I found the perfect compromise, fifi - listen to Me and the Devil while studying!

I'm glad it works for you rosie. Must admit I think I'd find it a bit hard to concentrate on the studying..... biggrin

I was only googling images for powerpoint slides so didn't need all my powers of concentration! It was just nice to have Damien's voice in the background! I have lots of Damien related rewards lined up as motivation but I have to earn them first!

Rosie I admire your restraint.  I of course have none whatsoever.  Hal would be proud of you.  I on the other hand would make a good poster girl for the vampires...

I'm very good at making 'excuses' to myself as to why I haven't done enough work so the rewards have to be worth the restraint! At the moment this is me hanging on by my fingernails ;)

This only has 4 days left on iplayer!

Rosie - I hope you've done enough work to indulge yourself some more before it's too late.

Kallie - I'm pretty sure you will.... biggrin

Is three nights in a row to get to sleep normal??? Only thing is still not 100% sure about the plot because Damien keeps sending me to sleep...

Aw missed your posts fifi and whimsy! you're very welcome!

I listened to this again yesterday as one of the top treats for halloween

It is a dark little number, but it struck me again how Damien always evokes something extra in his readings, a quintessential unnamable something, that takes listening into a deeper place.

I posted this in the halloween thread....but I probably should've been inarticulate here instead...so....

...I probably listen to the devil and me about once a week. It's such a beautiful piece of writing......so evocative,  so poetical. There are phrases in it which I find running round and round inside my head like music.  I really must read some of her stuff!  And Damien's reading of it is .....immediate - carries so much conviction.....ugh! I'm so lacking in vocabulary!    I absolutely love it!!

See domino - I'm in total agreement with your "quintessential unnamable" "something extra"....biggrin but you said it so much better than me!

Yes, really dark tale. But the perfect combination of writing talent and actorly talent in story telling.
A real gem from Damien's treasure trove of radio projects.

First time listening RJ? I am so glad this has been made available again.

This has always been one of my absolute favourite things that Damien has done. It is dark, but the writing is spectacular and Damien's reading of it is beyond incredible.

Oh, my goodness, listening to this again sent shivers up my back. He reads this so well, so much packed into such a short time. I'd forgotten how many feelings this evoked.
So glad it has been made available again.

Well said Ellie. approved
RJ, what a treat for you to listen for the first time and for anyone else who missed it in 2015!

Let's hope this is the first of many repeats of Damien's many radio projects.

The perfect listen for Halloween

Damien reading Eimear McBride's haunting, moving, quietly horrifying short story

'Me and The Devil'

A story of dark family secrets and a journey home to execute a long-awaited act of revenge.

This is still one of the most incredible things I've heard on the radio. It's a powerful tale enhanced by Damien's wonderful, sensitive reading of it.
