Yes really exciting, it's worth remembering this is still in the speculation stages until officially confirmed, but it's hard to draw any other conclusions right now!
To be part of an award nominated drama, a period one at that - something I have always wanted personally to see Damien in- wow. And Damien will be back on our screens, so fingers (and everything else) crossed!
Also encouraging that filming has already begun on series 2 in Dublin. According to IFTN news filmng has now moved to the National Museum of Ireland.
fifi and Pradakat, it is not always up to Damien when he can tell us news of a new role, remember IYDLUD,WWLYS at The Royal Court? He said that he had to wait a while to tell everyone.
I love Ripper Street. Love it so if this is confirmed, then i will be extremely happy (and a bit excited)
My sis and i were talking about his future possible projects and both of us mused whether he'd get a role in this. I just had a feeling that if he went anywhere, he'd go to Ripper Street. I remember watching the first series and wondering back then too. As i said on Twitter, whether it's just for one episode or as a new minor regular, it'll be a coup for him. This time it's a BBC1 drama, the audience is much larger than it was for Being Human, it's a quality drama (and yes, before you all jump on me, Being Human was a quality drama too...) and more people will get to see him, perhaps get curious about him and make him more visible to any future employers, so act as a stepping stone for him. It's all good.
A minor regular character was killed off at the end of the last series, he could be stepping into that kind of role (pure speculation of course) or alternatively as each episode is pretty much stand alone, he could be in for just the one episode (as was Joe Gilgun- Rudy in Misfits and Luke Allen Gale - Springer in Monroe) but it's good exposure for him nevertheless.
So exciting news, and i wonder whether, if confirmed, this was the project he couldn't talk about when he was asked back in March?

Wow! I love Ripper Street. I hope he is a regular, not just a guest star. They killed off a young policeman at the end of the last series so anything is possible. We did speculate on the awards when he was presenting with MyAnna thingy!

That's true. Maybe he might be a new detective or policeman...I can see him with a quality Victorian moustache, lol!
I love that this was speculated over earlier - but I wish that he was a bit more forthcoming about his work. It's a bit like following a trail of breadcrumbs....!
Maybe it's his way of finding out who the most dedicated of us are, lol! Or he simply doesn't realise he has so many people waiting for info...someone needs to educate him that this is what Twitter's for!
Can't believe that he doesn't know how desperate we are to know what he's doing!! When his spotlight page was finally updated to show that he wasn't at the Royal Court anymore I was expecting something else to appear, but there's still nothing on there.
Agreed Lisa, whether it is a one episode supporting cast part or a larger role, to be attached to a quality BBC Drama with a large audience like this is /would be a fantastic and as you say great exposure for him. I believe it is a co-production with BBC America so it would raise Damien's profile worldwide.

I agree Lisa. I did feel there was a connection with Being Human, not only because actors like Amanda Hale & Stephen Robinson were in it, but during the credits, the announcer would give Being Human a plug. Something like, "Well, if you want to see some more drama, switch to BBC3 where award winning Being Human is just about to start". The only plugs BBC1 gave it. Gave me a warm glow. I did wonder at the First Light awards if it was more of a coincidence that he was with Myanna.
I'm now wondering too if this was the project he couldn't talk about in March.
Only bad news is that Dublin is too far away for a set visit.

Looks like Damien has tweeted giving it away that he's definitely in Dublin, so the question now is "how many episodes will he be in?" Followed by "will he be in uniform?" And "how hot will he look?" Lol.
Worst case scenario is he was just visiting a mate on set.
Not sure I see him as a replacement as the nice young copper who was 'orribly murdered. I don't see him as such a boy ingenue. If he's not actually joining the cast (and it'll be very nice if he was), maybe a good recurring role? Here's hoping we find out soon.

OMG !!! to Damo!!! I was hoping for a TV role for him, I so hope this is true, even if he is just in 1 episode he'll be back on our tellys!!! But he was a main lead actor in BH for 2 series so I hope it's not a very small role he deserves better than that. When does the next series come back? Xxx
