So The Body Of An American completed its extended run at the Gate last night, it has been an amazing success, I've heard and read nothing but incredibly glowing feedback from audiences and critics alike. Congratulations to Damien, Dan OBrien, James Dacre and the whole creative team.
Everyone involved must be kinda exhausted though so let's hope Damien and all have a good break and a chance to recharge their batteries before moving to the Royal & Derngate on 27th!
Love that picture UJ! How wonderful that you finally got to meet the man himself.
Bet damien will be relieved to take some time off! Can't wait till it starts at the royal and derngate and i get to go again! Feels like forever ago!
Glowing reviews is right domino, well deserved and they have clearly put lots and lots of effort and energy into this, it must be nice to get something positive back :) xx

Sooner or later, we all go back to being the monsters we truly are!
Went to see the show today and it was amazing! Definitely gets 5 stars from me. First time seeing Damien and wow. Made so much eye contact with him during the show and got a big smile from him after his bow! Hehe. Was a bit gutted afterwards because I couldn't wait around that much as I had to be back for a certain time. Waited for a while before I had to leave. But as I was walking away from the theatre guess who I noticed was walking towards me! Thought I was seeing things as first but as we got closer to each other I couldn't believe it! I finally got to meet DaMo. As soon as he asked my name for the autograph he knew who I was as he'd remembered from the letter I sent not long back which was lovely. So we talked about that for a while as well as other things from football to how the show was going and how he loved seeing people smiling in the audience. Didn't want to go but knew I had to. It was just so amazing to bump into him as I was leaving, and be able to spend a fair bit of time with him, still wonder why nobody else at all was around though! Made sure I grabbed a quick photo (which I'll upload tomorrow) and a hug before I had to go.
But yeah overall it was such a good day! Still can't believe any of it and wish I could do it all over again!!

Yay! chuffed for you I AmArmony, you will for a while to come!
Did you see the matinee performance? several other forumers were at the evening performance just now and are posting their pics of meeting Damien on twitter as we speak. Hope to hear from them soon too!
Thank you for sharing, look forward to seeing your photo
Yeah I saw the matinee :) might as well of stayed and snuck into the evening performance as well considering on the way out of Northampton it was gridlocked and we literally only moved 3 miles in 2 hours!! It was still worth it though!

This seems to be a play that is worth having second viewing of IamArmory, not just because it is a bit good but becuase it is so intense and more can be piked up the next time around, so I gather.
The play sounds very intimate too with the actors literally inches away! i would love to hear more about that, if you felt given to share
Also looking forward to hearing about it from all the forumers who went last night!
FANTASTIC reviews coming in for The Body Of An American at the Royal & Derngate, there is a topic filled with them all here, if you all felt given to read and comment!
I think that being in such an enclosed space and being within touching distance of them definitely creates such more of an effect on the play and it wouldn't be the same if it was on a normal stage. It makes it so much more intimate, I don't really know how to explain it. It's just like you're actually there, going through everything that they're going through. Being so close to them that you can see every drop of sweat, spit and every tear creates such an impact on the audience, and when they look at you while saying certain lines it's just like they're in actual conversation with you personally.
The show definitely gets 5 stars from me and I'd recommend it to anyone. Would love to go again, and yeah like you said Domino, I really think that more would be picked up a second time around. I had a look at going again later in the week, but the only problems are finding trains, enough money and someone to go with, but I'm so determined to go again!
I've tried attaching some photos, whether it'll work or not is a different thing though because I'm rubbish as things like this, no matter how easy they are! Got two photos with him, bit gutted that we both look better in different ones but ahh well, and I don't have a clue what on earth I'm doing in one of them!
