If they're doing screenings now, especially a press screening, then one has to assume it's going to be the next month or so; otherwise why bother? The press will want to talk about it as soon as they've seen it, so putting a further long embargo on information would seem bizarre.
Just got my fingers, toes and other things crossed for sooner rather than later.
Ooooooo, inspiration for Flight Homages - maybe we should all get a bowler hat (Toys R Us must sell them or something) and take comedy pictures of us wearing them ready for the first episode???!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Ripper Street Ripper Street Ripper Street Ripper Street Ripper Street Ripper Street Ripper Street Ripper Street Ripper Street Ripper Street Ripper Street Ripper Street!!!!!! *runs round the forum in a frenzy*
We may have the same issue with not wanting to appear in photos Kat but I love the intention!
*grabs Halgal's hands twirling us around* I KNOW!! Detective Albert Flight...we are so going to meet you soon!
We do not know yet if Damien will be in every episode HalGal, fingers crossed as many as possible, depending on when his character is introduced We did talk a while back about him possibly not being in the first ep but his tweet doesn't give anything away does it...so I guess we will have to wait and see!
OMFG!!!!!! Did he really just say that?
It can't be long now then, this month? Will he be in every episode do we know? So excited!!!*runs round the forum with domino* xxx

Domino thanks for this! I don't ever mind spoilers so was very excited to listen. Very difficult to hear them at times and I even used my headphones. Sad there was no mention of Det. Flight. A few little gems about what's coming up.
Spoiler
Bella Drake. Squee, that's what I suspected! So Rose is going to be a waitress, I thought she would actually be a singer since Charlene Mackenna said she had to sing. Probably a fill-in at some point?

Well here is a teeny tease/possible clue in the Ripper Street airdate/schedule saga from an Express article this morning:
"The producers of gory BBC drama Ripper Street are plotting to take over, even if it means a head-to-head Sunday night battle.
The second series of Ripper Street, starring Matthew Macfadyen and Jerome Flynn, will now start at the end of this month and could be pitched against Downton, family seat of the Earl of Grantham, which started its fourth series at the end of last month, One top ITV source dismissed the threat though, joking: “What are they going to call it, Downton Stabby? If they do put it up against Downton, it would be suicide.”
A BBC spokesman last night refused to reveal which night Ripper Street will be scheduled on but ruled out going head-to-head with Downton on Sunday nights."
So, sounds like not Sunday (or possibly just not at the exact time as Downtown Abbey). And starting end of this month. Hmmm....

Morning! Just woke up to this in google alerts, thanks for posting whimsy.
It doesn't really tell us any more than we already suspected, and it's I tabloid, so best to take it all with a pinch of salt!
We had ruled out a later slot on Sunday as Kat pointed out it is the news at 10 pm, and mooted another night. But, how many eps left for Downton? If it is 8 episodes, maybe 5 left? So that would rule out our 3. Nov ripper street possibility - the first available Sunday slot after By Any Means. I doubt Saturday too somehow. I wonder if actually if it would be worse for downtown if they went head to head... isn't it more likely people will watch RS live and downtown on plus 1, rather than downtown live and ripper street on bbc iplayer, so that they can just switch over their tv?
Am I the only one who read 'costliest' as 'coolest' by the way?
Glad you enjoyed the Q and A audio, lots of very interesting tidbits in there, not just plot and character related but locations and the process, very informative.
The Express article - which I am loath to even call an article - is about as pointless as it can get.
The reporter has heard a tidbit from someone and completely hashed something out; awful...
However, the one quote could be right, maybe they aren't going to have it on Sundays? But when though? If we're hoping for an October TX, there aren't many places for it...a lot of new series have started in the past week or so.
In the mean time, here is another article on Ripper Street 2, which reveals plot elements of one of the episodes (no mention of Damien) so it contains spoilers, even the title is spoilerific, so I shall make use of the spoiler tags!
Thanks for posting the Q & A, domino - very interesting...
But the express article means nothing - 'A BBC spokesman"?.....and theres no direct quote - and even if there was I would still be dubious. The BBC is very good at spin..."ruled out going head-to-head" could be interpreted that they don't want to appear to be trying to compete directly with Downton. With all of the online viewing options available for tv, then there is almost no concept of programmes going "head to head" anymore anyway. I just cannot see it being aired on any night other than a Sun.
So I'll stick with my Nov 3rd - and I'm expecting a 'coming soon' trailer about now.....
You are very welcome fifi, and agree with your reasoning. The only thing that makes me hesitate on the Nov 3rd date (that we have mooted for some time since finding out about 'By Any Means' air dates) is that everyone is still saying 'later this month'. But, as we discovered with BH5, this could mean anything and things can change right up to the last moment.
just noticed Damien's imdb page has been updated to include Ripper Street, but let's remember that this site is not gospel and can be updated by anyone!
I didn't realise that anyone could update imdb; always assumed you had to have a "pro" account and prove you knew the person somehow...
But potential yayness that it's getting closer because someone's bothered to post, but potential booo to not being in the first episode! (did someone vaguely mention that previously, or is that me being mad?)
Wait a sec, he better be in the first episode or I will explode! Lol. Now I'm hoping I'm interpreting things right, Laura tweeted Damien last week after he said episode 1 is f*cking brilliant that couple friends of hers saw it and were now instanstant fans of his and Flight. Plus you know that very first photo of him as Flight, the actor who's FB page it came from is only in episode 1 as far as I can tell.
starts chanting "we need Flight. We need Flight!"
So many sources saying end of this month and press premier (is that what they call it) - gotta be soon!

OMG fifi how did I mix that up in my head?! Wishful thinking. Denial. I think I'll go off to cry in a corner now.

Keeping everything crossed we hear something this week...surely will be the case after the screenings last week?
I am still bearing in mind that Imdb is not official, but I guess Damien's character may not be introduced immediately until the serias is caught up with the other characters?
In other news but kind of related The first episode (of 8) of BBC One period drama 'The Paradise' has just popped up as an unplaced programme on the BBC media site, for the week 19-25 October. Series 1 aired on a weekday evening, but am wondering if 2 period dramas would run in the same time period?
Kat - I think it has been mentioned here before that Damien might not be in ep1. The guy impaled on the railings (Steven Hartley) tweeted some time ago that he is in ep 1......they are the only filming pics I think I've seen (apart from the cgi ones), and Damien isn't in any of them (although he could just be hiding!)
But if he's not in it until ep2, that could suggest that he's a character worthy of proper introduction - as you said, domino, after the series has caught up with the other characters - rather that just being slipped in unobtrusively in the first ep.....
So, yes - I'm sticking with Nov 3...but just to chuck a little spanner in the works...I found an article dated Sept 23 2012 which was obviously written after the press preview for s1 - so earlier that this year - it still didn't air until after Christmas!
Yes, it makes sense about episode 2, our first look at Damien in costume was with Glenn Spears who is also in episode 2. I think Detective Flight will have a proper introduction - and very excited about how that will be done - because he is a new cast member not a guest appearance.
No..it cannot air after Christmas fifi, that would mean later than BBC America, though I have to say the 'The Paradise' scheduling has got me in a bit of a spin now!
I haven't checked, but I don't think The Paradise, or Call the Midwife aired until after christmas last year? (or this year...) The Beeb really does seem to be packing them in!
1. BBC America date confirmed as 1 Dec, highly unlikely UK date would be later 2. By Any Means has the Sunday 9pm slot til 3 Nov 3. The Paradise will be in the 8pm Sunday slot up to and including 8th December 4. The Paradise and Ripper Street (although very different in tone and subject) are both period dramas 5. The cast and press screenings were last week suggesting sooner rather than later for Ripper Street
conclusions: it seems unlikely to me that there would be 2 period dramas back to back on same night, Therefore, Ripper Street will be on a different night, and before 1 December! ( all speculations )
It may be, at the earliest, the penultimate week of October but nothing is listed for next week and it hasn't been mentioned in the 'coming next week' for the week after in my tv guide. So maybe, last weekend in October, that's if it's sticking with it's original Sunday night transmission. November 3rd is the most reasonable airdate but to be pedantic that's not 'late October', that's early November!. I'm also hoping BBC1 will debut a trailer soon, one aired for The Paradise last night (don't watch it) so i'm hoping it won't be long.
Rumour has it, Inspector George Gently's new series may not now air til January (used to air late August/September time) , so BBC One are having a tinker around with their schedules at the moment- and they do have a lot to air over the next few months.
