"The set is grand, almost timeless. In the characters’ costumes, particularly of those who make up the quartet, Owen Teale as Briggs and Damien Molony as Foster, the 1970s looms larger. The room is round, recalling an Observatory, except that the curtains are closed and we are inside it and a skyscape of trees waves overhead, in the gradually growing light. The soundscape was almost imperceptible. All in all, an inspiring, thoughtful arena for this gripping drama to play itself out.

The sense of threat and of cruelty, of shifting power dynamics increases greatly with the introduction of the Briggs and Foster (all four characters’ names reflect Pinter’s love of Cricket). We come away with many questions and few answers. Truthfully? We had just witnessed brilliance."
