Hello again Matty!!! I just saw your pics in the galleries, please ignore my question there. You are a lucky young man and I am turning into a green eyed monster!!!
I agree that as he gets more famous chatting to the fans may not be so easy, which is why it is so great you got to have a nice chat with him and you can also look back in it years from now and smile.
Thank you for telling us all about it!!! :D I am not going to be able to see the play but like to hear about it from you all xxx

@ Rubyrossetta you know what they say about men with big feet!!

Hope it's OK to put this on your forum Domino. I should be on the Being Human Blog page, but like many people, I keep getting that dreaded HTTP 404 Not Found message everytime I get on to it!
Anyway, for everyone from here and the Being Human Blog who are coming next Sunday (May 20th) to see Travelling Light, I thought it would be nice for everyone to meet up before hand and I am planning on booking a table at the National Theatre's Mezzanine restaurant at 1.30. http://www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/34972/food-and-drink/food-and-drink-at-the-national-theatre.html
I thought that would be a good place as the food looks nice and not too expensive and we'll all be at the theatre, so don't need to rush off. What does everyone else think?

Hi Laura, well this topic is for peeps to talk about Travelling Light so no reason why not! I feel it is always wise to not divulge certain info on the net, so maybe the more private arrangements best not on public forum?

Hello

I saw Travelling Light at the Grand Theatre in Leeds on 24 March (seems such a long time ago).

It is a wonderful play that left me thoroughly charmed, not least because of the young man on the stage.

I braved the stage door & said hi to Damien who was as lovely as everyone else describes. I have a picture, which you can see as my avi on twitter.

I'm joining LondonLaura on 20th May as part of the rather large group of BH Bloggers who are going to see TL - lets hope we don't scare Damien away at the stage door.

Thanks Domino. Don't worry, all personal info is on people's DM on Twitter wink

The main thing is that we've booked a table at 1.30 at the Mezzanine Restaurant in the National Theatre for 10 people. We've not booked the Sunday lunch menu, so there's no commitment to eat, it's just so we have a place to meet up.

Now, back to reading Matty P's advice about what do after the show smile I bought a programme last time, & would like that one signed, but the paper is shiny, so what would be the best pen to get? Maybe a silver one like Matty's. Or shall I get a black one and get my ticket signed instead.

so pen recommendations - i'd advise Sharpies are the best option - try to get two colours if possible - black & another so silver or gold is good if you are planning on getting an autograph on a 'darker' picture or something shiny!! a good investment for future autograph options..! also beware of smudging - so keep the programme open to dry if you get him to sign that... good luck everyone.

I saw Travelling Light yesterday and had the pleasure of meeting Damien afterwards - what a sweetheart. I met @aquamarine_jo beforehand for lunch. Damien seemed to recognise my name and knew that Jo was "the writer", bless him. Will try to attach a photo. Absolutely excellent play - I'm so glad the 'Hal effect' persuaded me to see it!

How wonderful that you met Damien after seeing the play, well done for being able to keep standing upright!

It is such a gorgeous of you both, thank you for sharing with us all!

just realised i forgot to post this email i had about the potential dvd version of TL...see below:

Dear Matt,

Many thanks for your email and interest in our production of Travelling Light.

I very much appreciate your desire to see Travelling Light released on DVD. Unfortunately there are no immediate plans to release a DVD due to our rights agreements with our artists and our current focus on building the live, communal experience in cinemas for our National Theatre Live programme. That said, we have received great interest in DVD versions of all our broadcasts and we are actively exploring making this a reality. We will certainly keep you posted through the NT Live mailing list. If you have not signed up for email alerts, you can do so on our official site: https://www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/69876/email-sign-up/for-national-theatre-live.html

Once again, many thanks for your continued support of the National Theatre. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Best regards,

Sara

See now Matty, you are a man of unending resourcefulness!!!

I had considered enquiring about a DVD myself, but got as far as receiving a reply from National Theatre Live that there will not be another live cinema broadcast of Travelling Light. For those who don't know TL was broadcast live internationally as part of NT Live back in February! I recall Eileen and I talking about this somewhere else, but I can quite see how a dvd is not really in alignment with the experiential process of a live theatre performance, where the energy of the audience and that quintessential element of creating a unique moment of theatre as the very essence.

However...for people like myself, although in a minority, who are either disabled or unwell and unable to go to see a play, the dvd would be a way of making this piece of art acccessible. I am not one to whinge or make a fuss about this kind of stuff...but...... YES PLEASE. I may email myself now Matty, thank you! cheers bro! * wonders if a petition would have any value * ?!?!
