I'm excited all over again!  I think I'm going to watch/record it from BBCA even though I boycott them for hacking apart being human. Can't hurt to how them good viewing figures.

Very excited for you guys and all our american friends!

The third epsiode just aired in Canada as well, it would be great to hear from Canadian fans! episode 4, which Canada will see Saturady night on SPACE channel, is Damiens big episode.

It is good to see BBCAmerica putting out new promo material. For those who haven't seen it yet, there is a wonderful video interview with Damien here

I don't remember if I shared this info here before but I had inquired and received a reply from the composer of the Ripper Street music, Dominik Scherrer, that there are still plans to release a RS soundtrack.  He said legal issues were being worked out.  

I for one can't wait.  Every single time I watched an episode, when the opening credits came on, without fail I would turn to the hubby and say "I want this music". I think I tweeted it to the RS account each time too! smile

Wonderful news whimsy, no i dont think we have that info here! Agree about the soundtrack it is very distinctive and evocative too.

I posted a new interview Damien did for the Metro in the Suspects news topic, but there is a Ripper Street tidbit in the interview I thought appropriate to post here as well:

Were you surprised that Ripper Street was axed? The decision caused a lot of anger among fans. Yes I was, from a selfish point of view, because I had such fun doing it, filming over a summer in Dublin. And the last series ended in such a gripping way, the boxing scene with Matthew Macfadyen’s character screaming: ‘Kill him!’ It was really powerful. I think there were a lot of possibilities still open to the characters, including my own.

I wholeheartedly agree with everything he said.  I wonder what's going on with it, after those tweets that sounded positive got smacked down.  Still crossing fingers.  Sounds like he'd be up for continuing with his character.

Well deserved!  And yes.....fingers crossed for Jerome Flynn.

It's kinda hard to believe that it's almost a year ago that Glenn Spears' post appeared on twitter... I guess filming will start for s3 very soon.  Oh how I wish we knew if Damien was going to be involved!!!  From that metro interview which whimsy posted it seems as though he thought he would be - and I find it hard to imagine that they could create the character of Flight and then just move the story-line along without him.  Or am I just clutching at straws...?  If he is then hopefully we'll get some hint soon....

Am I the only one whose getting impatient for some Ripper Street news?!  They were supposedly starting filming for s3 in May and....well - it's May!  This time last year we'd already seen a pic of Damien on set in costume and now we don't even know if he's going to be in it.  The suspense is killing me!!

I tried asking the Ripper Street writers but the are not forthcoming. Everything is hush hush apparently. I'm getting really antsy about it. Maybe pulling the "fanpower helped make S3 happen" card on the RS Twitter & FB account will get them to at least tell us something?

That is a great idea Whimsy! definitely no harm in asking!

Funny you should mention it fifi but I did make official enquiries last week and the response was that casting announcements will be made closer to filming. Unfortunately, there is not a lot else we can do but wait!

In the meantime I am trying to keep a totally open mind about the return of Flight. Obviously it would be thrilling to see him return and there is so much more of his story to be told and many exciting places it could go.. and to Damien back in such a top notch one of a kind drama as Ripper Street would be wonderful.

On the flipside, if for some reason Flight doesn't return, or Damien is too busy with other projects, it does open him up for the next big thing. Ripper Street already has it's three male leads..... and I do see Damien as leading man material, something he cannot be in Ripper Street.

I'd love to see Flight in the new series of Ripper Street - I think the character is deep and complex and there is still more to know about him. What happens directly after the end of series 2 would have a lot of consequences for the other characters so there is lots of scope for story, for example, if Reid helps Flight it would have repercussions for his career and for his relationship with Abberline which we would then see 4 years on.

If Flight doesn't return then at least we need to know what happens to him after we last saw him. If the story isn't finished off it would be really frustrating.

Perhaps nothing can be said because it would ruin a major plot point, Flight might suddenly turn up somewhere unexpected and save the day!

Damian Barcroft tweeted about it not being long for RS this morning, so sounds like filming will start very soon...I suppose they've had to move some of the set to London, so that would've taken some time.

Now we just need the Flight confirmation!!
