It was the law for victorian men to wear hats wasn't it?  And I can't see either of these going with the blue suit....so I think it's likely, domino!

I've obviously got no class - cos my fave is still pic 2.....

It was the law and they are the law! was it the actual law or just a expectation of the times, and the 'proper' thing to do ? bring on the blue suit hat I say! Has a man ever looked more ........ phwoar ..... in a hat?!

And domino - I think it was the law in much the same way as 'everyone loves a party.....' - so yeah expectations and the proper thing to do. lol!

I do and I don't...but have to say that the styling and aesthetic of Ripper Street of which the costumes are an integral part, really appeals to me AND I think the costumes Damien have been given suit him exceptionally well. *has another neckties and hats moment....* thud

fifi, Ha! yup...for quite a demanding fandom we are also quite easily pleased!

AlbertFlight-y, I'm with you on that...the costumes we have seen so far for Flight are fabulous! and i may have also squuuuueeeeed out loud seeing Damien live on BBC One on the telly box in the trailer!

YAY! Pictures of Damo's costume(and handsome face, of course)! I loved the trailer and his few seconds on screen. It made me sqeal and cry tears of happiness over the fact his face would be on my TV once more!

 I did...and the other tv magazines that feature Damien all have the same picture, the same size with the same sort of write up. He's barely had a mention but i'm hoping that will change the week he joins the cast proper.

We are delighted to share 2 new official promotional photos of Damien as Detective Flight in Ripper Street, premiering on BBC One next Monday.

Damien, captured here in bowler hat and sharp period costume in these stunning portraits as Detective Flight, joins H Division as a new recruit in episode 2.

The circumstances of his arrival and his background are as yet unknown. His character profile teases: ‘For Flight is a man of secrets. Secrets at which the men of H Division could never even guess.’ These photos add to the intrigue already surrounding his character, the mystery of his blackened eye – also glimpsed in the trailer – hinting at a story yet to be told.

We cannot wait for the mystery of Albert Flight to begin unravelling over the weeks to come!

 

Ripper Street premieres 28th October at 9pm on BBC One and on BBC America 1 December.

Excellent!!! Domino can you extend my thanks to Tiger Aspect for providing us with cool pictures. smile

They did a great job with the makeup so that it's not too obvious he's got a black eye.  I wonder if we'll get to see how it came about?

I'm not keen on the hat.  And the overcoat, they are a bit too large on him, he looks like he's drowning in them.

I most certainly will whimsy, I am truly grateful to Tiger Aspect for giving me these photos and permission to share them! stunning photos aren't they?

I love the juxtaposition between the well dressed appearance and the shiner - they are the most intriguing of all the character photos i have seen for Ripper street yet.... wonder what story will unfold, what this juxtapositions says about Albert himself, the situations he finds himself in and the context of the times... Under the veneer of Victorian life in Whitechapel, London.

I don't mind the coat, but the hat is awful, lol.
