And this is probably waaaaay off base but did you see Matt's thank you to the fans message when he had the sheets of paper with his thank you message written on? On one of the pieces of paper there was a smiley face and that smiley face had fangs drawn onto it. Now like i said, probably well off base, he probably draws smiley faces like that and there's nothing in it per se but my radar pinged at that. Wishful thinking more likely but how cool would that be if he was dropping a hint of his own? (and no, i don't suppose he'd know who'd be replacing him either to be honest) a gal can dream...
It's very true that sometimes a particular actor seems to be on everything, but I kinda wonderd whether they would like to keep Dr Who a bit more...exclusive - as you say, Ruby, the filming schedule hasn't allowed for the actor to do any other work at the same time, but I guess that doesn't mean that it would be considered an issue....
Domino - I like the idea of Damien being 'BBC boy'. It's a shame everything just takes so long to actually got on our screens!
I absolutely adore Doctor Who. Matt Smith was one of my favorite doctors and when I found out that he was leaving I was so sad. I would love for Damien to become the next doctor, but I guess we are going to have to wait. Oh that wait is so excruciatingly long.

Oooh I did notice it but I didn't think much of it tbh. I like the way you think!

It is hard to imagine anyone but Matt Smith delivering these lines because it's what we've become use to, but gosh I really hope the next Doctor isn't hyper. I'm tired of hyper. Quirky is okay (and obviously very Doctor Who) but hyper all the time is exhausting. As an American from the southeast (we're kind of slow speakers here) I have a really hard time following what is being said in an English accent when it's being said at the speed of light with lots of running around involved.
Matt Smith was always running around and speaking at the speed of light.
Yeah I'm from Tennessee, but I'm also a quater italian I talk fast and alot. I do pretty well at understanding but there are some occasions where I don't understand a single thing. Either its because of the accent or they mumble or something. I think hyper is okay but it seems as though every doctor is hyper maybe its time for a change. Maybe a quite, laid back, sexy doctor.

To me, these audition scripts are written for Matt Smith and it is kind of hard at first to imagine anyone else saying them without imitating his kind of manic hyperactive style ... but on a deeper level I then started to imagine what Damien's interpretation could be... and as we have seen with Hal in Being Human, the way he gives such a nuanced delivery to almost each and every word ...and then the thought became very exciting indeed!
Hmmm yeh domino I'm finding it really difficult not to read it as though matt smith is delivering it although I'm certain damien would make it his own given the chance!
Plus he does have a smaller chin....and the French thing could be a tangential connection? Hmmm.....

That one scene (darn, should have checked the other ones yesterday before they got removed) is very Matt in it's style, so it must have been hard for the auditionees to not slip into that kind of thing.
They took the other two down before I got a chance to look at them.

At least Sherlock is usually standing in one place when he's delivering quick lines. Matt Smith was always running around and speaking at the speed of light.
Of course Clara would never say "it's a bit...you know" about Damien's face in an unsure way. She'd thank her lucky starts and drool. LOL
I think after a few read throughs I can hear Damien delivering the lines.

The one about the Doctor asking Clara if (why) she's wearing a smell made me roar with laughter. I also found it very very hard to read those lines and not hear Matt deliver them, they are pure Eleven for me, I can't hear Damien say them but that's because i can only hear Matt say them.
I think it is an announcement announcement...and it looks like it's going to be Sunday, not Saturday which I think is a little weird as more people will be watching on Saturday I would have thought?
If they're copying how they announced Eleven, then this midnight announcement will be to tell us to tune into BBC1 on Sunday at 7pm for the big live reveal. They wouldn't announce who will be Twelve via Twitter, it's too much of a big deal.
A live studio celebrity audience does make me wonder if the new doctor is already a pretty famous name? this from Ben Stephenson, Controller of BBC Drama Commissioning via the Radio Times intrigues:
"Amongst all the speculation and betting, there has been lots of fun and intrigue at work as we've been using the codename Houdini as a decoy! It’s the biggest secret in showbiz, even those working with the new Doctor on other projects at the moment have no idea they are in the presence of the 12th incarnation."
