Oh, okay. Still would be very odd not to include Damien's name whether he's in it for one episode or more. Joe Gilgun, Paul McGann and Iain Glenn all got mentions and they were in single episodes. Unless there's a reason behind the mystery. I have no clue, just a tiny bit frustrated by the silence.
Damien is less famous than Paul McGann though, so maybe he's considered less important to be mentioned. And he could be in Dublin seeing friends or family so could be a complete red herring (anyone else planning to go and visit that nice restaurant he tweeted about though? lol)
Tamla Kari tweeted him about Ripper Street (Su retweeted it, something about beards and telling him to come along to the Musketeers and that she missed him-(awww)
Well if Damien gets the Doctor role (i can dream, i can dream!) then all of a sudden he's going to be a lot more important! ;)
It feels to me that we can only speculate on the details, but we do have the official confirmation that Damien is indeed appearing - possibly sooner than we should have had
still no more news? Maybe they try to keep it all under wraps because of spoilers? At least we know he's in it!!! i just wish 2014 wasn't so far off!!! Xxx

I saw a headline on today's Sunday Express saying that the BBC are being asked to tone down the violence against women in Ripper Street and other series! They might have to edit the programmes for viewing in other countries!
I saw that too Pearl - it is to safeguard "youngsters" from accessing violence by watching post watershed programmes on the BBC iplayer.
HalGal good point...sometimes revealing anything at all about a character can actually be a plot spoiler, and I certainly don't want that ofr Damien's role in Ripper Street!
Well spotted, Su! It's great to finally have some sort of public acknowledgement, even if we are none the wiser as to what he's actually doing. Somehow, the fact that it's finally made it onto his spotlight page makes me think that he's probably finished filming......
So....I wonder what has happened to this press release, then?!
I ate it fifi ! you know top secret an all! Damien dans le rôle de Pierre Derrière....prochainement!

more announcements of new actors in Ripper Street this week, but still quiet on the Damien front!
new theory: even a whiff of info about his character would be a massive spoiler - so it has to be kept completely under wraps until the very last moment!
I agree domino, he must have quite an important role because 1, they aren't mentioning damo's involvement at all 2, he's been there filming for months....can't be a minor role then 3, he did those interviews with myanna before filming began which suggests they wanted them to create publicity?
I can't wait to see it! :) xx

Sooner or later, we all go back to being the monsters we truly are!
I continue to live in hope that there's a reason why we're getting nothing more than a cursory 'yes, he's in it' press release from the production...and the fact that he keeps returning to Dublin and was very specific today saying 'on my day off' in his tweets makes me think he's filming there, so fingers crossed it's a multi-episode thing...
I thought with the Triathlon and all his London tweets he was back for good/done filming. But with his Tweets today.... and MyAnna Buring replied to his Tweet saying "I'm in". So they are still working together/in touch/have same days off?
Sounds like a multi-episode to me.
He had to have planned the Triathlon ahead of time, so maybe they took that into consideration in the scheduling or just coincided with a few weeks off filming?
Still think he had time for an audition or two....

To play my favourite position (ie devil's advocate)
Perhaps Damien's role is a minor but regular role, similar to the role of Hobbs in S1. He wasn't a regular per se but he was in just about every episode (junior constable). Little to no publicity regarding his role. I'm really hoping that's not the case with Damien but while we're all on tenterhooks waiting to find out what role he's taking, he isn't the 'star' of the show this time. That's Matthew MacFadyen, Jerome Flynn, Adam Rothenberg and MyAnna Buring. We'll probably get an outline of his character but i doubt we'll get the kind of publicity about him being in the show that he got with Being Human... but i hope to God that i'm wrong.
Hi Lisa, yes agree, Damien is obviously not going to be a main character, (but my god with his talent that day cannot be far off can it? ) my confusion is - why the publicity for other new cast members, who are also not major characters!
Tiger Aspect have updated their website, with a brief new synopsis of Ripper Street Series 2!
Does this give us any clues about the kind of character Damien could possibly be playing?
RIPPER STREET SERIES 2
The job of preventing Whitechapel from descending into hell has never been harder for Inspector Edmund Reid and his loyal deputies Detective Bennett Drake and Homer Jackson. As the century enters its final decade, society teeters on the brink of moral collapse and nowhere are the bloated British Empire’s problems felt more keenly than in its dark heart: the East End of London.
As well as a society in rapid decline, our heroes battle many new challenges as the wickedness of empire comes home to roost on Whitechapel’s streets. The past is gone and our heroes need to find a way to come to terms with their present – both personal and professional – in order to meet the ever more gruelling challenge of policing the chaos on these streets.
