And now I'm really worried because I can't remember Ross!

yay! thanks for posting Whimsy, I'd not checked that page in a while, wonder who added it?! I guess we need to keep a slightly open mind until confirmed as wikipedia like imDb is publicly updatable - but Ross was second down on my list!
He is the Head of marketing and described in the book as "in his early thirties, tall with a businesslike crew cut."
I so want this to be true - mainly because I just want to know so badly! It's certainly possible....and somebody must know! But Joseph Mawle is down as Trellick and I was convinced that he would be Schneider......
It's hard to know for sure, but who would bother to edit this in wikipedia if they didn't know? I agree fifi that Joseph Mawle's character doesn't quite fit what I would have expected, but I'm wondering if they sorta "combined" Schnieder & Trellick?

I so hope it is true too - Ross has some great moments in the book - involving all the things the book is famous for, the satirical depiction of the music industry lifestyle, the drugs and booze etc... including a scene in the bath with Stelfox if I recall! although I think Ross is the one who Stelfox looks upon in a quizzical way as he is the only one with a girlfriend!
Damien's character was added to the wiki page 22 August, according to the edits history, and lots of edits were made by one person so let's hope it is official!

That's a distinct possibility, whimsy. There are so many characters in this book....it seems pretty likely that some of them will be 'combined'. I do agree that if somebody has bothered to edit it after all this time if it's not right - as I said....somebody has got to know!
It seems like an age ago that I read this book! I definately need to have another read....and re-aquaint myself with Ross.
Lol domino! "....generally offensive stuff!!" is a pretty neat review of the book!
Little mention of Kill Your Friends by Tom Riley during a Inside TV DW interview, 5 Sept.
It sounds Like the cast are doing ADR!
I believe you are also in a film adaptation of my favorite British novel of the past few years, the American Psycho-meets-Britpop Kill Your Friends.
RILEY: I am! Yeah. I got a text from one of the cast just this second saying that they’d come out of ADR and it’s fantastic.
What can you tell us about your character?
RILEY: I’m Parker-Hall. He’s kind of the nemesis of the hero [but] the villain of the piece is the hero. We kind of face off against each other. I haven’t seen it yet. Hopefully, it’s going to be brilliant. It certainly felt like it was going to be on set.
I thought ADR was additional dialogue recording......when the actors record in a studio any dialogue which didn't pick up properly or if there was other sound interference etc while they were filming.
I think when people say ADR, they mean 'Additional Dialogue Recording', but technically it appears to mean 'Automated' which seems a confusing term... Here is the wikipedia entry for a less than illuminating explanation! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubbing_(filmmaking)
I guess ultimately it is academic, we know it refers to a post production process where actors re-record / add some dialogue.
It must be very exciting for the actors too - maybe the first time they have seen footage of the film? It is also exciting knowing the film is at this stage! SO hope the film gets international distribution...despite being set in the UK and the late 90s, it seems like a film that captures a certain zeitgeist of worldly NOW.
At Last! Confirmation that Damien is playing Ross in 'Kill Your Friends', via his Spotlight page! (Quick everyone, go read / re-read the book for all the Ross mentions!)
Excellent! I sadly can't recall too much about Ross, but I only half listened to the book on my kindle while doing other things months ago. The kindle reader is a robotic voice that mispronounces/emphasizes things wrong all the time so it's all a blur now... But I'm sure Damien did a brilliant job.

It is excellent, Ross is as decent a role as any other of the main group surrounding Stelfox! I am really excited!
A risk of repeating myself, Ross has some of the most mega lines - if the screenplay is true to the book (John Niven wrote that too, so fingers crossed!) there may be a few shocked DaMo fans hearing the words coming out his mouth!
In case peeps missed it, I posted all the Ross excerpts from the book here (spoiler warning!)
I'm also excited to see Damien on screen with the rest of this epic cast! Nicholas Hoult, James Corden, Tom Riley, Craig Roberts, Joseph Mawle... If I recall correctly, there is a singing moment with Ross and Darren (played by Craig Roberts), I hope that goes in the film, it'll be like Hal and Adam together again (but not!) and Shine and Flight in the same room again, YES!
Does anyone recall, will this be out in spring-ish next year?
