Good to see the general consensus is that Damien should appear in Doctor Who!

Lat's not forget... not so long ago he was A Favourite for the Next Doctor Who!

Doctor Who: 10 Actors That Should Guest Star In Series 9

10. Damien Molony

BBC

BBC

Molony first came to light as the ancient vampire Hal in Being Human, written by none other than Who regular Toby Whithouse. He then spent two series as one of the leads and has been getting fairly regular television work since, with roles in Ripper Street and Suspects.

He’s a hugely talented actor who is able to portray ancient, vulnerable and amoral efficiently, and often at the same time. He also has a large amount of charm which is always useful for winning fans over. This means he could play a wide variety of characters, from villainous human to ethereal alien, allowing for a huge set of potential dynamics for the writers and directors to choose from. Speaking of writers, the previous experience of working with Toby Whithouse will help, as he’ll already have some idea of what to expect.

He’s also still a very young, up-and-coming actor. There are a lot of performers who’ve appeared in Doctor Who and gone on to have huge careers, such as Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield. A guest star slot could be a great opportunity for Molony and give him exposure to a wider audience. As he’s a performer who always gives his all and can thrill in the right role, this could be beneficial to both the actor and the viewers. He’d get the exposure Who offers and its fans would get an invigorating performance and a memorable character to boot.

It would be awesome to see Damien in Doctor Who! Wasn't he also tipped to be the Master at one point too?

Couldn't agree more with this, I would love to see Damien in Doctor Who! People around the world can see his potential, and role in Doctor Who would be such an honor. I would like him to be the villainwink

A spot on assessment in my opinion. biggrin  I'd like to see him play a villain but wouldn't that take him out of the running for playing Doctor Who in the future?  I wouldn't want that.

Jane - Peter Capaldi previously guest starred in Dr Who, so I can't see that it would prevent him from playing the doctor in the future......tho I'm still not sold on the idea.  But a guest role in itself would be great (as would the master - but I think its more a case of wishful thinking, Rosie!)

In any case it's always great to read articles like these.....there really should be more of them!

"He's a hugely talented actor who is able to portray ancient, vulnerable and amoral efficiently, and often at the same time"

.......exactly! (and a great choice of picture)

I know that Capaldi was in an episode before but I didn't think it was a particularly memorable role.  Was he a villain? I remember it was the Pompeii episode but I didn't like that episode so I don't remember it very well.

Jane, it was Pompeii episode where Capaldi was, when David was a Doctor. It's really weird to watch that episode again, now when Capaldi is a Doctor. Like fifi said, it has been done before, so I don't think that would danger his position as possible future Doctor (who knows??), I think it would make those changes even betterbiggrin

Yup, the Doctor Who rumour - whether it be as the Doctor, as The Master or as a guest - isn't going away... maybe some time soon the show creators will listen to the audience!
