They close topics at the drop of a hat! I think they sometimes do it too quickly. Somebody's valid point then gets lost amongst all the other rubbish (not yours, of course)!
Honestly....the anticipation for this press release is almost making me feel sick! I'm so, so glad that you got a response from Tiger Aspect, domino, or I may have just exploded by now. It seems odd that articles about filming, and pics have started to appear, but we're still waiting for this press release......
Deep breath and an ommmmm fifi, here's a meditation cushion for you..... I am with you though!
The online media are simply regurgitating the original story that sprang from Glenn Spears' tweet and photo. But you mean general press on series 2 of Ripper Street? Yes i agree, which is why i feel a press release is not far off.
Very grateful to head of Press at Tiger Aspect for even responding to us at all, I had the feeling that he wanted to share earlier and more, but had to ask permission if it was ok to do so...from whom I do not know, the Beeb? Damien's agent? My feeling is also that it is not up to Damien when to reveal the news either, his hands are also tied.. so I do feel for him in that respect, especially as he has quite a questioning group of fans on twitter.
As a fansite and as fans of course we have no 'rights' to info, but as I pointed out to Tiger Aspect, it is unfortunate that the photo and story had already been leaked and circulated (by larger media sites than ours) therefore correct official info would actually be beneficial at this point.
Perhaps we as a fanbase could also acknowledge that our impatience is because we have recently lost Hal and are keen to see Damien again on our screens and soon..the grieving is adding to the need to have some good news.
Just got to roll with it my fellow Damiacs..and trust there are big things coming for our favourite Mr Molony, Ripper Street? just the beginning.
They're possibly going to do a Press "Day" as such and get the new regular characters officially in front of the media rather than just a generic email, which would explain why it was such a short (and sweet) response. And I would expect that any embargo would be production/BBC related rather than agents as they're probably desperate to tell everyone because it makes them look successful!
I did also think that, if it was simply a guest role, they'd be more likely to just say than if it was a regular role - but that's just me spitballing rather than basing that on any solid info! (bit of wishful thinking as well...)

Exactly.....yes! I'm desperately trying to guard myself against disappointment, but, in light of the fact that I've seen pics of other guest characters around, it's just tugging on my chain that there isn't any info forthcoming about Damien's role.....
Domino - I know...patience, patience. But articles like this...
if it is a regular role, great, but if it is a guest role great too, because the latter only means more projects to be attached to. I am not being glib or falsely enthusiastic to rally spirits, this is in fact, the reality. so all is good!
(And perhaps encouraging people to be a bit more glass half full! either way this is FAB news!)
I think we may get more information once the press pack is released and i think that's quite a few months away yet. It is frustrating because i've noticed via Twitter that a couple of actors have been announced as new cast members (Stephen Hartley i think his name is) as well as Joseph Mawle but nothing on Damien, not a dicky bird.
@Lisa I saw those casting announcements too Lisa, which possibly point towards Damien having a guest /one episode role. Agree that a large press pack will probably be released nearer the time of series 2 airing, but, we were told direct by head of Press at Tiger Aspect that a press release was about to be issued 2 weeks ago and since that is had been delayed..I wold be surprised if the press release he is referring to was postponed for months - I may be wrong. My feeling is this is a preliminary press release?
@fifi that's the #MolonyEffect for you.. #verysorry #notreally
Rachel, Ripper Street is filmed in and around Dublin. There doesn't seem to be a specific website about locations but Wikipedia lists some of the ones used last series.
Dublin is quite small so one can probably find the locations with a bit of driving around (I always found the public transport to be a bit nuts. Good, but nuts!)
further to my last post, there has just been a BBC press release for BBC One period drama 'The Paradise' announcing the beginning of filming for the second series and new cast. fingers crossed Ripper Street is to follow. I guess you need to have a gap between your period drama press releases
It's filmed in Dublin, a place with 'Barracks' in it, i want to say Clarence Barracks but i don't think that's right. I think a lot of the show is filmed there with the odd secondary location.
UJ, it's been confirmed as Domino's had an email from the Press Office at Tiger Aspect (it's on an earlier page in this thread), but no info regarding the type of role and whether it's a regular or guest spot.
Hi UJ, it was at the end of last week, we are still awaiting the press release but as Kat just mentioned head of Press confirmed after some emailing back and forth.
has to happen soon Lisa, as I said a few posts ago, The Paradise had a casting and start of filming press release t'other day.
I feel less impatient now that we've had the official confirm, there is quite a stretch between now and air date for series 2. Perhaps it would give Damien permission to post something himself on twitter about it though, which has to be awkward for him, with all the congratulatory tweets and questions on it from fans!
My money is on a one episode role, but Ia m intrigued as to the kind of character!
