I honestly can't wait to see this. I woke up today in pain and miserable. Now I'm just in pain and excited for Damiens new acting role. He suits clothes from earlier era's. What I wonder is what accent he'll be having as his character in the show. Is he going au naturel, are we going to see a resurfacing English accent or maybe something else?
It's fantastic how good news about your fave actor can make everything feel better. Was having a down moment and feeling rather rubbish. And then i log on and see this news? FANTASTIC thanks for posting

The photo has now been removed from Glenn Speers' Facebook page, so the link above is a dead 'un. I will keep it up but if there is a problem with sharing and enjoying this pic, I will of course remove it if asked.
Oh now it's official i can go to the landing & do my impersonation of laura linney ! ( stomping my feet, waving my arms & shaking my head back & forth Québécois style ) !!!

I saw the original posting and I suspect that he removed it because almost every comment was about Damien, lol - it is Glenn Speers' facebook page after all! And I did feel a bit sorry for him. Maybe he can take comfort from the fact that, due to association, i now know who he is! But I feel quite happy enjoying the pic on this site, and would like to give hearty thanks to whoever took it and to Glenn Speers for making it available for long enough to find it's way here!

I echo your sentiment fifi, as a result of Glenn's tweet and fb I discovered that Glenn was a fellow spotlight Irish actor to Damien, which made me curious as to whether their characters will be Irish, or if it is just because Ripper Street is filmed in Dublin.
I keep coming back to this picture and grinning. I can't wait to see how this will go!
Domino - thank you, it's gotten worse but I'm hoping it will stop over the weekend, if not, I may book an appointment or go to the hospital.
Be well Yorke...I hope you recover quickly.. shooting healing thoughts in your direction. Apologies, I edited my earlier tweet so the comment about removing the pic was clearer.
There's an irony in the fact that they're filming a series about london in dublin, with 2 irish actors who both live in london - so they'll probably turn out to be scottish!
That washed-out photo was driving me nuts so I adjust it. Not much background recovery but I think the details of their faces and hats are better.
That man just looks so good in period clothes! Even if he does look a bit like a young'un in oversized trench and top hat. He looks more cleanshaven than his normal Hal (and Damien) look, but it could just be hard to tell because the photo was so washed out and he's so pale.

After studying it carefully, I have come to the conclusion that Damien is playing someone of the same rank as Jerome Flynn who is the sergeant in Ripper Street. They are both better dressed than the man on the left of the picture. Not that my speculations mean anything at all - just an excuse to look at the picture again!
If the weather in Dublin is like it is here, they are going to swelter in all the clothes. I see Damien has a waistcoat, jacket and overcoat on, as have the other two. People used to wear lots of clothes in those days no wonder women had "the vapours"!

The actor on the left I belive is playing a vagabond. Damien is definitely dressed more in line with Mr. Flynn's dress, though not sure what that means.
When I was researching Regency dress, which also consisted of many layers, I read that Europe was under an ice age and overall temperatures were cooler than what we experience today. I just looked up weather forecast in Dublin. It's actually quite cool and windy the next couple weeks. So hopefully they are all quite comfy in all those layers!
