I’ve been a busy whimsy and before you go to bed to dream sweet Hal dreams I want to announce this fundraiser I have set up, with tangential help from Mr. Damien Molony himself, in honour of the great Toby Whithouse.  Go HERE to become a History Maker - donate to Lord Toby’s chosen charity, leave him lots of lovely messages and you’ll be entered to win your very own SHOW NO MERCY quilt that Damien has personalized.  AND if we reach our target of £2,000, Lord Toby will be giving away a signed and personalized copy of the script to S4E7: Making History!!!!!

and for whatever reason, my message went through as anonymous, i'm almost certain i included my name! It's just been one problem after another with my donation...grrr... but that's by the by...

 

Edited to add: Thanks to Whimsy and Manc, i found out that i could actually edit my message so my name is now up there for all to see. Much happier now. :) cool

What a beautiful, genius idea.. a wonderful way for fans to thank Lord Toby for Being Human and Amnesty uk do really important work. these are 2 unbelievably mind blowing prizes - that is one Hal of an exclusive signature from Damien and on one of your incredible quilts! and signed script of Making History! I have tried to add a donation but right at the final stage, where i'm waiting for my donation to be verified by my bank, the page keeps timing out. I don't know whether that's a problem with the site or my laptop, i don't know... it's very disappointing, i had to exit the page before final confirmation.

I tried to donate via my phone instead and IT WORKED!! so i'm assuming it's an issue with my idiot laptop as the final verification page kept timing out on me.

Being Human may have come to an end, but the ‘Show No Mercy’ poster from Series 4 episode 7 ‘Making History’ – depicting the Hal of a dystopian future as written by show creator Toby Whithouse – is perhaps one of it’s most powerful and enduring symbols. Once revealed, the threat of Hal’s worst possible potential was literally left hanging in the background of our awareness for the rest of the life of the show…and beyond!

 

During the filming of the episode, Damien, who brought Hal to life on screen, showed his appreciation of the original artwork…

…and was delighted when American fan Iris Fox (aka @whimsyfox) created an incredible quilt version of the poster for him earlier this year.

whimsyfox’s masterpiece has since been admired by fans and Being Human creators alike, inspiring her to make another for a fundraiser in honour of Toby Whithouse and his chosen charity Amnesty International UK.

Now YOU have a chance to win your very own ‘Show No Mercy’ quilt, exclusively signed by Damien himself!

 

Yes, the uniquely signed quilt above could be yours! If this wasn’t amazing enough, the Being Human S4 Ep7 ‘Making History’ script, personalised and signed by Toby Whithouse, could also be up for grabs if the £2,000 fundraising target is reached. (incidentally, Toby told us on twitter this is his own favourite episode of Being Human).

 

So, become a History Maker, support the fundraiser, show how much Being Human means to you for a chance of winning one of these unique prizes.
To be entered into the prize draw all you need to do is donate and all proceeds go to Amnesty International UK Charitable Trust.

The closing date is 7th September with winners announced on the 8th.

Whimsy - what a wonderful thing to do!  

I can only repeat what I said in the fanart topic......having seen (and touched) the original - pictures really don't do it justice.  It is really beautiful, and tactile and, like Ruby, I covet this very much.  And, of course, entirely unique!!  I have this picture as the desktop on my tablet - and a sticker on the back of my phone.....feels kinda like I need one to hang over my bed!!

And as I am a member of Amnesty International I totally applaud Lord Toby's choice of charity!  I really need to wait until I get paid before I can donate....but I most certainly will!

I know the signature on that message is hard to decipher, but I'm pretty certain that it starts with a D, not an H......!
