Welcome to everyone who reads this!

 welcome

Hello!

Thank you for visiting the Damien Molony Forum, I hope you like what you read, see and explore here!

I am personally appealing to everyone who is reading this, and to everyone who is one of the many visitors here at the forum, if you read some information here, if you see a photo you like, a gif, a screencap, a comment anything, PLEASE, come and say hello, join a discussion, post a comment! Or if you are comment shy, how about if you like something, post a quick thumsbup or smile!

This forum has been going since 2012. For over 7 years I have had the pleasure of chatting to Molonians from all over the world!

This community is fan funded and has an annual subscription that includes 500.000 page loads per month -  that is a lot of page loads! We have between 500 - 2000 visitors per day, many of whom look at many pages here, every day.

Last month, we exceeded our 500,000 page view limit!

From 22 June  - 21 July 2-19 we had

529,583 page views !

Yes you read that correctly!

wow

That is a lot right?

As the founder and web mistress of DMF, I am thrilled we have so many visitors viewing and enjoying content here. Thank you!

thankyou3

But, I am also sad that out of all those views, there is very little commenting or posting here.

I am aware that discussion forums are now seen as a bit old fashioned, the least sexy format on the web these days, with all the social media options now and an increasingly info hungry world.

And social media is a wonderful thing, DMF is also on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram!.

But, is there not also a place for something a little less frantic, a little less impersonal, something which has lots more space to discuss and 'virtually' meet people?

Not only that, but many fans have met at the forum and gone on to become friends in real life!

This community was never intended to be a blog  news site or an information portal for reading only - that is what damienmolony.org is for!

It is intended to be a place for fans to get together and talk about the work of their favourite actor. To join in the discussion, polls and other features here.

We also have a live chat box!

We also have the best and most up to date info on Damien's latest projects and insights you might not find elsewhere, that you may only discover if you log in and join in!

Plus, it gets lonely sometimes being the bringer of news sometimes, having an audience, but with no feedback!

AND - THERE IS LOTS OF DAMIEN TO TALK ABOUT AT THE MOMENT!

He is..

Currently appearing in GameFace 2

Currently appearing in feature film The Current War (in cinemas now)

Now appearing in Sky comedy Brassic

Soon to appear in 2 short films Keep Breathing and The Fabric of You

Soon to appear in BBC One legal drama The Split (series 2)

(And lots of this information, you will read here first!)

Here at the forum we also collaborate with Damien on charity fundraisers, send Damien Christmas and birthday cards and more!

Imagine how lively this forum could be if everyone who visited here posted 1 comment a day, or even 1 a week!

All are welcome, so please do come and say hello!

If there is something I could be doing to improve the interaction here, please let me know that too!

To this end, I have opened up comment on the forum for anonymous comments, so you don't even have to log in any more to join in the discussion!

However, it is more fun to have a user name, something with a Damien theme

If you are not already registered you can log in with your Facebook details or register here.

I really hope to read you soon! highfive

It would be so good to meet you. blowkiss

I just wanted to second domino's post! Domino puts a huge amount of work into the forum and making it a wonderful fun place to chat to other Damien Molony fans. It would be lovely to hear from more people. Everyone is very friendly here and it would be wonderful to meet more fans.

Aw sorry to hear that things are quiet Domino & sorry i've not been posting, not guilty of looking but not posting though, just haven't been online. I wouldn't take it personally, this site had always been great and still is. I think your right, the world is mad on social media. What happened to all the original Damo fans on here? Did they only like him in Being Human? too bad, he's only got better and better I watch everything he's in!!!! Apart from The Current War which I've not seen yet & will wait for DVD. I'll try to post more often xx

So great to see you HalGal! Hope all is well with you. Thanks for posting! highfive

Totally agree about social media, but I also love it - it’s my go to place for news first and it definitely has its place.

But it’s not a replacement for discussion forums, or fan communities I don’t think!

It struck me the other day that we are kind of being brain washed by social media, into this urgent need for constant new information and stimulation, and the way you can ‘like’ and not connect, it trains you into a form of attention deficit and into not actually connecting using words.

Plus, here everything is archived and information doesn’t just disappear , unlike on social media so you immediately need the next ‘thing’!

I feel lots more pressure on the forum social media accounts to keep creating new content when there may not be any news. Another reason I am happiest here.

But I’d be happier if it was busier!

There’s nothing wrong with being a lurker on the forum, I just want people to be aware that’s not what this forum is intended to be!

It used to be buzzing with people posting, excited for stuff, just enjoying being part of a community sharing our admirations for our fave talented actor! I know the fans are still there so that’s when I feel perhaps I’m doing a crap job at getting them here... it’s inevitable to feel that way I guess. Also behind this forum is a person, the info, news, photos and all the stuff people enjoy looking at doesn’t just land here, and I really appreciate when people come and post now and then!

I sometimes wonder about our original group here, lots came and went after Being Human, others may just have moved away from online life, others abandoned us for social media! Or just abandoned us! Ha ha.

Some of the friendships I made here are still there though just not on the forum, which I miss lots.

Like you I agree Damien has gone from strength to strength and if anything the diversity of his roles since bring even greater admiration!

For now, I still consider this forum my main online home. I’m very fond of it, of the man who inspired it, and all the people who have contributed in the past and the lovely few of you who do now. grouphug

The future of DMF is status unknown. But for as long as this forum is here, the door is always open, everyone is always welcome to come and say hi!

I think part of the issue is that we don't have structured conversations anymore to remind us to check back in and get conversations started.

We use to do weekly discussions here of BH or Ripper Street. I realize that takes of lot of work with screen caps and all of that. I wish there was an easy way to have actual watch parties on the forum that might draw people back in. :/

We could do watch parties on Discord (that works pretty well) or Facebook, but that wouldn't be here on the forum like before.

I do tire of the shallowness of social medial.  I've all but left Twitter.

Hi RJ! Thanks so much for your feedback!

Yes, I remember the BH Hal chats fondly! Lots of people attended them, the proof is on the front page bottom of the forum when we had 21 members logged in all at the same time on 7 April 2013!

We also did Jack chats for Suspects and while we did have a few dedicated members join those, the numbers were properly low.. I don't mind the hard work, if the interest is there and at the time I think we decided it was not.

More recently we had our GameFace series 1 rewatch party ahead of series 2 airing, the small few of us who joined in really enjoyed that! I've been thinking of doing the same for GameFace series 2 and for Brassic series 1, but going by the general numbers of peeps actually logging in here I wonder how many would actually join in. If anyone is interested come and lets us know! It's definitely something for the future after the fundraiser perhaps!
