Yes Whimsy, John Niven mentioned on twitter a March release for the film.
UJ, Altitude Film Sales screened the first promo to international distributors at this year's Cannes already. (Mentioned earlier in this topic, but appreciate there is a lot of info to trawl through.) The film is still in post production, but it is possible Altitude may try 'Kill Your Friends' at The American Film Market 5 - 12 November and The European Film Market 5 - 13 Feb 2015.
Only the promo reel was shown at Cannes - and the new poster (previously posted in this topic). The film already has UK distribution, with StudioCanal, so maybe they are no focussing on international sales? the BFI LFF doesn't seem to be sales based anyway, but it would be cool if the film had its first proper outing there. Not listed though. How about Sundance Film Fest? that's coming soon I think.
Just recently finished my second reading of this.....if anything I laughed even more than virst time round!
I noticed that Schneider had been added, but there's still no Hasings, or Leamington.......
Ross is pretty much there throughout the whole book.....not hugely prominent, but there - which is promising! The biggest part probably being in their trip to glastonbury which has all sorts of possibilities!
Back in April theexciting news arrivedthat Damien will be appearing in feature filmKill Your Friends, and now we are thrilled to reveal the character he will portray on the big screen.
Based on the cult novel written by John Niven (who also penned the screenplay), the movie is a dark comedy satirizing the music industry in the late 1990s, with an anti-hero protagonist, A & R agent Steven Stelfox. Damien will be appearing as Ross, described in the book as ‘Head of Marketing’ ‘in his early thirties’ and part of the team surrounding Stelfox (played by Nicholas Hoult), who accompany him “slashing and burning his way through the music business… Fuelled by greed, ambition and inhuman quantities of drugs..”
So, what do we know about Ross and what do we know about the film so far?
1. True to the book
Kill Your Friendsis a no-holds-barred, hilarious and dark debauch-fest, portraying Stelfox’s hedonistic inner and outer worlds, while he and his team conduct their drug-fuelled careers with varying success in a fickle, cut throat music industry. The book’s protagonist is unrelentingly shocking, offensive and increasingly psychotic, and rumour has it the movie adaptation isnotgoing to be toninganythingdown.
In a piece for theDaily Record, John Niven hinted at one particular scene:
It was also very pleasing, from a practical point of view, to sit in a production meeting and hear the words, “OK, so for that scene we’re going to need cocaine, a severed limb, a urine rig and lots of blood.”
and commented on the film’s release in cinemas:
I’ll be the one at the back, shouting “I am John Niven and I deeply apologise for all this filth.”
Tom Riley, who plays Stelfox’s nemesis Parker-Hall, confirmed on his Twitter page that the film has not been “toned down.”
2. Top Cast
Alongside Nicholas Hoult, the film has a top cast including Roseanna Arquette, Georgia King, James Corden, Tom Riley, Jim Piddock, Ella Smith and also two of Damien’s former co-stars, Craig Roberts (Being Human) who plays Darren and Joseph Mawle (Ripper Street) who plays Trellick. Both characters appear with Ross in some of the book’s funniest scenes.
3. DaMo on the Dance floor
In the book, some of Stelfox and his crews’ funniest (and most outrageous) moments come at clubs, music festivals and ‘conferences’ (code for depraved levels of partying) and we were delighted to learn from co-star Georgia King earlier in the year that Damien will be bringing the dance moves as Ross.
4. Britpop and sideburns In a departure from the book – where Ross is described as having a “businesslike crew cut” – Damien will be rocking a pair of majestic sideburns in the film, set at the height of the Britpop era. Here he is photographed at aWordTheatreevent shortly after filming.
5. Memorable moments, Indelible lines
Although he is not in every major scene, Ross has some unforgettable moments in the book (as well as the dancing, one involving a bathtub..) and if the movie is to be as faithful to its origins as suggested, Damien may well be delivering some of the most indelible lines. (No spoilers here, but reading the book is advised!)
So what can we conclude from all of the above?
~ Jaws will hit the floor with this film, and like the book (which has been compared toAmerican Psycho), it has the potential to become a cult smash.
~ Unless some serious editing occurs – which would compromise the eyepopping ride that Kill Your Friendsisin its very essence – the filmhasto receive an 18 (UK) NC-17 (US) classification.
~ Damien will be appearing on the big screen with some of our favourite former co-stars of his, as a character who has some significant moments in the book, some of them hilarious, some truly outrageous. He will be delivering some potentially scandalous lines, highly likely in a London accent, definitely with a Britpop hairstyle.
We eagerly anticipate seeing Damien on the big screen for the first time, when the film is released in March next year.
Kill Your Friends is directed by Owen Harris, produced by Gregor Cameron (UNIGRAM), Will Clarke (Altitude Film Entertainment) and Len Blavatnik (AI Film and Warner Music Group) and will be released in the UK by STUDIOCANAL March 2015, international release tba.

Wow Domino, this is better than anything I've read on this film thus far. Admittedly I am a bit biased... But thank you for taking the time to give such a comprehensive break down.
Jozie, unfortunately in the book the bathtub scene is fully clothed... The dance floor scene is the one I'm most looking forward to.
Big screen DaMo. Hopefully only a preview of more and more to come! I'm choosing to believe this will be an international release! Several actors in it are becoming well known here in the States.
I cannot wait!

Glad you enjoyed, fifi and whimsy Just needed to get that out of my system and put it all in one thing, and from the perspective of Damien's role, seeing as he hardly has a mention in any other news on the film!
It is clearly biased towards him, obviously, and a tiny bit of speculation on my part ,but if the film is as close to the book as we've been led to believe, all of that is true.
The March 2015 release date was given by John Niven on Twitter, but not strictly official and of course in the world of film, anything could happen. And that is just UK, it would be good to know how altitude are doing with international sales.
Jozie, have you read the book? I recommend it to you and anyone who wants to find out more about Ross, but if you prefer complete surprises maybe read it after !
I haven't read it yet, I was going to read it before seeing the film but then I thought that I might want to be surprised about everything that happens!
Well Whimsy, bathtub scene is a bathtub scene (Although I have to say I was waiting less clothes but still..)
You would definitely be surprised Jozie! so maybe... that is the way to go!
A bit of casting news, Dustin Demri-Burns (half of TV show Cardinal Buns) is playing the character Schneider, according to IMDB. He is very funny and this is brilliant casting!
In a recent interview with Nicholas Hoult he mentions Kill Your Friends as "a little indie film .." I am getting that it is an independent film but hope it is far bigger than a little film! Also with that cast, how can it fail to appeal to the mainstream?
Yay on the funny man, Boo on the little indie film...
I really hope it is widely distributed. I will be pissed if I don't get to see Damien on the big screen!
Nicholas Holt is well known here from movies, so is Tom Riley from Davinci's Demons. Of course Rosanna Arquette (though her role is small). James Corden is making waves as he will be the new host on the Late, Late Show. Craig Roberts's new show got green-lit on Amazon US. He'll soon be a household name. Jim Piddock has been in loads of stuff over here... and then of course there's Damien Molony. He isn't exactly unknown in the US...
Tangentially... I watched the pilot for Craig Robert's show, but it didn't really catch me. It's set in 1980's country club community in upstate NY... he comes to work at the country club as a tennis instructor before going to college, fancies the daughter of the club president who's way out of his league but will probably turn out to be the most profound girl in the whole show full of vapid, entitled teenagers partying/getting drunk, blond girls with big boobs, mouthy unpopular best friend... I think they are trying to capture the essence of popular angsty/romantic comedy 80's movies. (which I grew up on) But I didn't laugh once. And of course it irritated me that he had an American accent. (a bit dodgy) I might give it another go when it's actually developed into a show to see if any of his characteristic comedy can turn around my first impression.
Sorry to go off on that tangent.

Yes indeed! retweeted it but forgot to post here, thanks Pearl exciting to know Damien is doing adr, and I noticed on IMDb today the film has a confirmed 2015 release date. We knew that but it make you wonder if the official channels are gearing up with the promo info.
"Think a British American Psycho..."
Damo is just making films to order for me! I said I hoped Kill Your Friends would be like AP & that Tiger Raid would be a bit In Bruges and they've both been described exactly like that.
I could not be anymore excited for these films!

Ooh... that is fab, Thanks for posting fifi! It does make you wonder if they have seen the film already.. as far as I am aware it hasn't made an outing at any film fest yet?
I'm betting 'Kill Your Friends' is also going to be one of the most talked about films of 2015 - and not just by us!
tho not liking the tba UK release date and lack of US release date. Sill early days though.
