RE: RIPPER STREET SERIES 2 FILMING & AIR DATES
Permalink

The post production on Ripper Street is different and it already started before filming ended...many of the actors doing ADR a couple of weeks ago. including Damo! But...there are quite a few VFX in Ripper Street (posted that video in the other topic) which must surely be time intensive on top! So..... we just don't know!

The US got a December 1st airdate. We will see it before them.

I'm half expecting any publicity/teasers to begin sometime in September, a clip with a 'coming soon' tag perhaps? We've still got five or six weeks before October begins and we don't know when in October it'll be yet. Perhaps they'll still be doing their editing magic with the other episodes as episode one airs, there are eight in total :)

Recall when we all threw a collective hissy fit with the last Ripper Street series 1 promos...? because it was responsible for (we figured) the schedule shift for Being Human series 5. It took me quite a while to get around to watching RP because of that! oh the irony!

I've been thinking about possible transmission dates for S2.

Traditionally it airs on a Sunday night (or at least S1 did).

What Remains is currently airing, it has four episodes and the last episode will air September 15th. After that i think the new series of Inspector George Gently is expected to air (another traditionally Sunday night drama) and again that is four episodes long. So that would be: Sept 22-October 13th inclusive. So perhaps episode one could technically air October 20th???

Just supposition though :)

The first Ripper Street series 1 trailers appeared on BBC America at the same time as BBC in the uk last year, if I recall correctly, so that is a joy we can all share together, fingers crossed!

He is still keeping us guessing! No pictures of the man himself I notice. Or perhaps it is the BBC who are keeping him under wraps.

I should imagine the latter Pearl, there are embargo dates for sharing information for the press even, but fingers crossed Damien has some wonderful pics he can share when Ripper Street airs, as he did with BH!

IT’S A WRAP FOR DAMIEN MOLONY ON RIPPER STREET 2

Filming Completes on Ripper Street

ripperstreetDETFlight

We recently reported Damien Molony has joined the cast of BAFTA nominated Victorian drama Ripper Street as new member of H Division constabulary Detective Albert Flight. He has been filming for the second series in Dublin since May, kindly sharing some on-set nuggets along the way on his Twitter page – like the above photo of his trailer door and the cryptic and ever-so-slightly creepy prop photo below.

ripperstreet23_zps84d73057.jpg

Damien wrapped on Ripper Street today (or should we say ‘Rapped’?) with this wonderful photo of H Division on his final day of filming.

We eagerly anticipate seeing these shots in their filmed context in the London streets of the 1890s, with Damien’s return to TV screens in the upcoming series.

The Ripper Street 2 Premiere is likely for October in the UK and confirmed for December 1st on BBC America.

The really rather awesome Mr Jerome Flynn (Ripper Street's Bennett Drake) has written about Ripper Street 2 and possible transmission date on his FB page:

"As for the show, well it feels like we have something that's more settled in its skin playing to the strength of the wonderful characters we have on board, and I would say more exciting than the first. They are talking of an earlier transmission date, possibly October, so it shouldn't be long before you can judge for yourself."

Squeeee, I just saw this and shared on Twitter.  So if the actors are being told possibly October... and that one magazine said October... I just wish BBC would hurry up and confirm and promote.  Seems odd they are taking so long since BBCA already confirmed their airdate.

yay what a lovely post from Jerome Flynn, and great to read again that the airdate is possibly October.

It is a bit frustrating not knowing, but I would imagine that the BBC don't exactly know yet either whimsy, there must still be an awful lot of post production to do, filming only finished recently, and then the VFX.  Perhaps they have a rough idea but scheduling isn't decided.

BBC America have a whole different publicity style, I've noticed they release info far earlier, whereas BBC One tend to focus on the time really close to airing. I guess knowing the exact air date doesn't make it come any quicker!

However, we have had a preliminary trailer, so fingers crossed for another one soon!

AS an aside, the teasers for Being Human S5 as part of a BBC 3 Drama showcase were 4/12/12 and the first proper launch trailer for the series was 24/1/13 - a whole 51 days!

So, if that is a pattern to go by, we had the Ripper Street teasers in the Original British Drama trailer on 1/9/13, it could be way into October before the trailer proper! (22 Oct to be precise), However, they are 2 different shows on 2 different channels and BBC One already mentioned a follow up teaser to the first, including more female characters.

Christmas Day is a Wednesday this year - sad that I knew that off the top of my head! So the last episode could be Dec 22nd which, counting back 8 weeks, gives a start date of November 3rd. So maybe it will be a Nov TX rather than October...

OK - so I'm going to go along Nov 3rd.  The BBC love that whole victorian chrismas thing!......so I can well imagine that they would broadcast the last episode on the sun before christmas - the By Any Means dates just tie that up nicely.  But I won't be disappointed if it airs sooner......

And I agree, ruby - it's perfect for the Sun 9pm slot.....I don't think that will change.

Either way - eeek!!!  Not long before Damien's back on tv!!!

So, it has been announced that uk drama 'By Any Means' premieres 22 September for a 6 week run, which goes up against Downton Abbey. This is good news for Ripper Street!

So 27th October is now the earliest start date then...

I'm sure someone said it was 8 episodes, so that would bring us nicely to the 15th December for the last episode - would make sense.

By Any Means will be
Ep 1 - 22 Sept
Ep 2 - 29 Sept
Ep 3 - 6 Oct
Ep 4 - 13 Oct
Ep 5 - 20 Oct
Ep 6 - 27 Oct

so..if Ripper Street is to follow format for first series and air on Sunday night at 9pm, then earliest air date is 3 November.
