I have just bought my tickets for Joe McElderry's concert in Bournemouth on 13 July this year. I am so glad he is coming down south as most of his gigs are in the north or north-east! I am going with my sister and we will stay over until the following day as it is difficult to get back to the Isle of Wight after a concert as the ferry companies have cancelled the overnight ferry and there isn't one until 4am!
I am really looking forward to it as Joe does a fantastic live set. We saw him at the Festival Hall on his Classic tour in 2011 (Tim Rice was in the audience) and he was brilliant.
We are also going to see High Society at the Mayflower in Southampton on 9 May and then in October we have booked to see Jesus Christ Superstar at the NIA in Birmingham!
I may catch the Carolina Chocolate Drops at the end of April (American folk band). We have tickets to see The Postal Service in June (an American electronic band). Also, I may see Peter Murphy. I haven't decided yet. He'll be doing all Bauhaus songs and it's actually in my city. I've seen him solo about 4 times now and with Bauhaus on tour with Nine Inch Nails once, so I don't know maybe. That's all I'm aware of at the moment. I'm sure some opportunities to see some smaller local bands will come up this summer. I thought about driving to Atlanta to see Depeche Mode, but ehh...I don't think I'll bother driving 5 hours for what would surely be nosebleed seats.

Pearl, I saw Jesus Christ Superstar at the O2 last year, it was very good, although a bit strange seeing a musical in a big arena (even though it was written that way).
My husband and I went to see The Audience last night and that was superb (It's Helen Mirren playing The Queen and is about her meetings with Prime Ministers) - and lot funnier than one might think as well.
Coming up, I'm off to see Brian Kennedy (who's an Irish singer) with one of my friends next week up in Camden, then I have tickets to see Robbie Williams and The Killers in quick succession at Wembley Stadium and Derren Brown in the West End in July. All of them I've seen before and are brilliant in their own ways, but I'm looking forward to seeing Derren the most; his shows are fantastic and not to be missed.
Got no plays or musicals coming up though, which is terrible! We're hoping to book the Book of Mormon once the tickets get a little cheaper, lol...
I have to admit that I used to travel all over the country going to concerts and things (one day I'll confess all, lol!), but being in London there's just so much opportunity to see stuff, I'd so miss it if I moved away!
I have a few gigs to look forward to this year: New Model Army next month, The Levellers in June. Going to Download Festival on the Sunday, also in June, to see 30 Seconds to Mars and Rammstein. Then quiet for a bit until October when I go to see Wardruna (which is "a Norwegian musical constellation set out to explore and evoke the depths of Norse wisdom and spirituality"), then finally December I'll see The Mission and Fields of the Nephilim who are doing some dates together.
I also love to see comedians live. Saw the wonderful Milton Jones earlier this month and have Bill Bailey to laugh at and alongside in October.
For theatre, 'Comedy of Errors' in a wonderful open air theatre in July and will most likely attend one or two of the plays in the 'Cambridge Shakespeare Festival' in the summer (weather allowing ofc!). I'm am totally squee about going to see David Tennant in Richard II in January of next year too:0D
I'd love to see Book of Mormon too, Prada. I tried to interest my eldest sister but she didn't bite.
But I'm over the moon as I finally got tickets for the NT's Othello. Finally! I heard about it last summer, had to be patient, and then I was thwarted due to the NT's booking policy. But finally, I have my ticket!

You'll get to go to something one day Kayla; I didn't go to my first concert until I was 14 (Hue and Cry, Birmingham Town Hall, May 1989!!). I do worry when I see young kids (under the age of eight) at big gigs, because they have no hearing protection and, generally, are quite bored, so I think it's better to wait...
Last night was my trip to see Brian Kennedy at the Irish Centre. He was excellent as always and so relaxed with his audience, actively encouraging us to ask questions which would then determine which songs he played. And afterwards he always does a signing and photo session, which is lovely - those of you who follow me on Twitter might have seen the pic.
So my next one is Robbie I think in June...and I think Wet Wet Wet are announcing a tour tomorrow so I'll definitely be going to see them (my first proper musical crush there! ).
I really want to see The Book of Mormon too. It's coming through here in December. Can't buy tickets yet but I'm keeping an eye on it.
I know how you feel, Kayla. I didn't get to go to a concert until college. My parents wouldn't let me go even in High School. My first concert was The Cure. I've been to several concerts a year since.
I missed all of the good 80's concerts. :o( Luckily I did get to see two of my favorites (Tears for Fears and Echo & the Bunnymen) on reunion tours. It's not quite the same but still a dream come true.

So far this year i have seen Suede and Harry Hill.
I will be seeing IAMX, Eddie Izzard and Colin Hoult. I shall be seeing The Rocky Horror Picture Show in June and going to The Hop Farm Festival in July and The Edinburgh Festival in August.
Don't worry about not seeing gigs or festivals so young. My first music concert was in 2002 when I was 66! And I've only been to one festival which was Bestival in 2007 (I think). Saw Will Young - fell over in the mud - went home!
Kayla, I think there's no need to hurry. I know you don't want to hear this but some (most) gigs can be pretty brutal (looking at your top 3...) so it's better to wait until you're older and can handle that. Believe me ;) I started going to local gigs when I was 16, and my first really big gig was a festival performance of Franz Ferdinand when I was 18 and I can say it was amazing but painful experience :D
Anyway I hope I get to see Everything Everything this year plus I'm still waiting for more tour dates from my babies Arctic Monkeys.
It's odd to see really young children at a concert. A friend and her husband went to a Nickelback concert and were surprised to see some folks brought their kids. Even the lead singer announced from the stage, "Why are there so many kids here? We'll try to watch what we say, but guys, you know what we're like."
There are some acts that I can understand, because they're aimed at kids (I will confess to feeling very old at an S Club 7 gig once - was told to sit down because I was too tall as well, which was rude! ), but my friend took their then 5-year old child to see Jamiroquai because she loved Cosmic Girl and I thought that was a bit weird I know kids will get disappointed if they can't go (and their parents do!), but there's definitely a level where it's inappropriate.
To be honest, I'd be worried about other crowd goers as well - I've seen some nasty scenes when people get too drunk (that I don't get either - if you've paid £50 to be there, at least listen to the music! You can get pissed anywhere!) Scarily, the worst I saw was at bloody Westlife!!!

Saemay and I are going to see Tom Odell in 3 weeks!!!
(Just in case someone doesn't know who that is, his song "Can't Pretend" is the song playing when The Trinity are walking the empty streets of Cardiff in Ep. 6 (Plus it was used on the S5 trailer) We're calling that a tangential Being Human Fieldtrip.

This is true. I swear I'm a drunk magnet and the drunkest person at the show will hone in on me and stand next to me causing a scene the whole time!
A fight broke out next to me at a She Wants Revenge show a couple of years ago. It was bad enough that the singer stopped the show for a minute and said, "Either that's some new modern dance that I'm not familiar with or there's a fight in the crowd." That was kind of funny. The worst incident I've heard about is a friend that once ended up in a mosh pit (mid-90's) and got his face broken. He now has a metal plate in his face around his eye. It's kind of amazing because you would never know unless he told you.
Most shows aren't that bad, but yeah, it's best if you don't go to some shows until you are old enough to handle crazy.

Regarding drunken scenes at gigs, I went with several others to see Will Young at Reigate (open air) and before the concert started there was a kerfuffle with two women who wanted their young children to get down the front (it was a standing concert). They kept on and on saying that the kids couldn't see and why couldn't they get to the front. At the front there was a metal barrier and the kids would have been pushed up against it by the people behind them. Security said they could stand at the side but the women didn't want that. They had been drinking all the time they were there and started abusing a friend of mine because she wouldn't move. In the end another person I knew gave them a mouthful and they slunk off, taking their kids with them. I think they went to the side in the end.
Yay! I'm off to see one of my favourite bands, Wet Wet Wet, again in December! And, due to my tendency to be overly obsessive about my favourite acts, I have tickets for not one, but five venues! And my worst ticket is 7th row, so double yay!
So I'm going to have a mad week and a bit whilst I drive about from Brighton to Cardiff to London to Bournemouth and then to Birmingham! Wooooooo...
(bit overexcited, sorry lol! I really should learn to act my age...)

Finally! Foals are coming to my country! Unfortunately it's a festival show (not a fan of festivals) but looks like the bands I want to see (Foals, Klaxons, Queens of the Stone Age) are playing in one day so I'll make just a one day trip :)
As there isn't a thread for musicals, I thought I would post in here that my sister and I went to see High Society yesterday. It was great and we really enjoyed it.
Dexter (the Bing Crosby role) was played by Michael Praed and has a lovely voice and was perfect in the role. The Mike Connor part was played by Daniel Boys, who was in Any Dream Will Do on TV when Lee Mead won the role of Joseph. Daniel has a beautiful voice and, I think, he sang You're Sensational better than Frank Sinatra!
The last time I saw Michael Praed was at the Beck Theatre, Hayes, in a production of Sleuth with Simon Mckorkindale ... It was years ago but I'm sure I've remembered that correctly.
