however, I am genuinely just as excited for Damien in a guest role as a major role! For all the reasons we have all given in this topic - the quality of the production, the profile of the show and him being on our TVs again. For me this press release is for official confirmation of his casting, rather than it remaining an internet rumour and a picture that appeared then disappeared..

I woudn't read too much into the tone of the response though, replying to emails on a hand held device, as people often do now, can be a one sentence affair at the best of times, but if a person is especially busy as I suspect the head of Tiger Aspect is, we are extremely lucky to have any response at all, it's very good of them to communicate.

Anyone in need of a bit of blind optimism/fantasy?

Damien did, indeed, have a small guest role, but after filming for a couple of days they recognised his obvious talents and decided that they couldn't let him go.  So they are now frantically re-writing the series with him as a major character - hence the delay in the press release....

Works for me!

I think he's still in Dublin. Filming for series 2 began apparently on April 29th, surely if he was filming a one episode guest slot then he'd be done now? so maybe it's more than one episode (or he could just be spending some time with his family...) but my spider senses are tingling a little bit. Probably wishful thinking (but he's gone into virtual twitter silence again....)

It's not made clear, that's true; there's nothing directly linked to Twitter from the Ripper Street page on the Beeb website (apart from the generic BBC One Twitter account)

I don't think the H Division twitter page is official - due to the use of the word 'illicit' on the profile page!

I am so excited! i feel like we've just been given permission to be excited, legitimately, not just due to some leaked info and picture that appeared then disappeared!

No idea Su, I don't think they do either? No reason given for the delay for the press release but as soon as we hear I'll obviously let everyone know.

Damien in a period drama..? don't mind if we do! action

 It's gone down the page now.  Someone said that you can change your name if you want!

 

There is some footage of filming on YouTube but no sign of our man!  Just someone with a mobile phone I think.  And it's very recent, like today!
