After months of eager anticipation, we have exciting news – Damien’s feature film Tiger Raid is heading to Tribeca Film Festival for its world premiere 17 April. The 15th edition of the festival takes place in New York between 13 – 24 April.
The film has been selected as one of six world premieres for the ‘Midnight’ section of the festival, which features “the best in horror, comedy, action, and camp.” The other films areHolidays, Fear, Inc, Here Alone, King Cobra and Rebirth.
Tiger Raid is the first feature for Dixon Baxi Evans Film (formerly Story Film) a “Visionary Film and Television Production Company” and is directed by Simon Dixon, produced by Gareth Coulam Evans and exec produced by Aporva Baxi.
A dark and “deadly” thriller, featuring “two mercenaries bound together by a job, hounded by demons from their pasts and unable to face the truth of who they are”, the film stars Damien in a leading role in the film as Paddy, alongside Brian Gleeson as Joe, Sophia Boutella as Shadha and Rory Fleck-Byrne as Ruby. It is based on a play by Irish writer Mick Donnellan, who co-wrote the screenplay, and has a film score by award-winning composer Dean Valentine.
From the first thrilling glimpses of Tiger Raid and Damien’s character to our most recent look at its atmospheric imagery and stylish titles, the film has been revealed to have a compelling and shadowy tone, and there is every indication that we’re in for a profoundly affecting, intense, evocative, haunting, incredibly stylish movie with exceptional production values.

Such exciting news that Tiger Raid has been selected for Tribeca, congrats to the whole team!
The film's inclusion in the 'Midnight' section. "which honors the old Whodini mantra of, "The freaks come out at night."" totally confirms its dark nature...
The synopsis via Tribeca calls the film a "two-hander". This also excites - Damien in a lead role alongside Brian Gleeson. Yes! - and confirms that the relationship between the two main characters in the central focus.
"Two mercenaries in Iraq speed through the dead of night, on their way to execute a covert mission. But as they near their objective, past misdeeds come violently to the surface, in this action-packed two-hander. "
Tribeca - wonderful. I can start breathing again, it is really happening.
Let's hope this is the first festival of many.
I'm just glad things are finally moving and can hardly wait for Tiger Raid to go on general release.
The new artwork and TR logo is gorgeous! I'm looking forward to seeing all the promo Dixon Baxi Evans does for the film, it has always been visually stunning and it's just going to get better and better!

Hopefully this is just the first of many exciting announcements about Tiger Raid! Love the artwork with Damien as Paddy with his magical skills of making us feel feelings just by looking down!
I this so much! I am, as everyone else is, so thrilled for Damien. I hope he gets to go to Tribeca, I'm sure they've known for a bit and have made all the arrangements. Maybe we'll get a glimpse if they do reporting and interviews.
Everything we've seen is absolutely stunning and I'm sure Tiger Raid will be amazeballs!

The RTE.ie article features interview quotes with writer Mick Donnellan and director Simon Dixon!
"I'm very excited about the film," writer Donnellan told TEN. "Having it chosen by Tribeca is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I'm delighted and lucky to be involved with such a fantastic team."
"Tiger Raid began life as a stage play set in rural Ireland," director and co-writer Dixon added. "This gave the film its Irish voice, but we wanted it to have an international heartbeat. We re-contextualised it to the war-torn Middle East, heightening the violent and incendiary themes."
"We filmed in Jordan so that we could immerse ourselves in the reality of the Middle East. We wanted our actors to tread on sand that stretched to Baghdad, to battle 120-degree desert heat and to wake to the sound of the call to prayer. The uncompromising reality of the production fed their performances. The film explores the dark hearts of men; it is revelatory and emotionally explosive."
