I'm not enough of a film lover to answer the other questions but my favorite film ever is Interview With the Vampire, and after that comes the Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, even though I've only seen it once :p And both of them star Brad Pitt, but I think that's just a coincidence :p oh an I also like American History x and the Shawshank Redemption

Some of my fave films have 'vampire' in the title, but are not really staight up vampire films at all! Shadow Of The Vampire (a fictional film about the making of the famous silent black and white 'original' vampire movie, 'Nosferatu') and Vampire's Kiss which is actually a very black comedy. (recommend both)
Ooh I've seen that one! It was so weird haha, and I was a bit disappointed that he wasn't actually a vampire :p I've been obsessed with vampires since I was like 8

If we are talking all time fave movies that is much more tricky, there are so many! unpopular choice often, but The Wizard Of Oz has to feature high up there for me! yes truly! I cannot resist the magic of it all.. A 2001 Space Odyssey (and most of Kubricks' films) any Hitch**** movie...fave early silent film probably John Barrymore's Dr Jekll and Mr Hyde...love campy horror so stuff with Vincent Price (Fall Of The House Of Usher Masque Of The Red Death) and Sir Christopher Lee... most David Lynch films..Also enjoy small imtimate drams like Sofia Coppolas 'Somewhere' one of my fave films of 2012 and last year faves were 'Drive' and 'Hugo'...could say so much more! SO many standout films I love but i would be here forever....
Favourite directors and most of their films in no particular order:
Ive never been very good a picking favorite things, but some movies that I really enjoy are Inglorious Basterds, Submarine, and the Princess Bride.
There's a film me and my friends watched the other night that I would highly recommend for anyone who likes super campy horror! It's called Trailerpark of Terror

Oh, Vampire's Kiss, I saw that, too. I was cringing all the way through XD I just don't like films where people make fools of themselves...but it is a good idea for a movie, and nicolas cage is a great actor.

My favourite films are The Blues Brothers, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, An American Werewolf in London, Little Shop Of Horrors(1986 version), Ghostbusters, The Producers (1967 version), The Evil Dead, The Excorcist, Labyrinth, The Wickerman (70's version), Carrie (70's version), Kill Bill, An Inspector Calls, Back to the future, The Crow.

... and I'm quite fond of Asian Cinema, even if I'm not an expert. In fact my favourite director is the malaysian Yasmin Ahmad, who made (she sadly recently departed, only 51 years old...) brilliant, sweet but also intensely political films, mostly about family and love and ethnic and cultural integration in her country. I actually admired her a lot as a person too...

Hmmm, these all seem interesting, for me, My favorite movie of ALL TIME is "The Lion King". Then it would be the Lord of the Rings Trilogy (Favorite book as well) and then Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
My favorite kind of movie are comedy or action/adventure... I guess I would have to put Fantasy in there as well. Lol.
I absolutely adore Robert Downey Jr and Jim Carrey and almost anything they have been in. Right now I am on a Tom Hiddleston phase type thing so I'm enjoying his work and would put him as a favorite... As well as Benedict Cumberbatch...
I don't really have a favorite director but right now if I had to pick one I would say Steven Speilberg because of "War Horse". The way the movie was done was absolutley wonderful!!!
As for recommendations, I would say "War Horse" and a movie called "Third Star"...
I've seen it! "Third Star", and recommend it too... it's not perfect, but touching and beautifully done.
Sadly I don't agree with Pudas about "War Horse", even if it has a couple scenes I truly appreciated, but I totally agree about Robert Downey Jr and Tom Hiddleston. That's why I loved "The Avengers" so much
In the while, I've watched another beautiful British film I'd like to recommend (it has been filmed in 2007, so perhaps you have seen it already): "Unrelated" by director Joanna Hogg
It's about a fortysomething English woman, who after a row with her husband joins an old schoolmate and her family in vacation in Tuscany. Tuscany, by the way, is the only place in italy where, if you dial the wrong phone number, someone answers you in English (it has happened to me!) It's a film about change of life, connections among individuals, desires, possibilities, seduction and loneliness. It's of the artsy kind and not exactly action packed but, IMHO, very beautiful and true to life.
(Of course all I said above is intended to make me sound intelligent and profound , but I watched it because of the shirtless Tom Hiddleston ... )

"Unrelated" is one of the most powerful movies I have ever seen and incredibly inspirational for me as a writer :D But yeah I guess it does have to be your cup of tea :)
But initially, yes, I also watched because Tom was in it XD That the movie was so good was a nice surprise XD
Lol Zia, you made me chuckle agree with you both about 'Unrelated', what a beautiful intelligent film. And thank you for mentioning another female director..not enough of them
For many reasons, I am really looking forward to this:
I seem to have rather a masculine taste in films. What are classed as 'chick flicks' often leave me cold, i think the exception has been the Bridget Jones movies. I haven't seen the Sex and the City movies (nor the show they're based on), Mamma Mia leaves me ice cold (probably down to the fact that i detest Abba).
My favourite movies are The Lord of the Rings trilogy, i have the extended versions, also on blu ray (but i'm not what you consider a geek, i just love the story, the plot, the music, the cinematography)
I also like 'super hero films'. One of my all time favourites is the original Superman movie with Christopher Reeve. I also enjoyed the Brandon Routh version and i'm looking forward to the Henry Cavill version out next year. I adore the X Men movies (but not seen 'First Class'), i can just about quote the first one verbatim. I like Bruce Lee movies, early Jackie Chan movies (most of the time i'm watching with my jaw on the floor watching him do those stunts), I like historical films, the two Elizabeth I ones especially. Also Batman, i saw all of the Michael Keaton ones and i've seen the Christian Bale ones (saw The Dark Knight Rises at the weekend and adored it)
I wasn't one for the Bond movies until a friend made me watch Casino Royale. I really enjoyed the movie and not just Daniel Craig, although he helped, obviously. But my main reason for looking forward to Skyfall is because of Rory Kinnear. ... I'm serious! I'm gonna have to start an "Unlikely Crushes' thread.
Oh rubyrosettared! I hate Mamma Mia too! I was first exposed to it by a friend who had cheap seats for the show. It wouldn't have been my choice but I went for my friend and hey, it was a night out. I figured I'd enjoy the songs (Abba aren't my problem - the use of pop songs to string an almost non existent story together in an incoherent way is. As a Sondheim fan I deplore this lack of investment in original musical theatre!). The songs were fun, but I was baffled by the poor rip off of the Gina Lollobrigida film 'Buona Sera, Mrs Campbell' for the plot. Underwhelmed, I didn't see the movie when it came out but caught it on Sky, mainly because of the cast. Watching middle aged women recreate Abba videos like fourteen year olds left me cold too, arctic cold.
Strangely, I couldn't get into the Brandon Routh Superman. I thought the approach was a good idea, to start 'in the middle' so to speak, but maybe that's why I didn't engage with it. Strangest thing. I really wanted to watch it too because of Kevin Spacey. I've managed to see most of it now, in various stages, and it seems all right really.
And I love The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Not long ago I watched all three in one day. I thought I'd need a break, but no. It's a surprisingly easy thing to do, the story flows so well.
Can't recommend X Men First Class enough. Love it to pieces. And I'm off to see The Dark Knight Rises on Monday. Love Nolan's films.
Oh, and I was mistaken for a man on another site becasue of my 'masculine' tastes in books - sci-fi, history, including military.

So I am scratching my head again over a reboot, Spider Man..... i felt the same about the titanic..no doubt both reboots are spectacular BUT when there is so much creative talent in the world why not use all that energy (and financing!) to bring something new! especially when the originals are already superb, timeless classics.
Here here! They know what sells - the films that sold last year and the year before, so they literally dish out the same old thing. Anything else is untried, untested, unknown so why risk it. It's the same with book adaptations and movies based on tv shows. They know it already has an audience.
