10 extremely talented TV Actors who don't get the credit they deserve - whatculture say nice things about Damien Molony

Just stumbled across this feature from whatculture - always heartening to read of Damien's talent recognised.

What do we think of Damien  being called a "TV actor"?

1. Damien Molony

Damien Molony

In terms of industry cred, Damien Molony is still a rookie. In fact, before his performance in Being Human, he hadn’t clocked in any time on a major production — the only other credits on his resume were a couple of video shorts and a National Theatre Live performance. So it’s majorly impressive that his fantastic portrayal of Hal is essentially his debut. It isn’t easy to come into a popular show and replace its beloved characters. Many men before him have tried and failed. But he brings such depth to the purposefully repressed character of Hal (and his malevolent alter ego), that it’s almost impossible not to be drawn to him. Sure, he isn’t Mitchell — but that doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing.

Since then, he’s gone on to appear on Ripper Street (which tragically got the axe this year, why God why?), and will be starring in a new cop drama on Channel 5. While to my cynical eyes, it seems like it will be a pretty by-the-books procedural, I’m confident that Molony has what it takes to elevate the material into something special. And star as the 13th Doctor in about four years. No, but seriously, that needs to happen.

My all time fave Hal line (just love the way he says it)

"We've been played! My God! We've been played!"

"Annie's getting hysterical downstairs and I'm not enjoying it"

"kill me. Kill me now. You can tell Annie that I attacked you or something"

"“Were you guys talking about me? I heard ‘clearly gorgeous’”

"Yes because otherwise you are quite the catch"

Can't argue with any of that - and so nice to see him at number 1!  And I especially like the ".....I’m confident that Molony has what it takes to elevate the material into something special" part.

I think it's fair enough to call him a TV actor, especially in the context of the whole article.....he is not (yet) a film actor and tv is basically where people know him from....

I have only heard of Damien and Mark Gatiss! But I definitely agree about Damien being at No.1. I also agree with Fifi about him being known as a TV actor.

I agree that Damien has the talent to elevate any material - he is a gift to any production for sure.

I think it's fair to call him a TV actor as he's more known for that than being on the stage. Great to see him in this article, even better to put him at number 1. Another good little bit of publicity that raises his profile a little bit more.

Yes! calling Damien a'TV actor' is a bit like a gold stamp saying he has arrived in the TV world! Being Human was an amazing first show to be in and it feels like Ripper Street has solidified that. But he is not destined to be an exclusively TV actor and he has also made a name for himself in the world of theatre and radio and no doubt one day .. film!

Only right he is no.1 on the list! cool
