I assumed it was a mistake and they meant series 2 unless the writer has accidentally let something slip!
Surely the ending of series 2 was too big a storyline to just gloss over it. The four year gap in the setting of series three is always the problem though. If we don't find out what happens to Flight it will be very frustrating. It doesn't sound like Damien has been involved in much of the filming so we just have to hope that, as domino suggested, he perhaps filmed some scenes earlier, and these might wrap up Flight's story.
Yeah, it might be an error domino, but there is always the possibility that is not!! ;D And you are right Rosie, he has been quiet about Ripper Street.. But Lets hope Damien has been quiet because he is involved, shall we? ;)
Damien does seem to have been a busy boy this year so maybe he hasn't had time to film for Ripper Street? As long as they don't kill off the character of Flight he could make a surprise return in series 4 instead!
I'm still hoping he managed to fit in some filming in during one of the periods when we didn't hear anything from him on Twitter and that Flight's story is wrapped up in some kind of satisfactory way (although the most satisfactory thing would be for Flight to feature heavily in series 3!). Damien tweeted a bit from the filming of Suspects and Kill Your Friends so he seemed to be free to do other things between those times, and this latest thing he is doing, as far as we can tell. I am assuming Flight will not be returning as one of the main cast as it doesn't sound like Damien would have had time for that. Perhaps if there are scenes when it is just him then he didn't need to fit in with the main cast filming, for example, if he was in prison or on a ship to America. If the conclusion of the Shine/Flight storyline is going to be a surprise then if Damien mentioned it, it would spoil everything for the viewers and we wouldn't want that!
It looks like Ripper Street series 2 will be forming part of the new line up of programmes on Drama (channel 20 on Freeview). Albert Flight features briefly towards the end of the trailer.
As if I need any more excuses for a series 2 re-watch! Despite having watched it at least 20 times already I'll still watch it again on tv! Exciting to see Damien as Flight in the trailer albeit briefly
I can only see Ripper Street Series 1 stuff on the Drama channel website Rosie, and according to the Radio Time, series 1 begins next Thursday...do you think they will continue on with Series 2?
They've already shown series 1 on Drama a few months ago and the clips they show in the trailer are all from series 2. The trailer has lots of dramas in it and just says coming soon without any indication of dates. So i guess they could show series 1 again and have 2 after that
Yes I wondered that too Rosie (see my last post!) their website has no mention of Ripper Street 2, no episode guides or trailers which is a tad confusing, but I have seen the trailer on the actual channel on TV now and there are 2 Damo glimspes and other footage from Series 2 so it has to be!
(even though I have the dvd and can watch at anytime, it is still exciting when Damo is on live terrestrial TV!)

I know what you mean! I still squee at the sight of Albert Flight on real TV! I've only spotted one Damo glimpse - will have to keep my eyes peeled for the other!
Thought I'd just sneak in here and say how much I loved ripper street! It's one of those show's that having DaMo on just made it 100% better because I really enjoy period shows with such drama ... which Is why I guess they are called Period Drama's !! ahah :) Personally I didn't really like Damien's character and I can't quite place my finger on it but I'm a funny thing... I guess I just wanted to see MORE of him :')
What my hubby said when we were watching: "he's a bit of a dweeb in this one" lol. I felt Albert was in a grey area. You couldn't really like him/warm up to him because the main trio didn't. But you also couldn't hate him for his actions completely because he wasn't exactly evil. He was in with the wrong people, but had joined them under extenuating circumstances. He was ambitious, but clearly in over his head. He aided and abetted some horrific deeds, but was remorseful and in some cases ignorant. And he was hardly given enough time to develop. Had I not been a Damo fan I wouldn't have liked his character at all.

I'm not sure if my view of Albert is different because this was the first thing I saw Damien in and Ripper Street is my favourite show. I love the character of Flight but I think that came more at the end of the series when you find out about what he did and how remorseful he is. But I agree he isn't very likeable as a character - too standoffish, too stroppy, too secretive. I agree Whimsy that he is completely out of his depth but for me it just makes you want to look after him! I would have loved to see how the character would have developed after the end of series 2, whether that would have been the making of Albert.
What I couldn't understand was that there was absolutely no mention of either Albert Flight or Inspector Shine in series 3. You would think they never existed! Tying up their story would have helped.
I know Pearl, it was very frustrating! There were vague mentions of 'what happened four years ago' but not even a sniff of what really happened. Not even a mention if either of them were dead or alive.
I'm not sure I'll ever get over how the whole Shine/Flight storyline was ignored in s3! And I agree Rosie - Flight was so much more interesting and sympathetc by the end of s2.....which makes it even harder to reconcile. As Damien himself said......there was still so much too explore in his character....
I would have loved to see Flight stay at Leman Street and have to work even harder to prove himself and gain Reid's trust. It would show everyone that he is not weak - he had to be strong to pick himself up and carry on after all the struggles he's gone through.
Possibly gathered by now I'm new to here. Huge fan of Being Human and Suspects but, embarrassed to say, not feeling it for Ripper Street yet. Its not my usual taste for a programme, but I gather Flight is a interesting character. I have series 1 and 2 boxset, and started with series 2 (for obvious reasons), so far up to episode 3 of the series.... Do we find out more about character further on? I'm naturally a wuss, and guess the 'darkness' is affecting enjoyment.... Am I the only one who didn't take to it straight away, not giving up yet, but keep returning to Hal....

Keep watching Kallie. Episode 4 is a really good one for finding out more about Flight! I won't say anymore as i don't want to spoil it for you!
I adore Ripper Street anyway and for me series 2 was where I first saw Damien so it will always hold a special place in my heart. And I love Flight! But I understand that he's not everyone's cup of tea and Hal is pretty tough competition.
I hope you enjoyed episode 4 Kallie. I'd love to know what you think of Flight after this episode as for me this was the one that started my Damien fandom.
