Here he speaks about his upcoming play and the three characters he plays!
"It's a fantastic play. It's extremely provocative and a really eye-opening piece of theatre."
"I play three different characters. It's the first time I've actually got to play an Irish character, which is great. I can use my own accent. The Irish character is part of a protest group. Then I'm playing a ****ney called Jason who is only in one scene, but it's a very powerfully provocative scene. It's very dangerous and very volatile, so it's fun to play something like that. Then I play a workman dealing with the cuts and the austerity that has been forced upon us. It's great to be able to play three very different characters in the space of 90 minutes."
and comments on the fans!
"You really feel that you owe it to this core of fans, because Being Human is almost funded by the fans. The fans fought for it to have a series and another series and another series. We're only here because of the fans, so it's wonderful to be able to pay them back.
It will be great to have the TV show on at the same time as the play because last year, when I was at the National, a lot of fans from the show came to stage door to say hello and give me vampire presents. It's great for the free T-shirt collection."
fascinated by the notion of playing three characters...and Damien can demonstrate his accent talent that we have already had the honour of witnessing in a number of his roles (tv, theatre, radio) I am particularly looking forward to hearing about the cockney accent!
It's a fantastic interview.....made my excitement levels shoot through the roof.
This morning I was struck with the thought that it appears to be a very small company, and started speculating that Damien might play more than one character; especially as the play seems to be very much divided into 2 parts. So that's that question answered!
I'm really glad that he'll be using his own accent; it'll be interesting to see how he copes with cockney.......
Thank you for commenting fifi, it is a wonderful interview. the more I read the more I am impressed all over again at Damien's interview skills, he always says something interesting and intelligent, but is not in the least bit pretentious with it.
Brilliant interview and I'm glad we finally know a little something about what the play involves and the parts that damien is going to play!
I honestly cannot imagine damien doing a cockney accent....I'm really interested to see how he gets on with it!
This also makes me more confident that he will come and see us at the stage door! After saying he's happy it's while the show is on as he gets gifts and lots of t-shirts
I've never got him a gift before, but I am tempted to get him something this time....
