Damien say those words... he would've been interesting in that role!!

I have to admit, i did like the second episode, i'm slowly warming to New Doctor i think. I'm still curious and still watching. I'm wondering whether there's a connection between Journey Blue and Danny Pink...the fact that their surnames are colours and her brother died, he had a tear running down his cheek and seems to have suffered a loss, made me wonder. Most probably not but it's stayed with me.

Well....3 eps in and, tbh, I'm feeling a bit deflated!  I was massively looking forward to Peter Capaldi as the Doctor - and I still think that he will be excellent - but I've not felt particularly engaged by any of the stories so far.

I agree that far too much time was spent in the first episode seeming to apologise for the fact that he was the new Doctor...and I found the phone call from Matt Smith just a bit too indulgent to bear!  Which is a shame, because I actually think it was the best story-line so far (tho I was really disappointed that the dinosaur didn't last for longer!)

Ep 2 was never going to be the best for me 'cos I'm not a particularly big fan of the daleks - they just don't do it for me.... And Robin Hood?  I did laugh....but I also found him intensely annoying, and the bickering between him and the Doctor ultimately got on my nerves.  I found myself tutting at plot holes....which is never a good sign when you're actually first watching something!

And I'm still not engaged by Clara either....I have no explanation as to why.  I'd really like the Doctor to be a bit less angsty and do a lot less personal soul searching and maybe that's the problem......While he's off worrying if he's a good man, Clara is just always so damn perky!!

The reviews haven't been great. These 3 eps haven't been too good either. I love daleks, so the second episode was good for me but Doctor was bit too dark for my taste.

I liked Tom Riley, he did very best he could with the script. But his role was not my favorite. It seems we arte going to bounce from the dark episodes to happy episodes (ment for chlidren) and back to dark ones again..

They should have left more room for Capaldi to work, he is great when he gets his turn, and put that Clara away, she has been very big disappointment from the start of new series. She worked greatly with Matt, but with Capaldi she is saying that he is gay and pushing him away.. And acting like a chlid.

This episode was the first time i felt engaged with Capaldi as the new Doctor. I think i'm beginning to get an idea of what he's going to be like. Matt was very much fun, curiosity and child like but Capaldi isn't, he's a proper grumpy Time Lord, or at least he was in this episode. He actually made me laugh out loud in the episode. Really enjoyed Tom Riley too.

Enjoyed Tom Riley as Hood and Ben Miller as the Sheriff, but yeah, the bantering went on too long, even if it did have a point. Liked the tone of the 4th episode but it, like the rest of this series, lacks substance. Again, I liked where the episode ended up but it took too long to get there and so what about the middle. I hope it gets better.

The Robbin Hood episode was awful.  I think it was my least favorite of the New Doctor Who episodes. The last episode was okay though if a bit uneven.  I don't buy the relationship between Cara and Rupert Pink(?) for some reason. I think because it seems really rushed and forced.

Capaldi is okay so far. I'm not blow away but I don't dislike him.

My feelings on the new season though have been more "meh" than ever I'm sorry to say.

I feel you Jane, I have always been excited about new episodes but this new season.. I' not excited at all, I just hope it's good every time.

Last episode was good, there's been bit more darker episodes, darker doctor and I don't also buy Danny's and Clara's relationship.

Capaldi is good, I like him, but it seems that everything else sucks.

Sigh. Again, I like where it ended but getting there ... And I'm beginning not to feel Capaldi as the Doctor! It pains me to say it. I'm just not feeling it.

I thought the last three episodes were pretty solid. Capaldi is doing a great job and I don't miss Matt at all.  I will never get over David of course. The writing has improved.  I could have done without Clara though. I am so done with her. My boyfriend agrees.  He said, "I'm so sick of the Clara is special thing."  He finds her as annoying as I do.

I was a bit put off by what I felt was sort of an analogy of the abortion debate in the moon episode and possibly a statement of the immorality of abortion.  I wouldn't have seen it as such if it wasn't for the fact that the three humans in the room making the decisions were female. Maybe it was their way of saying that men should get their noses out of it, but maybe it was to drive home the point that this was indeed a statement on abortion and that women should understand that it is wrong and make a "wiser" decision.  Did anyone else notice this or am I just reading too much into it?  Is this something I'm seeing through my American cultural lens that others aren't?

If we hadn't had David Tennant and Matt Smith as the Doctor would you feel any different about Peter Capaldi? My favourite was Chris Ecclestone. I thought he was great as the Doctor and it was such a shame that he only did one season.

Random Jane, I totally agree with you about the abortion angle - I thought I was reading too much into it. I loved the idea of the episode and I loved the Doctor's actions and the consequences for the actors, but I found it reeking of anti-choice. And in the context of the story it threw up so much - Clara quite rightly asked the world to vote - as long as they lived in a developed industrial country and it happened to be night at the time. And then she totally ignored the majority decision! With the facts available they had to abort, and all anyone can do is make the best decision they can in the moment. You can't blame people for not taking things they couldn't possibly know into consideration. I love the idea that this extra-ordinary never seen before creature needed protection and deserved protection - but with no information, no way of knowing what would happen, Clara, simply, got effing lucky. She could just as easily have been the destroyer of worlds. So she made her decision for impractical sentimental (but not for humanity!) reasons. If Clara had spent the last couple of episodes dealing with the very worst of humanity and chose to condemn us because we invest so much time in killing each other and thinking our right to free music is more important than the right to a living wage, then her choosing to wipe out humanity to save an innocent (as in clean slate) would have been a lot more interesting. Instead we get it's Clara's fault that humanity now spreads its worst aspects amongst the stars, mining any planet we come to into contact with to death, enslaving new species with zero hour contracts and waging war for resources and religion all over the place. Whoopie flippin' do. Thank's for nothing, Clara. So, yeah, a very strange episode.

Loved the caretaker episode and I felt Capaldi got the balance right. It was just a bit too much in the previous couple of episodes. I believe I can now be happy with Who again - despite the above! Hurrah!

UJ - It seemed less anti-choice to me (the Doctor did make it clear that it was up to the women) but it did seem to pass a very pointed moral judgement on what the "correct" choice was to make. That's what really irked me.  I think I'm a little more sensitive when it comes to women's issues than other issues.  I fully admit that I don't have a problem when they make judgments that I agree with.  I agree that Clara was wrong to make the call she did after taking a vote and ignoring it, even if it did turn out okay in the end. Don't take a vote and ignore it.

Pearl - I can't really say how I would feel about Capaldi if not for the others before him.  I think he's doing a fine job and see nothing wrong with his performance or portrayal.  I quite like him. He seems like a more traditional Doctor.  The only one I didn't much care for was Matt.  He was too manic for my taste.  David has been my favorite so far. All of them took a few episodes to settle into their roles.  I don't know whether I prefer Capaldi or Eccleston yet.  I think they both made/make perfectly acceptable and capable Doctors.

Finally, an episode I can get excited about. Really enjoyed the first part of the finale. No 'buts'. Looking forward to the finale next week.

I have to hand it to them, I was not expecting that.

I think this season has been better than the last few. I'm really liking Capaldi.  If they would replace Clara and keep up with the decent writing I would look forward to them again I think.

Capaldi has been bit more darker Doctor than the others. Well, I guess I could get used to that. Didn't like much Danny Pink at all. Waiting for X-mas special, we saw a climpce of Santa at the ending...

It's okay. You didn't give anything away. I forget that I'm always a full week behind on that show.

We just finished the season finale.  I thought it was terrible. The first part was so good.

Yeah, ending was bit weird. And faith of Danny Pink was kind of awful. First part gave so much possibilities, and they kind of crushed them. Waiting for X-mas special. Hope it will be good.
