I must admit I'm starting to lose faith. Until the BBC have actually confirmed the autumn tx i will try to remain circumspect.....I wonder whether some sources are making the assumption (as I did) that it will air at around the same time as last year. But let's face it...even having made the announcement, the BBC are prone to changing their minds! They have toyed with me too many times! (Incidentally - I wonder whatever happened to the Tiger Aspect press release? - or did i miss it?)
Added to all of that is the rather strange fact that last Aug the BBC ran a trailer announcing Ripper Street for the autumn.....and then it wasn't broadcast until the end of Dec! It might have to actually appear in the tv listings for me to be convinced....
Definitely Fifi, I'll believe it when I see it on my EPG! However, with all the press releases and things, I hope for a pre-Christmas series...I suppose it comes down to what else they have in the 'bank' for Sunday nights. Obviously, there'll be the Strictly Results Show, but who knows what other shows are hanging around.
Ooh! Most intriguing. Is this gent a dude because he bakes? And what does the message on the cake mean? ... Mm, nice fruit. ... Nice cake ... In the absence of Damien, there's cake to drool over.
Btw, I have received an email informing me that the casting news for Ripper St has trended on twitter.

hmm indeed! what are we to make if it inspector UJ?
Yes it was buzzing earlier in the week when media all over were publishing the casting news! just so we avoid confusing our Ripper Street topics, the discussion on Damien's casting announcement is here
I agree with you, my ideal would be simultaneous broadcasts - not actual same time because of time zones but same day.
it is not official that the uk will get it months earlier, that is based on the TV times feature and a comment from tiger aspect. But hopefully BBC One will announce soon.
I think Ripper Street filming is drawing to a close but the above pic could just be a farewell to that director working on the show, Being Human i believe had more than one director, i think a different one per block.
I saw a tweet from Gillian Saker (actress in Ripper Street) that said block 3 had finished & I'm sure when Su asked Myanna Buring how many blocks they were filming she replied 4, so that tweet must just have been for Keiron Hawkes finishing his block as director.

I reckon a cake loving set is a fun set to work on.
Sorry about crossing the threads, domino. I always get confused when, basically, there's more than one in the same subject area but in a different part of the board.

They can edit whilst filming is still going on...and once the show starts transmitting. Block 1 finished a while ago so on the assumption they're filming in some kind of linear order, I would expect Ep1 and 2 to be nearly finished.
Dunno about expert, especially as each production is different, but an hour-long drama takes a couple of weeks to edit at least, then it'll probably have a grade (to iron out lighting differences and things) plus possibly some extra effects work, then poss an extra couple of days for 'picture lock' and then the audio dub; so 6 weeks an ep is normal...comes down to whether they have a single edit or more than one working on different episodes.
"dunno about expert" she says, then proceeds with a blow by blow description of the post production process!
InsideMediaTrack have the RP 2 UK air date as October, but they are possibly working on the same info as we are (the TV Times feature and Tiger Aspect comment to the forum on twitter).
I am reading on twitter from other actors I follow that they have finished their ADR for first episode(s) (sound /audio re-editing) so post production is well under way!
I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!!! I need a 'fingers in the ears...singing la, la, la' emoticon to put in this thread until we know something more definate... Because I so want to think that it is that close, and I'll be so disappointed if we have to wait until December. It can't straddle Christmas though, can it? (although it would seem that it is in America) So it's got to be November at the latest - hasn't it? Either that, or it won't be on till after Christmas.....aaaarrrghhh!!!!
OMG - just saw that you were chatting about emoticons when i wrote this....that's spooky!

Trying to find where it's being edited to get a handle on when it might be finished. Looks like an Irish company called Egg did the first series, but no mention of the second. However, it makes sense that it's Irish based for Directors, Producers and Cast to get to it.
