I think they got their information from Twitter. There's nothing in that article that we didn't discover for ourselves prior via Twitter.
But yay, i'm so thrilled to see it confirmed. If it's just the one episode then you never know who could watch that episode, clap eyes on our boy, have a lightbulb moment and offer him something amazing and lucrative.
Obviously Digital Spy have contacts but at this point I'm wondering if this is in fact based on the same info we have and therefore 'guest role' is still speculative. I'm with you Lisa, there is not enough info for it to be something they know more specifics about than we do.
I am just delighted for Damien that he has a role in this prime time high profile BBC One award nominated drama. The size of the part (steady) is not as important as the fact he has been cast in such a high caliber piece of television.
Yeah...I think digital spy are speculating. I feel inclined to speculate the same way myself, but I'd love to be proved wrong. Either way I agree that it's brilliant for Damien to be associated with some proper quality tv drama.....and brilliant for us that he'll be back on tv - albeit not til next year!
Another feature (with a painful misspelling of Damien's name, feel bad for pointing it out but it's a bit of a glaring oversight ) this one from scifipulse.com.

That one sounds like an almost word-for-word rehash of Digital Spy, lol. Noone seems to have any more info than what we gleaned the other day, lol.
Good that he's "famous" enough to be written about though!
Totes... Damien made a big impact with Hal, all the regular online review sites rate him extremely highly often singling him out for excelling in his portrayal. He really does deserve lead roles, but we may have to accept that for actors super talent is not always the immediate key to that... I personally have no doubt though that the quintessential something damien has as an actor will be noticed by a wider audience and super stardom will be kicking his door down.
I've been following it all on Twitter and keep hoping for more details! As in hopefully he's in every episode so we can see him a bit more! Still, even if it's just one episode, it seems like a good show to be on. I know a lot of my American friends watched the first season on BBC America, so there is the chance for him to further expand his audience. Considering how everyone who sees him always seems to end up captivated by his talent, the more people who can see him, the better. It's bound to lead to even bigger and better things! *fingers crossed*
Thank you for posting the extra info Pearl, Keep us updated if any further info crops up on the POV board! I have also been checking imdb, as one who updates Damo's page there I am holding back from adding anything at the rumour stage to his filmography just yet.
As this news sinks in I am beginning to realise just how wonderful it is, I'm so excited, even a cameo or one episode role in a BBC One Drama for Damo! It's amazing.
It would be wonderful for some official mention, r a hint from Damien, so we can truly celebrate without any niggling feelings that we are not supposed to be... or that this is speculative rumour and he was just playing dress up on the set..
If he was playing dress up, surely he would have picked a better outfit! No, I am convinced he is playing a significant role, even if it is only for one episode. Cup half full for me!

Agree totally!
Hopefully, there are two options - major role in one episode (possibly even the first if they only started filming at the beginning of the week) or a slightly more minor role across the whole series - I can't see him muscling into the main spots and he wasn't in police uniform, so my fingers are crossed that he's either a trainee detective or an assistant to Captain Jackson.
Joe McElderry is a young singer who won the sixth series of X-Factor here in the UK. He also won Popstar to Operastar in 2011. He is 21 years old and has a beautiful voice. He can sing classical as well as pop. I am seeing him in July in a concert.

But he looks so sweet in that photo that it's hard to imagine him being a bad guy! Although obviously I know that doesn't necessarily mean anything....
It's easy to assume that he will have some connection with Glenn Speers' character from the tweet and the photo, but he's certainly better dressed. It's going to be such a long time before we know anything as it won't even air until next year, so I'm desperately trying not to speculate too much!

The strange thing is that I went on Joe McElderry's fan site and everyone is in a state of great excitement as he is rumoured to be performing at a concert in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! It felt like history repeating itself.
