dropped a line to TA on FB too.

I've been thinking, if he's still waiting to be confirmed, it is possible they waited to sign him on and he's committed to another project(s) and they are trying to juggle things around?  Not sure how all that works.  But I've gotten to the point that I would like to see him reprise his role as Flight, to tie up that storyline, but see him move onto something bigger.  As you say Domino, this show has 3 male leads; he will never reach the same level of importance and popularity on this show.

I'd love to see Damien back for Ripper Street but as it's supposed to be four years after the events of s2, I can't see how. If it was set immediately after s2 then yes, because i would've liked to have seen Flight's redemption, it really wouldn't work four years down the line. I'm thinking perhaps his career as a detective is over, given his credibility as a witness against Shine was shot to pieces given his own criminal record but if there is a way around this then i will be more than pleased because his character had such potential and was way under used in series two, yes he was mysterious but we never got to see much of that mystery, i don't think our curiosity was piqued enough to warrant the shock of that 'betrayal' that we saw, there wasn't much of a hint.

I think as filming is due to begin sometime this month, we keep our ears close to the ground and see if Damien begins tweeting from Dublin again. It was this time last year we found out he was in series two but not because of anything he tweeted.

I'm not sure what to think. He was definitely in London yesterday, which presumably was where the readthru's occurred. An extra tweeted he's doing costume fittings in Manchester, which seems the oddest place. Isn't some filming happening in England? (I thought London)

The Ripper Street machine is certianly cranking up, read-throughs, costume fittings and filming in Manchester next week have all been mentioned on Twitter.
Damien did tweet he is in Dublin, but as that is his native land I am not getting my hopes up too much until we find out whether he is returning in RS or not. I wish someone would bloody hurry up and tell us already!!!!

I just assumed series three would be filmed on the set at Clancy Street Barracks which is as we all know, in Dublin. He could just be on a short trip to see his family. And i remember how long we had to wait for confirmation that Damien was in the last series so not holding my breath for any kind of confirmation from them. And we all know Mr Molony is as secretive as the grave where his work is concerned (which just could be down to the fact that he isn't allowed to tell us yet)

filming is definitely happening in Dublin again Lisa, after 2 weeks in the uk. But I a jsut trying to keep an open mind!

Jozie, Last year the powers that be were pretty good giving us info when they could...so as soon as they are allowed to confirm it to us, I am sure they will again, just would love to be able to begin getting excited about series 3 now that it is beginning filming;

Lol!! Tweeting from Dublin just as the Ripper St machine is cranking up is such a wind-up thing to do - regardless of where costume fittings/readthroughs may be happening!  I shall try to keep an open mind.....but with fuel for the fires of speculation like that - it is kinda difficult!!

I'm really pleased that RS is coming back for a 3rd series....it is an excellent programme in it's own right - but I must admit that if Damien/Flight isn't in it, then the disappointment might actually make it quite hard to be very enthusiastic.

So, here's the detectiving that's come up last couple days...

We know they had the readthrough on Wednesday.  We have confirmation from a Damo tweet that he was in London that day.

We know two main cast members, Charlene McKenna & Adam Rothenberg, and extras are in Manchester getting ready to film there & the town Hall is being transformed.  manchester.jpg

Myanna Buring confirmed that filming would be in Ireland and soon, but did not say she was going to Manchester.

Damo tweeted from Ireland yesterday, but just this evening tweeted from London.

Anyone want to make heads or tails on all that???

Maybe he is teasing us, or it was just coincidence he tweeted from the places that relates to RP season 3 filming, or he is hiding very big secret and Flight might be coming back!!!dancing

Very good DAMO detective work Whimsy!

Maybe I should sent him a letter that only says " It's ok you can tell me if you are in RP S3, I can keep a secret"wink

Ripper street was due to film for 2 weeks in the uk then head back to Dublin, so that part makes sense. The part that makes no sense at the moment is whether there will be an Albert Flight in it or not.... Which makes it difficult to be fully enthusiastic about any of the news coming through!

Psst... Jozie...Follow the #ripperstreet tag or search ripper street on twitter for all this info!

It's all very interesting isn't it?

Perhaps if Damien is going to be in series 3, then his scenes are when filming resumes in Dublin and perhaps he was over there looking for somewhere to stay for the duration (you can tell i'm clutching at straws can't you? ;) ) so while he was in London for the cast read through, he won't actually be needed for the Manchester shoot. Yes, most definitely clutching at straws.

Whether Damien is in series three or not, i'll most definitely be tuning in once it airs on BBC1, i've watched and loved it from the very first episode.

And i'm also wondering whether the main cast at the beginning of series 3 will not be together and perhaps have moved on to different divisions and perhaps circumstances will bring them back together (again purely guesswork and thinking out loud)

Whimsy - I only wish I could make heads or tails of it all...

Ruby - I'm quite happy to join you clutching at those straws!

And, as a natural cynic and generally sceptical person, I have actually found myself thinking that this sudden random tweeting is all very suspicious...and that he could, in reality, be tweeting from absolutely anywhere and it really could all be a complete wind-up just to tease us. lol!!

I gather that Jerome didn't win the BAFTA....shame!

YAY!!!!  First of all, the music.  I've been bugging (nicely) the official RS peeps for months and emailed Dominik Shcherrer once (and he nicely emailed back) all but begging for the soundtrack.  I was told legal issues holding it up.  Hopefully this award helps with whatever needs to be done to resolve those issues so I can get my hands on this sublime music!

Second, how awesome does that set look?  And everyone is looking spiffy!  Now that filming in Dublin is set to start in a week, I hope they put us out of our misery right away and tell us if Damien's back for S3 or not!

Yeah - congrats to Dominik Scherrer for his Ivor Novello Award....richly deserved!

And it is great to see some filming pics for S3...I love the authentic Victorian scene with guys in t-shirts and trainers dotted around and the modern filming equipment in the corner!

I hope we get some news on Damien soon too whimsy!  He's obviosly not been filming in Manchester....but fingers crossed that we get some news from Dublin.  Realising that Myanna hasn't been in Manchester either reminded me of all of the speculation last year about what Damien's character could be.......maybe Flight could end up working for Long Susan after all.....!!

Damian Barcroft (@RipperStreet on twitter) posted a feature on Dominik Scherrer, mentioning the soundtrack will be released: "Dominik is currently working on the much anticipated Ripper Street soundtrack album which is due to be released shortly although the exact date is yet to be confirmed." Lots of other interesting bits about the soundtrack too, well worth the read.

Mr Barcroft also has published the most in-depth piece on Ripper Street 3

Ripper Street III | an epic year in Whitechapel

This gives me the vaguest bit of hope for Flight's return:

"The new series will move forward and begin in 1894. However, it will still deal with the aftermath of the dramatic series two finale."
