It is coming up to that time of year again - the annual forum subscription renews this month (June).
DMF has been up and running for over 7 six years (our 7th birthday was on 21 March!).
I have always wanted the forum and connected sites to be free to use, but they are not free to run. It has always been very important to me not to have to ask for help with costs, and that the fandom can enjoy and explore the sites freely.
Over the years, many of you have kindly made contributions at specific times, which together with my own have enabled us to afford cards and flowers for Damien, with associated delivery and postage costs, for which I am hugely grateful. Any remainder has gone towards subscription costs. However these contributions have never covered the large costs of running the sites.
damienmolonyforum.com (this site) and damienmolony.org are not for profit and do not generate any money, but do have annual costs and subscriptions which I find myself increasingly struggling to afford.
The fansite (damienmolony.org) annual subscription expired in March, costs have been covered by me.
The domain names associated with both sites expired in April, costs have been covered by me.
Photobucket subscription (for all the forum images, gifs, footers and headers and more) expired last month, costs have been covered by me.
The forum subscription (damienmolonyforum.com) expires this month, any contributions would be much appreciated.
I took the difficult decision last year to add donate buttons to the sites, but sadly there still have been near to zero donations that way.
So I am appealing to all who have enjoyed DMF over the years to consider making a small contribution towards running costs of the forum part of the DMF empire!
To be completely transparent about costs, and where any donations will go, below is a breakdown.
Please note: The above costs do not include other payments throughout the year for things like Damien's cards and postage, charity fundraiser postage.
HOW TO MAKE A DONATION
To help keep DMF going, please consider making a small contribution to our running costs.
To donate, either click the link in the 'Community Funding' box at the bottom of the forum, or click HERE.
The Community Funding box can be found at the bottom of the forum on the forum landing page damienmolony.com, see the screenshot below.
All donations go directly into the forum account and will be used for the upcoming subscription payment.
Please note, the forum hosts are a Canadian company, and all donations via community funding are in Canadian dollars. To work out how much you wish to pay in your currency use the online converter at the link below to give you the amount in Canadian dollars.
Done! I haven’t been active around here in a while, but would be sad to see The forum go. this place is amazing and you do such a great job at it!

Just donated, domino. I love the forum. It's one of the few where everyone is nice, no nasty arguments. Quite apart from it keeping me up to date with what Damien is doing!
You are very much appreciated (by all of us, I think) for your hard work and dedication.
Dear Ellie, than you so much for your very generous donation to the forum costs!
I could not see it in the forum account, so checked the DMF Paypal business account and can confirm it is there. This is not a problem at all, but that is why whimsy's is named as "our most recent donor" in the Community Funding box at the bottom of the forum.
I will transfer funds across from Paypal into the forum subscription, and / or the balance will go towards future costs, for example towards Damien's cards, postage, DMF domains and subscriptions next year.
Aw, I really appreciate your kind words about the forum, especially as I have not been as active this year since my family bereavement. But it is I who must thank you for your constant support and participation here, it means an awful lot!
When I clicked on the "here" button (couldn't find the community funding box) it took me to page in dollars; so I went a roundabout route. Sorry for the problem it caused, just glad you were able to get the donation! I've had another look and still cannot see the community funding button any where on the page. Definitely going senile!
Mind you, I used to be able to see if anyone else was on the forum and that info has disappeared, too. I use an Android tablet not a pc, is it something to do with that?
It's ok, I've logged out, reset my tablet and logged in again and everything is there, right where it should be! It seems that info (community funding button, who's on the forum etc) disappears as soon as I read a post but logging out then back in gives a different view. Must be a tablet problem.
The default for contributions is still US dollars, though, not sterling.
Hi Ellie, my sincere apologies, I should have explained about the payments more clearly, thank you for highlighting
The forum hosts are a Canadian company so all donations on the forum made by the Community Funding box will be made in Canadian dollars, which is not ideal I know, but not something I can change unfortunately
Yes, you are right again! The statistic and Community funding 'boxes' at the bottom of the forum can only be seen when you are on the front landing page of the forum. They do disappear when in a topic on the forum, hence the link.
I shall make both these points clearer in the lead post of this topic, together with a handy converter from Canadian dollars to UK sterling (or other currency!).
Thank you, your post has been very helpful! Thank you again for your kind donation
Just to update, the forum annual subscription has now been paid for 2019 - 2020.
Huge thanks to whimsy and to Ellie for your contributions!
It is not too late to add your contribution to the forum, but this one does not involve finances - please help us to keep this community active, fun and welcoming to all fans and come and join in with the discussions!
Post post post!
We have a huge amount of readers and visitors every day, please come and say hello!
It will also help me to feel less lonely and sometimes disheartened by the lack of responses on the board, The forum was never intended to be a blog or news site just for reading purposes, but a place for everyone to join in and share!
A massive thank you again to those of you who made a contribution to the forum annual subscription, which has now been paid!
Any contributions made to the community funding area will now go into the Damien Molony Forum Paypal business account and used exclusively for
1. Future running costs for damienmolonyforum.com and damienmolony.org (including Photobucket and domains)
2. Costs associated with any future Damien related items including postage for his birthday and Christmas cards, and postage for any future charity fundraisers, although I am happy to continue covering these costs myself.
The other highly prized and much appreciated contribution people make here will always be the fun and thoughtful posts shared!
I look forward to seeing you all on the forum soon...
