Thanks guys.  I called the theater.  Today and tomorrow are the last days for shows and they are all sold out.  I had to give the tickets to a friend ($180, their lucky day).  I don't have time to deal with it.  I have to go find funeral clothes and a coat that fits so I won't be any more miserable than necessary.   cry

I'm really not a callous, heartless person.  My grandfather had bad Alzheimer's for the last 3 years or so.  He's effectively been dead for years.

Im going to see another Irishman Andrew Scott in Birdland at Royal Court Theatre in April and May. It sounds very interesting and by the sounds of it its a one man play.

Andrew Scott is a terrific actor, as Moriarty and i saw a short excerpt that he did for the NTL 50 performance on BBC2 back in November (Angels in America) and he was fantastic in that too.

I'll be seeing the NTL Live showing of Coriolanus at my local Vue on Thursday evening. The stars aligned for once and my husband's shift meant i can see it even if it's on a big screen instead of in the actual theatre itself. So looking forward to it :)

Totally missed Coriolanus. D'oh! No more. Never again! I will be on my toes from now on.

Saw Jeeves and Wooster. What an absolute treat. Silliness and much fun, with old fashioned theatre craft as much as a star as the very hard working actors. Almost.

Aidan Turner's girlfriend, Sarah Greene is also in that production knightley :) Enjoy!

I've booked a ticket to see the 'One Man Two Guvnors' tour which is returning to my part of the world end of July, beginning of August. It toured i think it was last year, and i missed it then because i was on holiday and that time Rufus Hound was in the James Corden role. I have no idea who will be in this tour but i'm looking forward to seeing it.

The 'Jeeves and Wooster A Perfect Nonsense' play is touring later this year and coming to my part of the world in October. Again no idea who will be in this cast (can't see it being Stephen Mangan and Matthew MacFadyen) but i would really like to see this but tickets aren't going on sale for another week.

I have neglected this poor topic for too long.

Well done in getting tickets for 'The Cripple...' Knightley, it's supposed to be amazing.

Also well done to Lisa for 'One Man, Two Guvnors' We saw that back in 2012 (just after James Corden left) and it was very funny indeed. It's definitely also worth getting tix for 'Perfect Nonsense'. It was a lot better than I expected and, if you get the right Wooster (Stephen Mangan was amazing) then it'll be hilarious.

We've been to the theatre quite a bit of late and seen some really different stuff. The Body of An American I've already spoken about elsewhere, but Greg and I have also taken in War Horse - don't know why I left it so long to see it, it's heart-breaking and so emotional - Stephen Ward, which is the musical set around the Profumo scandal; good, but I think you need to know the background a bit to really appreciate it, and The Duck House with Ben Miller. Very farcical in it's style, but amusing nonetheless.

I'm hoping to catch the NTL broadcast of War Horse on 30 Mar. Just need to check if anyone wishes to join me. I know my sis fancies it. Mustn't let the awful Speilberg movie put me off.

The original Jeeves and Wooster were, of course, fantatsic, and I see no reason why Mark Heap and Robert Webb be wont also be fabulous.

UJ, i'm seeing the touring production of 'A Perfect Nonsense' so i have no idea who is in the touring cast just yet. The touring cast of 'One Man Two Guvnors' seems to be a who's who of past soap opera actors.

I wish the NT released their Lives on DVD (Damo!). I'd love to see Cordon in One Man, Two Guvnors. Haven't seen that on the encore programme, strangely.

Never did get around to seeing War Horse. Will have to keep a look out for future ones. And there's always the option of seeing the actual show still!

I ended up going to 8 shows of Birdland after all. After they announced the rest of the cast including (Being Human alumni) Alex Price i was very happy!

I thought it was a really great play i think there was a lot more depth to it than people seem to realise. First time going to theatre.

I did get to meet Andrew Scott (4 times) picture 3 times but it was pretty busy at the stage door I didnt get to talk to him... to be honest all i could manage was a shy "can you sign this please" and "can i get a picture please". He is the first actor Ive got to meet (photo & signature).

Alex i met twice he is absolutely adorable. The last shows was yesterday I went to both. Alex just walking around outside. I had been chatting to a lady who i met at the show. Called him over where we were sitting (Well i say that he heard me say Oh wow Alex). Fiona who i was chatting to got her picture first. Then I asked nervously "Would you sign dvds even though you have only been in 1 episode" I got a priceless response "I'll sign anything" too which i mumbled a string of words i think was "Oh my god cool wow" to his face.
Pulled out all these dvd covers. He signed them all. I kept mumbling things right in front of him. one was response to a girl saying "you came prepared" i said "your making it sound weird". the other giving him box set of merlin and saying "I dont know where you are going to sign on that... just sign anywhere you want".

When he got to Father Brown he said he was starting filming on Monday (2nd June) i was really suprised he'll have no break between theatre and that!! He is the first actor ive had sign dvd cover for me!! Then i got a picture. Pretty happy about it.
He very casually went over and sat on the steps outside the theatre with other actor in birdland (Daniel C..?). Now concidering they were sitting what 5/6 meters away from us im pretty sure he heard what we was saying anyway. Fiona asked me what he had been in. I went through Being Human then telling her to google Penny Dreadful. So at that point when im explaining "first episode he is completely butt naked" hes walked back passed us. Oh great!! I need to have someone else to speak for me in cases like this, i say stupid things at wrong times.

Nothing really about Alex online at all though. No fan pages or anything even. So i went there and created a Fan Page on twitter (to start) as you do. If any of you have twitter follow. Its www.twitter.com/AlexPriceFans

Also got to meet the writer of Birdland Simon Stephens. He signed all the books i had of hes. First writer/playwright ive had sign books for me!!

A lot of firsts!!

Also Mark Gatiss was at the matinee show so met him as well doubt if i will again so i asked for a picture. He ask if i was going to the show i told i was and id been to 8 shows!! Seriously i shouldnt been in charge of my gob when i met people i say stupid things!!

Saw Jeremy Dyson's Ghost Stories!

Old fashioned scary story telling. Literally. Fascinating to see horror done on stage. Most affective. Eeek!

Saw the utterly joyful, high energy and hysterically funny Book of Mormon. Offensive? Yeah, be offended by war, imperialism and FGM. Mormon has it all.

On Monday I saw a play in a bowling alley. It was actually set in a bowling alley. Great energy as the audience cheered the teams on! The theatre company works specifically with actors with disabilities. The cast devise and write the show themselves. It was a simple tale told with loads of heart. A fun night out.

Yesterday I was at the Tristian Bates theatre at the Actors Centre. A series of playlets, one of which was written by a mate, on the theme of significant others. Each playlet was written in five days! I hope to try it next year, if they'll have me. Another fine night out.

I'm tired!

Back in August me and Laura went to see The Crucible at The Old Vic with Richard Armitage.  I studied The Crucible for both 'O' and 'A' level English.....and still loved it(!) although I'd never actually seen it on stage before - haven't seen the film either - so I was really looking forward to it.  I'd also never been to the Old Vic before...and was really looking forward to that too.  Richard Armitage was an added bonus....!

Obviously I know the play inside out- but I was totally gripped by it....it was an absolutely fantastic production.  Richard Armitage was brilliant....especially in the first half when he was being all moody!  Must admit that I found the angsty bits towards the end a little bit ott (am I allowed to say that about Richard Armitage?) but the quality of acting was amazing right across the cast....especially the young girls whose posession scenes were really uncomfortable to watch.  Not sure how much longer it's on for - but it's definately worth going to see....

Went to see Maxine Peake as Hamlet at the Royal Exchange in Manchester on Saturday.

It was an excellent production....I especially liked the ghosty effect which was created by loads of lightbulbs strung from the roof at different heights which flickered with an eerie orange light to represent the presence of Hamlet's father until he eventually appeared and the lights were lowered for him and Hamlet to walk between them.  Sitting where I was right at the top they were right infront of me (not sure how obvious they were from lower down) and it was incredibly effective.

Hamlet is a pretty meaty part....and I suspect it is usually played by a more mature actor, with enough experience to handle it.  I hadn't read any reviews, and didn't know whether Maxine Peake was going to play Hamlet as a woman or a man.....she played him as a man - or rather (at least from where I was sitting) she appeared to be a boy of about 15 or 16 (tho some of the other male characters were played by and as women)  Hamlet is so full of vulnerabilty that it suited the part fantastically, and I actually mostly forgot that it was Maxine Peake playing the part and not, in fact, a teenage boy!  Can't really give her any higher praise than that, can I?

Wow, fifi, I'l look out for that should it transfer to London. I like Maxine Peake and I enjoy Hamlet.

Saw Martin Freeman last night as Dick the - Richard III at the Trafalgar Studios. Another wow! It must be my word for the day. Forget about the everyman nice guy Freeman has patented. He's a total sociopath in this blood drenched production. Great fun.

I didn't know where I could post its a question (a couple) because this is the only fan forum I joined that people actually use. It about theatre, fanbases & actors.

I'm very new to theatre. In this post I posted my first ever theatre expirence.

Now I went to my second theatre I went to see the lead but wasn't that taken back by the performance to be honest. However one of the other actors was incredible (I'd never seen before & also understudied for the lead). I only had 2 tickets to see the show... I bought more just in case the lead didn't turn up for a show plus he is stage actor not on TV. All 6 lead was there and then when he was unwell I bought a ticket just to see the understudy!!! I did get to say hello a few times signing/photo after shows because well pretty much all the cast were ignored by the crowds waiting at stage door.

I got tickets to see the next theatre he done because well he was amazing to watch.

Now here is the thing. I had been twice then after the 3rd show (I was with someone) we found him after the show in the pub got him to sign my programme. A little chat then seemed to know I had been a couple of times to the show so far & asked me why I go to same shows multiple times & do I get bored. It was an akward question... I mummbled something then completely forgot to ask for a photo.

I don't know if going multiple times to a show is weird? I've only gone to shows I've wanted to see an actor in. And for different reasons. But does that come across a weird or not? Also I know you guys go see Damien (actually any actors you've seen & met). Is it not odd or weird that the actor reconised you? I'm fine with going up to the actor asking them to sign/photo but its then pretty odd to then have them ask akward questions. I've got 2 more tickets for the play and I don't really want to go back knowing everyone knows I'm that one who is going 3 times already. Plus I don't really want to go up to him to even ask for a photo just in case he is thinking ''Oh god not her again''!!

Do you guys get what I mean?

I don't think you should worry about it. If you want to see the show then you should go. You shouldn't be put off doing something you enjoy because of what other people might think. Most actors are usually flattered that people come to see them. Perhaps he didn't know what to say and just asked the first question that came into his head, or perhaps he was just having a bad day. Lots of people go to see shows more than once.

It's a very interesting question, carrie.......I've actually had this conversation with a number of people!

Personally I don't think going to see any live performance multiple times is at all weird....it's not considered unusual for a person to watch the same film or tv series repeatedly and that is identical every single time.  A live performance is never the same twice.  I went to see The Body of an American 3 times in total - admittedly I'd got tickets to 2 different performances before it even opened - because it was Damien...and I went with 2 different groups of people - but I went the 3rd time just because it was so good that I wanted to see it again.  And I have previously seen productions (non Damien related!) which I've enjoyed so much that I've persuaded somebody else to see it to give me an excuse to go again!

As I said I've had this conversation with a few people...and yes, some people do think it's weird - but a lot of other people do things which I find weird!  I agree totally with Rosie - if you enjoy it, then why on earth not?!  At the end of the day it doesn't matter in the slightest what other people think.

I'm not in a position to comment on what it's like to be recognised by an actor, though, as I've only really met Damien once, and I'm pretty sure that he wouldn't recognise me (and I've never met anyone else!).....but yes - I'm sure most actors would be flattered!
