~Ripper Street announces news stars for series 2 | What's on TV - 31 July "One of the new cast members joining Reid, Drake and Jackson (played by Matthew MacFayden, Jerome Flynn and Adam Rothenberg respectively) is Being Human's Damien Molony, who joins H Division as new detective constable Albert Flight"
"Damien Molony, best known for playing vampire Hal in Being Human, has signed up to play new H Division constable Albert Flight, joining forces to fight crime with Jackson as well as Matthew MacFadyen and Jerome Flynn's characters Reid and Drake."
"Joining series regulars Matthew MacFadyen, Jerome Flynn and Adam Rothenberg this season is Irish actor Damien Molony (‘Being Human’) as Detective Constable Albert Flight"
"Tiger Aspect, who produced the show said: “Catching up with the lives and crime-solving of the three heroes of Whitechapel’s H Division: Reid (Matthew Macfadyen), Drake (Jerome Flynn) and Jackson (Adam Rothenberg) is enticing enough, but what too of Long Susan (MyAnna Buring) and Rose (Charlene McKenna)?”
They added: “Excitingly, a raft of new faces will arrive on Ripper Street, amongst them a new young cop named Flight, Damien Molony (Being Human) and Inspector Jedediah Shine, Joseph Mawle (Game of Thrones).”"
"Ripper Street is roaring back into action with season two. Seriously, from the looks of the trailer there will be no time wasted before the violence, sex and complex work of keeping Whitechapel’s streets safe is put into high gear.
Set to a fast-paced rap song, the trailer reveals that Inspector Reid (Matthew Macfadyen) is more committed than ever to his job, his personal live is a mess, Whitechapel is still in chaos and Being Human‘s Damien Molony has joined the cast. In fact, Molony’s brief appearance is the most intriguing part, as he’s clearly carrying around his own secrets."
Yes, yes I have to agree, he is the most intriguing part. I really hope he gets plenty of screen time and that if/when S3 is produced, his character continues and becomes even more pivotal.

oh, love the mention of Damien in that one whimsy, thanks for adding!
It was a little concerning when Damien was not being mentioned at the beginning of the publicity rolling out..all of a sudden, he is getting a lot more media attention. SO excited for his Ripper Street debut!
I suppose, with a returning series, the press focus on the main characters to draw people back in then, BAM, here's a gorgeous young newbie with secrets and bruises and stuff and won't it be really exciting to keep watching...? *breathes*
Agreed Kat, especially as he's not in episode one, the focus will be on the lead cast members but as reviewers look further into the show, Hello! who's this talented guy!?

Absolutely agree with you all.... I anticipate the kindling of a mass appreciation of Damien's talent when Flight arrives at H Division...which will grow and grow. He is a huge asset to the drama, on top of an already highly esteemed cast.
I am delighted at the buzz so far for Damien's arrival on Ripper Street, post Hal we did lose a few from the active fandom I feel, and the fandom, understandably, is still in mourning, but hopefully, as I have always said, they will remember the talent behind him and that talent in a new television role in such a quality drama is a very exciting prospect indeed.
What we have seen so far.... I find it absolutely thrilling!
fifi I thought the same thing! Maybe he starts off as Constable and finally after proving himself to Reid becomes Sargeant?
These are great domino. I love how Mathew Macfadyen says "I might have chipped a nail." after Jerome Flynn mentions his hurt back.
One other thing that struck me is Jerome saying S2 feels lighter. I'm hoping that gives them more character based interactions that perhaps aren't all about the crimes themselves? More banter, perhaps talking about their personal lives. (not in the least because I want Flight to talk all about himself and his secrets...)

You are both very welcome, truly exciting to see Damien's new character in the media..both emphasise the issue of gaining Reid's trust and that he is a man of secrets! I so hope the press does not leak what those secret are until we discover them for ourselves by watching him in action!
Q&A with MyAnna Buring, Matthew MacFadyen, Jerome Flynn and Adam Rothenberg (interesting question about Damien's arrival on Ripper Street) (slightly spoilerish warning)
"the Being Human star makes his debut in episode two as Detective Constable Albert Flight, a cocky new copper in H Division who thinks he knows better than Matthew MacFadyen's Inspector Reid how to clean up London's streets!"
"How does he feel about the new young policeman arriving? Matthew Macfadyen: Initially he reacts against him because he doesn't want a repeat of what happened to Hobbs so he tries cruel to be kind. He'd rather have a grizzled veteran."
Domino, I just wanted to thank you for your attention to the Ripper Street press and media. You are doing an amazing job of keeping up with Damien's career, for all of our sakes.

There are many new media coming out about Ripper Street now, anything mentioning Damien I will continue to add here, hoping for more as the series progresses and when Damien joins the cast in episode 2!
