As the Being Human Series 4 finale came to a shatteringly awesome conclusion last night, it seemed all too soon that the new characters we have grown to invest in and love in a weekly Sunday worship, Vampire Hal ( Damien Molony ) and Werewolf Tom ( Michael Socha ) were to disappear into an abyss of unknown duration, leaving us stewing in our own purgatorial juices along with our sadness over the loss of ghost Annie ( Lenora Crichlow ) who in all her etherealness had become our rock solid companion and friend though the years, She Who Was the oh so beautiful heart of Being Human, helping us through the losses of Mitchell ( Aidan Turner ) Nina ( Sinead Keenan ) and George ( Russell Tovey ).
And The Thing That Got Us Through The Week...and into the next, vapourized with the closing credits.
But then. The voice from within the screen spoke forth.... and BBC Three confirmed the return of the show next year!
According to actonthis.tv, He Who Must Be Praised creator and exec producer Toby Whitehouse has confirmed the return of both Damien Molony and Michael Socha for the series, which will consist of 6 x 60 minute episodes.
A whole year away seems a lifetime to wait, but..that's a whole year of delicious anticipation for the glorious moment that we are invited back in to Honolulu Heights and the lives of our favourite supernaturals. And after last night's mighty, magnificant and moving show, with stunning performances from the whole cast, I for one am already imagining that magnetic nuanced range of emotion Damien Molony brings to our angst ridden beautiful monster Hal unleashed on our screens next year.
Thank you to everyone involved in the creation of this...this....I can't even call it a show, it is not a piece, or a film, it is a full on experience that transcends tv. All I can say is....
BEING HUMAN........................................... #WIN!
It is such fangtastic news! Lol! I have made the choice to enjoy the suspense, and contemplate all the delicious directions Hal and the Honolulu Heights family storylines may take. it is like cerebral foreplay. (sorry! could think of no better way to describe)
Well, I was a happy girl to learn that they are coming back for a 5th Season. And to get through some of it, I will have "True Blood". :) It's on my top five list... hehe... I can not wait to see where the 5th season will take the characters or the story lines they come up with. :)
i have my year planned out: being human, merlin, doctor who being my main fillers. Loved that final scene with Hal tied up and the look on his face when Tom says he's doing it cos he's his best friend, awwww just adorable and yes I cried like a numpty to the final episode, such fantastic performances all round
who knew TV could be so fulfilling! Well said MalichisMinion, for me Being Human has always been an emotional rollercoaster...tears one minute laughter the next..Being human has a very unique recipe like that. the intensity fills you up but then gives you a raging appetite for more:)
I watch all my Being Human DVDs a lot as well as on Netflix, and my brother's just walk by and shake their heads! It is an emotional rollercoaster, I don't know how I will fill ten months of voids with no new Being Human but, I have True Blood, Sherlock (DVD anyway) and on Sundays, (don't laugh) I have my nascar racing until December... Hmmm, I am trying my best at some fan fiction though, that should keep me busy... Lol...
Was exstatic to hear BH back for s5. Filming is well under way as there coming to the end of block one. Think Hal will have a few 'past reminders' after him and the others (or i'm probably totally wrong !). Looking forward to the Hal/Tom banter again :D Here's hoping for a s6 too.
I definitely hope we get some past reminders Kath but don't want to think on it in too much detail ! I honestly never want Being Human to stop.... it is the best tv I have ever seen in my lifetime and don't think anything can ever replace it. There is so much I could say... but it restored my faith in television and has played an important role in my life in terms of my health condition and being able to watch tv at all...it feels simply unjustifiable for it not be.. when other tv shows are. So it can never end. Period!
