Damien Molony guest stars in Say Nothing, a gripping Disney+ and Hulu drama set during The Troubles, the decades-long political conflict in Northern Ireland. The series opens with the abduction of Jean McConville (Judith Roddy, Derry Girls) and follows the lives of the Price sisters, Dolours (Lola Petticrew and Maxine Peake) and Marian (Hazel Doupe and Helen Behan). Through a series of secret interviews in her later years, Dolours narrates their journey, from joining the IRA (Irish Republican Army) to fighting for Ireland’s independence from British rule and a united Ireland. The sisters defy gender expectations, taking on prominent roles in IRA operations—including Dolours’ organization of the 1973 Old Bailey bombing, the first major IRA attack on English soil, which ultimately leads to their imprisonment and hunger strike.
The series explores the political and radical actions of the time alongside the personal toll on Dolours, who later struggles with PTSD and trauma.
Damien plays the actor Stephen Rea, who begins a relationship with Dolours after her release from prison. He first appears briefly in episode 5, ‘Evil Little Maniacs’, with his role expanding in episode 7, ‘Theatre People’, as their relationship develops.
Say Nothing premiered on 14 November 2024 and comprises 9 episodes.
Official Info
Say Nothing” is a gripping story of murder and memory in Northern Ireland during The Troubles.
Spanning four decades, the series opens with the shocking disappearance of Jean McConville, a single mother of ten who was abducted from her home in 1972 and never seen alive again.
Telling the story of various Irish Republican Army (IRA) members, “Say Nothing” explores the extremes some people will go to in the name of their beliefs, the way a deeply divided society can suddenly tip over into armed conflict, the long shadow of radical violence for all affected, and the emotional and psychological costs of a code of silence.
The series stars Lola Petticrew as Dolours Price and Hazel Doupe as Marian Price, young women who became potent symbols of radical politics. Anthony Boyle stars as Brendan Hughes, a charismatic but conflicted military strategist, and Josh Finan as Gerry Adams, a leading political operator who would go on to negotiate peace and has always denied having any involvement with the IRA. Maxine Peake stars as older Dolours Price.
“Say Nothing” is executive produced by Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson of Color Force, creator Joshua Zetumer, Patrick Radden Keefe, Edward McDonnell, Monica Levinson and Northern Ireland native Michael Lennox. The series is produced by FX Productions.
