We have all talked about our fave Hal quotes here countless times, but I was rather surprised to realise that we do not have a topic dedicated just to them.
Being Human series 4 is full to brimming with genius lines for Hal..what are your favourites?
a "preforming" monkey is an interesting concept Sami! Oh yes, you made an excellent choice for your siggy
You think I'm relaxing. This is me holding on by my fingernails."
"You make me do that I won't be responsible for my actions."
"Then it is time to declare your intentions. First write her a poem and then speak to her father."
"I knew a ghost whose unfinished business was to castrate her brother-in-law. Something to do with inappropriate Salsa dancing."
"It's not dissatisfaction. It's a feeling more akin to having been born in captivity. A sinking realization that you're dreams are just too big, too rich for this domestic world."
I agree with you Lisa, Episode 2, '1955' has some incredible Hal speeches, I think I literally held my breath as Damien delivered the lines of both the major ones in the pawn shop.
Another fave Hal line from the same episode:
"You don’t think this is intended to help us bond do you, Some random quest he imagines will bring us together?"
I think the first one of these is my most favorite Hal line. (I couldnt get the first to copy without the other one coming with it but the other quote is quite a good one also )

It's a really nice look you've got going on there
Oh but we do, definitely! and great point too, there are lots of little Halisms that slip into my convos too! "not quite" and "very sorry" come to mind immediately!
I chuckle when Hal says "a barn?" in such outraged tones.
And when he wakes from his blood-drunken stupor and says 'something something something' as well as the dressing up box quote that Su eventually had tattooed on her arm.
. I don't think I've laughed as much in a being human episode as this one !!! "This is a 2 sets of marigolds problem" I screamed with laughter!!! .:D xxx

My name is Ciara and I've been on the Kia-Ora!!!! :D
"people on board a ship that's capsizing don't use that many exclamation marks"
but also the heavier ones were great lines too..
"drinking blood means I have become the man i fear. drinking blood is the overture to catastrophe."
"trust me, you don't want to see a world where i am leading the vampires" (reminded me of Annie, and the Hal of the future she had been shown by Eve...)
"500 years of murder and torment, round and round we go....evil doesn't die, it just passes like a parcel, from year to year, body to body... i live on i survive while good people die around me, heroes die.."
I've had real trouble deciding. I love all of the above, and there are many others, but I thought I'd get these in before ep 2 happens...
'I should've left a clue like, I dunno, locking him in a cellar and tying him to a fucking radiator'
The scene is really emotionally charged, Crumb is on the loose, they've started bickering, and things are not good for Hal. The last thing you would expect to do at such a moment is laugh - but that's what I love so much about being human. And it's so totally in character for Hal to say!
'I've been dry for over 60 years'
This gives me the chills! Just for that moment, while he's talking to Mr Rook, a different Hal emerges. He's boastful, arrogant, and above all it's a lie......even if you ignore the 2 glasses he had with Cutler, and the licking blood off the floor, it's still a lie. It puts my heart in my mouth!
'Then we kill him - yes, I remember that bit'
The 1918 flashback scenes show a side of Hal that we've not seen before. He's still arrogant, ****y and confident but less 'carnal' than in 1855, and less sadistic than 1955. He appears contented, capable of forming friendships......and flirtatious. And I loved him! I presume that we will see more of this story, but I doubt that we're going to see any more of this Hal so I had to put in a 1918 quote.
There are so many more (although I must say I think Alex got some of the best lines in this ep) but if you watched these three clips in succession without ever having watched being human, I think you would seriously doubt that they were the same person.
Oh! thank you for bumping this topic up Pearl! I had missed fifi's previous post and yes I agree!
LOVE all those quotes from series 5 fifi and your analysis of them. Despite many re-watches I am still in that head vibrating like a gong stage, unable to be that coherent about it - but there were a few almost double take moments in this series where Hals' motives was more ambiguous...and some of the things he was saying were a bit of a head scratcher..like the being dry for over 60 years and the whole Lady Mary episode!
just me or was there overall less Hal comedy in this series? episode 1 probably had the most?
