According to my trusty TV & Satellite Guide, the US verison of Being Human is coming soon to Watch. No actual date. Well, can't fault the timing, but whether it's any where close to a replacement will have to be seen. Actually, I hope it's its own show, for its own sake.

I didn't watch it on television UJ, apologies! the first and second season are on dvd... they were lent to me. the third can be watched online.
It would be hard to remain diplomtic if i were to give my full review, but let's just say that there is nothing on television in the world that comes any way near Being Human . and there is only one Being Human. But Toby Whithouse exec produced the US series, and is credited in writing credits,,, so i felt i would give it a look.
Please Domino, share your full review! I'm curious :)
I watched the first episode when it aired and wasn't really impressed. I thought the casting was awful (except the guy who played werewolf). But it looks like from all the US remakes of UK tv shows this one is most successful.
The US remake is sub-par in many ways. The first season is actually pretty good, probably bc they stick very closely to the storyline of the UK version's first season. But after the first season, it went downhill pretty fast IMO.

Lol! ah sorry jennster.. i am too angry about the end of Being Human to give an objective review. I think Sami you covered it with "sub par"... I also feel the injustice that this show has how many eps in a series? and how much promotion and publicity?
Yes, I gather the uk series 5 comes to you in the summer - which seems an unfair amount of time to have to wait. The show is internationally loved and in an ideal world, should be internationally aired..I am sure the creators feel the same, but there will be reasons. just like there are reasons in the film world where films are shown in the US before they are here.
Anyway, we digress...this is about the American BH. My first thought was that it was an homage..seeing as Toby Whithouse is the exec producer and all. But if it was an homage they would have spelled AidAn correctly.
UJ dear I am just thinking... as this topic is not strictly Damien or Being Human uk, should we move it the cafe area?
I live in the US and have seen the first few seasons of the US version. It is lackluster compared to the UK version. In the absence of Being Human UK I guess I'll have to live with it. I'm waiting another month or so before catching up on the latest season for fear that I will resent it now that the UK version has been taken away from us.
I can't believe they named the vampire Aiden. I can't decide if it was nose thumbing or a compliment.

I haven't seen any of the US version of BH. The initial reason was that casting Sam Witwer as the vampire was a big mistake. I thought he was dreadful in Smallville and was so glad when he was dispatched!
And now that BH UK is ended () I am staying loyal to our version!

Thank you. Oh they did name him Aidan. That was a typo. I know an Aiden.
The UK season 5 will be on BBA this summer but there was no way I was waiting that long. I've already watched the final season. Waiting for the box set to come out here is going to kill me though. Not much I can do to speed that along. I'll have to make do with watching previous seasons repeatedly on Amazon.
I agree with Pearl, casting Sam Witwer as the vampire in the US version was a mistake. His acting is wooden and I don't find him particularly attractive. Otherwise it's a decent show, but still pales in comparison with the UK version.

I used to watch it but halfway through series 2 it got boring and too complicated imo so I stopped watching. Also (spoiler) apparently in series 3 (which is still running now) 2/3 of the trio become human for a while and then turn supernatural again? wtf, that's just weird to me..

Actually i thought Sam Witwer was pretty good in Smallville to begin with, then the plot arc with him as Doomsday completely crapped out and his character wimped out but he was watchable to begin with. I'd only watch the US version if he's any good in it and yes, his character was named Aidan as a homage to 'our' Aidan. My US friend was put off watching Being Human because to her he's too 'cro-magna man' to quote her.
I have a timer set because i am absolutely very curious (and because also i saw a trailer for it while watching one of my other shows and it looked...interesting). I just want to see what Being Human would look like with a decent budget! ;) given that the charm of ours works because it was so successful with a lack of a one.
It really is a decent show once you get past constantly comparing the two. The hard part is getting through season 1. After that it takes on its own path and becomes more interesting/enjoyable. I think my only real issue with it is that it lacks the humor that Being Human UK balanced so well. I still need to watch season 3. I'll probably get on that in a few weeks.
Dichen Lachman joins the cast in season 2 and I love her. Also, her wardrobe is stunning.
