Su, it's not like I started watching GBBO because Damien tweeted it, that would be weird... but I LOVE it! Used to watch Cake Boss, and this is as different as night and day. My 8 yr old loves watching it with me. She said she wants to be a cooking show judge when she grows up!
Yeah, I'm not a fan of Diana... it's terrible she had an accident yet feel it's quite "convenient" after what happened. And no it's not all her fault - Ian certainly could have presented something - but she should not have taken and left the ice-cream out & I can't blame his reaction. I would have been livid!
But overall I find this show just lovely. So different in feel to American contest shows. (except for this incident!)

I thought he actually stayed quite calm! I'd have lost my Shit!
I've watched that cake boss a few times and it's good but the commentary over the top is a bit annoying, I wanna watch the cooking, not listen to people talk rubbish lol xx

i gotta be honest when I saw the topic I thought Damien the famous foodie was making an appearance on a food program.
THIS.MUST.HAPPEN.
we all have said it Glofigs, fingers crossed for one day! (but not before he has been on Strictly Come Dancing!)
Su - I think the controversy was because the BBC edited it to look that way? Apparently it was only out less than a minute... seconds...
UJ - Norman was hanging on by a thread bless him, but he did try to push it in the final showstopper challenge!
whimsy - good to know GBBO is loved by your whole family! I have never watched Cake Boss, but GBBO is the only solely baking cookery show I have ever really stuck with!
So noone was sent home on GBBO last night - well engineered to cover Diana's unplanned exit?
It is really difficult to know who the front runners are in this competition, as everyone seems to have come top or bottom at some point! I'm loving Chetna....Luis doesn't seem to get enough credit for his consistency, often criticised for style over substance... I remember last year's finalist Frances was always criticised for the same thing!
GBBO - strange how Richard and Kate who were doing really well up until now seem to be really struggling. I thought early on that Richard might be a finalist but now I think he'll really have to up his game. Luis does well each week and seems confident with every challenge thrown at them. Chetna did really well this week. All the cakes looked so delicious this week - I can't watch this without having to eat a little sweet treat!
Pearl - surely you would make an exception for Celebrity Masterchef if Damien was on it?!
That was hysterical. Only to be matched by Romesh 'What did you call me?' when they were talking about brownies. Superb.
Well, Diane didn't do herself any favours did she. Her conscience is clear? Even if it was just for 40 seconds, no one should touch another contestants dish.

So we are down to the final three for the final... Who should win?
I think it will be Richard but for some reason don't want him to be... He's been star baker 5 times now, last week they so should have given that to Louis!
I know what you mean, domino. Richard's too good - so it's unfair not to want him to win when he clearly deserves it - but it makes me root for funny chilled Nancy and the lovely Louie.

agree.. Richard is good, but it's almost irritating! lol! Nancy has been consistent, Luis (just looked him up, that is how to spell his name apparently!) I do feel has not been given the credit he deserves, except in bread week where he won star baker. Last week Luis had the same mix of neg and positive comments for his baclavas as Richard... and came first in the technical challenge , in that mega layered pancake kind of cake. his entremets were creative. looked fabulous and tasted amazing, he got brilliant comments, so did Richard but overall between the two, they should have picked Luis. Rant over!
But to be honest, my heart was with Martha or Chetna to win!
Nancy was accomplished in many areas, it seems. I'm glad she won. Poor Richard. Shouldn't not want him to win just because he was so good! His messing up the first two rounds made it a lot more interesting.
