With whimsyfox's wonderful 'Show No Mercy' Quilt fundraiser happening, I thought it would be good to have a reminder of the scene where we first saw future Hal.
it's a bit unsettling just how much i love this image! I agree domino - an amazing piece of art. It's so simple, but really captures that bad hal look - a lightly sadistic curve of the mouth, and a twinkle in the eyes which at the same time are unnervingly piercing......
I really love the line "quite literally their poster boy" too.....
in context it is also both an overpowerfully menancing and majestic sight.... extremely evocative of Lord Hal's power over the future dystopian world. As I was writing the fan site feature for whimsy's Show No Mercy fundraiser, it struck me that this symbol of the future Hal literally hangs in our awareness for the rest of the life of Being Human, like a constant backdrop to Hal's worst potential.
I'd never really thought about that before, but you are right! Our view of Hal's potential for evil is coloured as much by this future as by what little we know of his past. And this future seems very much like a full stop - no more round and round, more like make or break.
And it could still be Hal's future. If he can escape from the devil's curse he could carry on where Mr Snow left off - Eve's death only means that the vampires would eventually be defeated, not that none of it could happen......an mighty (and rather exciting?) thought indeed.
When we met him in Northampton, Damien said he had to pose 7 or 8 different shots for this poster, because they weren't sure what style they wanted to go with. He mentioned off some names but having been under The Molony Effect, I can't recall. But I thought that was an interesting little insight...

It's really hard to imagine them using any other image than this one.....it has a totally iconic status in my mind. I still have it as the lock screen on my tablet and a sticker of it on my phone case. When I wrote my Homage to Hal, 'Show No Mercy, poster boy' was the first line I came up with!
