Hmm... I did make the office listen to the interview he did on BBC Radio Leeds back in March. Don;t fancy my chances this time though Guess I'll just have to sky + it!

i have an alarm all set since it will air at 7:45 am here. hoping the week flies by..... can 't wait to hear his voice again! with family and festivities I haven't been able to have proper DaMo time. to keep withdrawls at bay I resorted to sneaking an episode on my phone while post-xmas cleaning, but even that was interrupted.
crossing fingers and toes we'll get to hear Damien's gorgeous natural Irish lilt.

I am really happy that the BBCiplayer works internationally for radio shows and that all of us have the opportunity to listen simultaneously!
It is pre-recorded obviously so Damien will surely be tuning in too! or maybe he feels squirmy about viewing /hearing his own work? Nah... we know he liked to watch BH as it aired!
Wonder if he will give it a plug on Twitter. I was surprised when he did not mention that he would be on T4 the other week. He's always sent a tweet before each Being Human episode and tweeted alot about Travelling Light - even when they were rehearsing.

SO exciting! Damien's career is growing Thank god for iplayer, unless my kids find some Lion Witch and The Wardrobe adventure to go on I won't be able to listen to this live!!! :(

Perhaps Damien will mention it nearer the time Laura, or maybe he realises we all know about it...? It cannot be easy self promoting! If only his 10,000 odd followers were also following us, we could save him the bother!
Lol HalGal, I often dream of my very own The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe moments! Really glad you will be able to catch up with Damien's radio debut, repeatedly, on the iplayer. I agree with you, it is exciting that our fave actor is branching out into radio, reading for a Radio station as prestigious as Radio 4 is truly brilliant!
I am so looking forward to hearing Damien's voice on my radio, only 3 days now !!! Very cool that the producer contact u directly domino did u tell her we'd all be listening?!! They better be prepared for the I player to crash !!!

Same here HalGal, what a special way to begin the new year
Yes I was really pleasantly surprised to receive a personal reply, I had initially only enquired with BBC Radio 4, but they passed my email on to Heather Larmour, who said she hopes we all enjoy it , I passed on my assurances that we will all be tuning in live, and repeatedly on the BBC iplayer, that we are excited to hear our favourite actor in his first radio role and hope there are many more to come.
Same for me Peac ock, I became full immersed in the story on only about the third listen because I was over excited!
Having serious uni / campus flashbacks listening to this! Particularly of the labyrinthine library! (not the same uni obviously).
Peter Gabriel's Sledgemhammer and Jesse J's Price Tag will never be the same again!
The part where Brendan found the three most grim and despairing plays /book ever was funny! John Paul Satre No Exit (No Way Out) Samuel Beckett Endgame and The Unnamable
lol!
But overall a charming piece of drama, wonderfully written and beautifully performed. Well done DaMo

Tremendous stuff. And yes, that accent...oh boy that accent! *swoons* I kept away from Twitter during the transmission as i wanted to listen to the story without distractions. Very much enjoyed the story and the performance. Made me chuckle here and there. The boy definitely has a voice for radio (and a face for television obviously) but what a lovely New Year treat.
I was incredibly struck by how nuanced each line delivery was, just like Damien's portrayal of Hal. It seems to me to be a very masterful performance by a young and relatively new actor, I know we are all biased in his favour but...he has such talent and is a brilliant voice actor .
the writing and story was compelling too... and it is a real joy to hear Damien flex his acting chops in a different role, with that accent!
Just had to go for a quick march to tesco. No really...I needed to do some shopping!
In my early 20s (longer ago than should be possible) I used to listen to stories (and plays) on radio 4 a lot. Radio 4 always broadcasts top tales (although I do draw the line at the archers) and 'Student Stories' certainly didn't disappoint.
But lets face it.....the voice was perfect, and so was the performance. I just love the intimacy of this medium......
I stepped away from twitter when it started too, but must admit that for the first few seconds I didn't really register what was being said! So I'll just have to listen again.
(I also had an allotment in my early 20s and used to listen to Gardener's Question Time. Haven't heard it for ages. I definately think my 'interests' are more, well...interesting these days!)
