Voted but he's well down in votes- not that the poll is indicative of who will be Twelve...it could be someone nobody has considered (I really wouldn't be surprised if that's the case)

A lot of 'big' names have been touted and traditionally the Doctor Who bods have never gone for a 'big' name to play The Doctor but still they put them out there and speculate. Mark my words, it'll be someone either not so well known or not known at all.

Agreed Lisa, usually it is a surprise name and not one that has been put forward. Damien is at about the right stage in his TV career though to be known but not too well known for the role, if that make sense?

I would be extremely happy if Damien did become the doctor, I hope he does, cause that would be amazing. He has incredible acting skills and he is just perfect

It's very flattering to see so many people - who aren't "traditional" fangirls - praising Damien and his abilities as an actor. If he doesn't get the Doctor job (and, even though he'd be great, I'm not sure I want it for him) then his profile has been raised to a level where he'll get something mega soon.

so very sorry to confess. But on one website i did actually vote Benedict Cumberbatch (even though he's said 10,000,000 times he doesn't want to be the doctor) But on the official site i did vote DaMo :) xx

In the Digital Spy poll Damien is effectively first because he has 20 votes and only "other" has more! This is the latest voting so he is slowly and surely gaining support. Not that it means much because I reckon that the new Doctor is already chosen.

As already mentioned, it's great to see it's not just us touting this idea. It's positively giddy, seeing so much support for Damien from other quarters - and quite right too.

I'm not sure if I want one of my fav actors playing the role if they get the lack lustre material of the last batch of episodes, but hey, it took me a season to settle down with Moffat, so fingers crossed.

Damien came 6th in the Guardian poll (which is now closed) is currently 6 th in the Radio Times poll, but I cannot see any of them bar Colin Morgan being at the right point in their career to be the Doctor, and Colin Morgan = merlin = a bit too much of a headspin to transfer over to the Doctor!

He is 4th in the spoilertv poll but again with unlikelies above him!

It's interesting that in the Radio Times poll Zawe Ashton (whoever that is) is at 0% and the Guardian has her at 25% (the top vote).  Damien is near the top of all of them.  

I'm sure that the next Doctor has already been picked and voting is irrelevant but it's good to see him do so well.
