Hi Lisa, you mean Ripper Street or The Paradise? Ripper Street cannot air October at all in the same slot because of By Any Means! as we've been saying for while, if same slot, earliest possible date is Nov 3rd. The Paradise is listed on BBC Media site as between Sat 19 Oct - Fir 25 Oct. The Paradise trailer has been out for a while now, so frustrating re RS!
OOOHH.... thank you Laura. The plot thickens! The Paradise is an 8 part series, this will take it way into December on the Sunday night.....would they have Ripper in the 9pm slot right after it? I'd be surprised!
I know. I was sure if Ripper Street was going to start in October, it would be at it's usual time of Sunday at 9.00, so after By Whatever Means Finished.. which would mean a start date of Nov 3rd. Now.... I'm not sure. Unless they are planning on having 2 late 19th Century dramas back to back.
But I thought Last Tango In Halifax was going to be in that slot. So now I am confused.

If it is to finish by Christmas, it needs to TX on or before 4th Nov.
Thursdays are out then because Truckers won't finish til 7th Nov. Fridays are out because of HIGNFY which is on an 11-week run. Wednesdays are possible after the end of the month, but tends to be Factual based programmes, which leaves us with Mondays and Tuesdays...
I was so convinced it would be Nov 3....I was so convinced that they wouldn't change it from Sunday nights.....and now my brain is melting. I don't tend to watch much real time tv....but Ripper St airing on a weekday eve just seems wrong. I tend to agree, though, that it's unlikely that they'll put it on after The Paradise.
I would much rather it be a Sunday night, series one performed seriously well with a Sunday night audience, would it do just as well second series on another night? Are the BBC1 people really that confident?

Damien is now listed on all the episodes (but the first) of Ripper Street S2 on IMDB.
As Detective Constable Albert Flight. And curiously no one is listed for Episode 1 at all yet, so I can still hold out the hope he will make an appearance there.

The BBC programme info page now goes up to Nov 1, and RS still isn't listed - even as an unplaced programme - so it seems unlikely to be Oct now....doesn't it? So I've got my fingers firmly crossed that next week it will turn up on Nov 3. Which means we really should be getting that 'coming soon' trailer.....soon!
Ep 2 of The Paradise is listed for Sun 27th though....I had wondered if it might move to a mid-week slot after the first ep (sounds odd, but it has happened to series before). Found myself speculating on the RS/Downton thing....again! I haven't actually seen Downton Abbey, but I suspect that it's audience is probably more similar to The Paradise than RS.....maybe the BBC think that peeps might watch The Paradise, then stay tuned to BBC1 and watch RS, rather than turn over for Downton (I know that they have apparently denied the possibility of going 'head to head', but I'm still sceptical that means anything)

I have been keeping my eye on the BBC Media page too fifi and was thinking along similar lines. Interesting you should mention that The Paradise could be moved, I know it was midweek for series 1 but didn't realise it began on the Sunday.
Downton 8/8 airs 10 November - so after that date there would be no schedule clash on the Sunday (if my calculations are correct!)
Domino - I didn't mean that The Paradise had moved days before...just that the BBC have done that with other series before, so I'd thought it was a possibility.
Thanks for the airdates guide! I've spent a long time looking at it.......not sure I'm any the wiser.....!
I've been trying to figure out whether there was another prog that was more likely to take over the By Any Means slot.....and, to be honest, if it's definately going to air before christmas, RS does seem to be the most likely contender to me - especially if The Escape Artist has already started before then. But I think that I'm just getting myself more and more confused/frustrated - so maybe i just need to excersise some patience, and be content with the knowledge that it won't be long......
my head hurts. I'll just let you all figure it out and keep bugging BBCOne for a date!

I think all our heads hurt. I suspect we are over-analysing it all, but that's only because we want to know when the darn show is going to start! Aaarrrrrgggghhhhh!
Haha! it seems my plan to try and timetable things has confuddled us all more! But some conclusions can be made... possible dates, if to remain in Sunday 9pm slot, are:
- 3 Nov (BUT would it go after another period drama AND up against Downton) - 17 Nov (after Downton has finished)
Like you fifi, I do wonder what other drama will take the Sunday 9pm slot...apart from The Escape Artist which will premiere before then what other dramas to BBC One have on their slate? A Copper's Tale, Quirke, Ghe Muskateers, The Great Train Robbery, Inspector George Gently, Last Tango in Halifax......
Yeah! It's good to get some sort of recognition of Ripper St's imminency from the BBC at last. I noticed that they've put ep one on the RS web page too...... can't be long now.......can it?
