Stumbled upon this picture and article from Damien's early theatre experience.

"There was also strong support from the men in the play; in particular the character of Mint who was played by Damien Molony, the eldest member of the cast, who played him as an over-enthusiastic liberal whose deeper ambition for good results is exposed by Claire (played by Sandi Buckley)"

There is a mention of NT Connections, 2008, but I had always thought Damien was with Kildare Youth Theatre in 2007 at the same time as touring with the Balally players, the year after Trinity College and before Drama Centre London. __________________ Fan Site \| Twitter \| Instagram \| Facebook \| Youtube

He graduated Uni in 2007 and toured with two companies for a whole year... so perhaps last half of 2007 plus first half of 2008. Oh my lord... His hair is a thing of it's own! And it looks a much more brown in that photo... Could just be me but I thought he was a lot darker :O lovely photo! __________________ I may be on the side of the angels but don't think for one second that I am one of them.

Yes he did! His play with the Balally Players 'Riders To The Sea ' was in the one-act festival in 2007, and in this interview with London Theatre he mentions the tour and his work at the same time with Kildare Youth Theatre.

You worked your way across Ireland in a one-act play to fill your portfolio for performing arts schools to take notice, and the Drama Centre in London did. What can you tell us about your one-act play and that journey?

It was the year after university, and I decided that I would do everything I could during that year to try to get into drama school in London. I joined an amateur theatre company called Balally Players and they were putting on a ‘one-act’ play called Riders To The Sea, by Synge. I was asked to a read-through and I met the director in a hotel in Dublin. I did the read-through over breakfast and they offered me the part. I rehearsed with them twice a week for about 4-5 weeks and we put the play on in Dublin. This was part of the One Act Festival in Ireland where you have to get a certain number of points to get into the final and you perform in regional weekend festivals and you go against other one-act plays. The weekends were amazing travelling to the various regions. I think we did five regional festivals and got the required number of points to reach the final. The final was in a small church in Cork. We won the competition and I was nominated for Best Actor. I performedMacbeth (I was working with a youth theatre group called Kildare Youth Theatre at the same time) on the Saturday afternoon and flew down to Cork on the Sunday morning for a Sunday afternoon performance, and then had my first round of auditions for RADA on the Monday morning. It was like a Hollywood jet-set style life for a few days.

But he could no have been working physically with both at the same time, so 2008 makes sense!
