I love how Damien gets involved with so many different projects. He refuses to be pigeon - holed and we get to enjoy him in lots of different things. I love the look of the animation in this.
This could be interesting, wonder if we'll ever get to see it? Damien has such a beautiful voice, I love listening to it.
Iain Glen has a good voice, too. He's a bit of a divisive figure in my family - I like him in most things but my eldest can't stand him and won t watch anything he's in. I only persuaded her to watch "Delicious" by telling her that his character died early on and after that he was the voiceover! I'm torn about his Jack Taylor character - his Galway accent is poor and I watch it mainly because of the glimpses of Galway. However, he's well known now because of GoT so will be a draw.
Well said Rosie and yes, from the pictures it looks like an amazing animation, loving the flavour of it. I think it is going to be gorgeous and grown up at the same time. It sound like the tailor mouse has a lot of angst - and Damien is so good at angst. Will he be playing the tailor, or another character I wonder?
I so hope we do get to see it Ellie I'm super interested in this one!
Only 5 days until The Fabric Of You world premiere at Edinburgh Film Fest!
In case anyone missed it, the premiere is part of the Animation Strand and takes place 1.10pm this Saturday 20 June at Filmhouse Cinema in Edinburgh - and ticket are still available!
Josephine Lohoar Self has shared a more detailed synopsis on her official website:
Set in the Bronx, in the era of 1950s McCarthyism, everybody wants to look the same. Michael a gay, twenty-something-year old mouse, hides his true identity while he works as a tailor. When Isaac enters the shop one day he offers the escapism and love Michael craves. In Michael’s confined apartment, he becomes tormented by the memories of Isaac’s tragic death. Michael’s memories and flashbacks are triggered when he notices Isaac’s jacket draped on the back of a chair. Haunted by the solace Isaac once offered, he struggles to come to terms with his loss.
I found this BTS video spell binding, what a treat to have a glimpse of the process! I think the story of this tailor mouse is going to be really moving.
Oh, blast, science kicks in with the knowledge that mice live, on average, a year! Sorry, I just can't help it!
Is there such a thing as mouse years? After all, we think in dog years or cat years.I
The video is amazing. This plus the titbits from Keep Breathing make me really appreciate all of the hard work the backroom boys (and girls) do to help create the final product. The actors are the ones we all think of first, but they are all essential.
These are obviously very special mice, I do love the look and aesthetic of the mice models they use, the bts video shows a bit of the stop motion animation and it makes you appreciate how much hard work goes into even a second of it.
Not long now until the premiere at Edinburgh, Josephine Lohoar Self will be there, wonder if Damien and ian Glen will join? I'm sure there will be other locations it will screen in the film festival circuit !
Special Mentions went to The Fabric of You, from Josephine Lohoar Self, and Red Film from Sara Cwynar.
“I am so grateful to receive a Special Mention from the Short Film Jury at this year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival. I had such a great time making this film and am so excited for it to have its World Premiere at this year’s Festival.' - Josephine Lohoar Self
It is also in competition in the animation strand for the McLaren Award, results for which will be announced at at the Closing Night Gala the end of the festival.
