and this is the saddest moment of all.... because Flight is the hero here, he not only defends Mr Merrick with an amazing speech that goes straight to the heart of the theme of this episode, but, he saves Merrick's life...by helping him sit upright after he falls flat on his back ( which we know would cause Merrick to stop breathing ) and then Merrick goes on to save 2 lives himself, only because Flight brought him to the right place at the right time.

Flights moral compass points towards goodness. His falling asleep in the later scene resulting in Shine having access to Joseph is doubly tragic because of this - its a mirror scene to this one, but Flight is not the perpetrator, and he fell asleep because he was up all night working.

Oooh yes, forgot about the confession. Think you might be right, he would feel that he should atone for the 'sin' of falling asleep, even though he couldn't have stopped Merrick's death.

We should mention both of these photos are from episode 4, which is Damien's 'big' episode in the series, although he does appear in all episodes from his introduction in episode 2

Nor do I whimsy, I do not recall Flight being undercover and on the street with any of the other characters except Evelyn Foley and Michael Donovan. either we are very bad fans and it's time for a rewatch. or this is a new bit only in the BBCA episode?!

I can confirm that the scene this pic is from is not in episode 4 (the uk BBC version anyway!) so, it is either from a scene that will forever remain on the cutting room floor, or a scene that will be in the US version on BBC America!

very exciting! If it is not in, I really hope the BBCA dvd has it as an exta. as you all know, the uk one has no extras at all.
