For those of you not on twitter there was a bit of a debate this week with tV Choice as to why Damien was not included in the Best Actor nominations for the TV Choice awards.
The concensus seems to be that as one of the best TV Newcomers of the year, he more than deserved a place, and that all the Being Human actors should be nominated. Damien was in a very, very challenging position when Series 4 fiming began, Being Human's previous vampire Mitchell (Aidan Turner) was adored by the fans and for many, including myslef, it was unfathomable how the show would ever be as amazing with him gone, or that anyone could portray as engaging a character, or that we could become so invested in a vampire character again.
Then Damien Molony came along and it all changed. Superb writing and exceptional acting soon had us completely absorbed as uber compelling Hal was unleashed on our screens.
For me as much as the actors are brilliant, and they are, Damien comes top of the pile because of this position he was in, adn hat he was brand spanking new into tv and to the role!
TV Choices' responses to me were that there was not enough 'space' to list more that one actor from each tv show..but they managed to do just that with other shows! grrr...
anyway, Being Human in nominated for Best Drama Series and Micahel Socha and Lenora Crichlow deservedly have nominations fro best actor adn best actress...so if you have not already, show your support by voting for them!
I was utterly gobsmacked that Damien didn't make it onto the list.
The chemistry between Michael and Damien as Tom and Hal is incredible and personally speaking, Michael wouldn't have got on the list without Damien. This is no disrespect to Michael because i do think he's rather fab but i thought Damien was that little bit better. I mean, the 'I'm not a man of God' speech' should've got him on the list alone!
I think Damien was overlooked. I think the excuse that it was down to space was just rubbish. If Michael made the list then surely to God Damien should've too, they were both in the same show, often on screen at the same time. How could anyone not be impressed by his debut, given the circumstances he was making his debut from? I do not think i've read a bad review of his performance, magazine critics seem to agree that he was one hell of a find for the show.
TV Choice's reaction to our pointing out their ommission came across as defensive rather than making any sense. Damien should at least have been listed. For crying out loud he won second prize at the Ian Charleson Awards. Obviously popularity means more to this tv magazine than actual talent.
I'll support Being Human and Michael Socha but that's as far as i go with them.
Hi Lisa, thanks for responding... just need a space to get my head straight on this one..I am truly baffled...this is not just rabid fan mania support for our fave actor, it actually makes no logical sense and is a factual error....
No denying that their are some briliant actors on their niminations list, and Michael Socha deserves to be there for his soulful eyes alone!
But their logic makes no sense as to why Damien is not there.their reasoning to me was:
Meh, I was a bit shocked too when I found out that he wasn't nominated and Michael and Lenora were, but then I just thought 'well they probably have a good reason for it', but it does seem a bit weird that they seem able to nominate more than one actor in the same category from other tv shows but not from Being Human :/

"And Tom is feeding me lots of banana, which Damien hates and Hal also hates"
A good reason could go some way to justifying it, but as you can see from the above, their reasoning is not logical captain!
But it is only a Tv choice award..Damien is destined for far greater things. in fact he better start building his trophy cabinet now, it is going to be full.
