While I don't agree with BH having any murk at any stage of its life, I do feel not enough credit is given to the second trio of the team. The actors came into almost impossible circumstances and turned around an entirely disillusioned fan base. The characters were just as epic and engaging and became just as well loved. The And for me personally, more loved... after all, I started this place because of Damien's Hal.
So this article should totally put the cat among the pigeons....
Damien often talk about how hard it was to fill this vampire role after Aidan, the original team had this chemistry which is why people loved the show. Sometimes the second team can never be enough and fill the void the original had left behind. It's like new Doctor Who, you've already got attached the current one and you don't want any changes and maybe that attitude is why some people never watch the fourth and fifth series of BH (I know few and I wonder this a lot).
But I think I liked second team better in BH, I of course loved the original team but it was getting a bit old story anyway, moody Mitchell and George who was always having this on off relationship with Nina and constant relationship problems with her, I didn't see where that was going anyway anymore. Hal, Alex and Tom really saved the show and I'm still disappointed that they ended the show.
One positive thing is that I always like when there is talk about BH and most importantly, Damien related
Well said, both of you. I feel the same, that while there will always be a special place in my heart for the originals, the 2nd trinity brought the show to a whole new level. I do think the show had gotten murky, for the same reasons Jozie mentions. I remember just not being as enthusiastic about it as much, the Mitchell whining and the constant squabbling. It got darker and the story line dragged. The laughter and quirky spark was gone. I kinda was rooting for Mitchell to kill himself already. Just put him, and everyone else, out of their misery. Of course when the moment came I was balling and in shock, but still a bit relieved.
Bless Morgan for keeping a little bit of Being Human alive in the media! Little reminders that there are still plenty of fans that appreciate such a unique show and still mourning the end.

It took me a while to warm up to the new trio, but I agree overall. The show needed new blood, and it worked out very well in time. I'm not a fan of S4, as I've never liked the "vampire mythology" type stories (that's what made Being Human great - not much of that), but the characters were still interesting (the strength of Being Human) and the new blood was working. Especially Alex and Culter and their interactions with Hal. Then, once that plot was tidied up, I fell it love with Being Human all over again.

Well said Morgan Jeffrey (and everyone else!) I don't know if murk is the word I'd use, but Being Human had certainly taken on a darker and more gloomy outlook for series 2 and 3.....the optimism of s1 had pretty much disappeared - putting everything else aside, the new cast gave the opportunity to lighten the whole thing up again.
It's interesting that this article was released so soon after Comic Con.... If you'd never seen BH but saw any of the panels there you might have got the impression that the original trio were the only cast line-up - it was almost like s4 and 5 hadn't happened (apart from the odd comment from Lenora) Morgan Jeffrey actually led the panel interview......maybe he felt like he needed to redress the balance!!
Murk is an odd choice of word for sure. I love both trios equally really. I preferred the less sci-fi / mythology based feel of the orifinal three but actually, when series 4 and 5 were at their absolute best (let's not mention Sticks And Ropes eh?) then it surpassed episodes from s 1-3 in my opinion.
